Chapter 5: When It Started

“Inaction in the face of timitidy is sinful, not timidity itself.

While feeling timid is not inherently wrong or sinful, allowing it to hold you back from taking action towards your goals or addressing important issues can result in missed opportunities and regret.

It is important to acknowledge and manage one's emotions, including timidity, in a healthy way to ensure that they do not interfere with personal growth and success.

In summary, it is not necessarily a sin to feel timid, but allowing it to prevent you from taking action or pursuing your goals can have negative consequences. It is important to recognize and manage one's emotions to ensure personal growth and success.”

Viga discovered that he can be calm in every dangerous situation, and his actions and thinking process became geared to the situation he was in way before he started having the dream. He didn't figure it out right away; instead, he had to go through a series of really risky circumstances before he did.

As Viga was inherently timid by nature, due to the circumstances of his life. He was small and thin, which was the cause of his insecurities, and that led him to be timid, which made him prone to being bullied by taller and stronger kids.

He did not stand up for himself and was frequently taken advantage of as a result. This left him feeling helpless in some circumstances. Even though Viga began training in martial arts when he was only six years old, a basic lesson won't cut it with older, tougher kids.

However, there was a period when some bullies crossed the line. When Viga was being bullied once more, his three sisters who were passing by by accident managed to notice what was going on. Viga was 9 years old at the time. At the time, the youngest sister, who was just 5 years old, had no idea what was going on; all she knew was that her elder brother wasn't having fun with some of his friends around him and was about to cry. She got there and attempted to defend his brother, and seeing this, the rest of his sisters followed and helped him as well.

These big, older youngsters weren't really trying to hurt Viga; they were only making fun of him with jeers. As they are still on school property, they lack the courage to actually hurt anyone; all they can do is push Viga around. For some adults, especially in this area with so many underprivileged people, bullying used to be a way of life and a method to toughen up the kids back when it was not yet a widespread problem.

When the leader of the group of kids was being chastised by his younger sister, who told them to cease or they would tell their parents. The goons who were gathered around their leader began to make fun of him, telling him it was amusing to be reprimanded by a smaller child. Now that the leader was being mocked by his peers, the leader retaliated by yelling at his younger sister. The goons laughed even harder at the leader because the leaders yell didn't dissuade Viga's younger sister instead it gave her more power to scold him.

Being mocked and made fun off, caused the leader to start raging at his ears and gritting his teeth. The leader wanted this situation to end, so he shoved Viga's younger sister, causing her to fall on her butt. What transpired stunned everyone, including the goons. Even the leader's eyes betrayed some remorse, but it quickly vanished as a result of the motivating cries coming from his goons. As Viga's sister sat on the ground, the goons switched their laugh at her.

At the time, Viga's little sister shown bravery by refusing to cry despite wanting to. She sprang to her feet and charged at the leader while flailing her tiny arms. She was randomly striking the leader with his tiny arms. Even though it didn't hurt, the leader became annoyed. The leader kept shoving his younger sister away, but she kept coming back with increased vigor.

When the leader's annoyance reached an all-time high, he ordered his goons to hold Viga's sister; two of them came and each held an arm; Viga's other sister was shocked; they were unable to react as the situation deteriorated; instead, they just held their breath and covered their mouths, they were clearly in fear. Who wouldn't be afraid when one young child gets encircled by five older children?

When the two guys firmly secured both hands of Viga's little sister, the leader started pushing her forehead with his palm. When her sister's head returned to its right position, he pushed it again while scolding her and asking where the courage she had exhibited previously had gone. Viga's little sister was about to cry but kept her tears to show her defiance. As a result, the goons jeered at their leader once more. The leader was now utterly irritated, and his rage was evident to all.

Out of his annoyance, the leader gave Viga's little sister a tight slap. "SLAP" that shocked everyone. Viga's little sister couldn't take it anymore and started crying, which empowered the leader. He was about to give a much stronger slap when something happened outside of their expectations.

This was the first time that Viga snapped. He was still rooted in his spot since his sisters went to support him, with his head bowed and being timid. But when he heard the slap, something inside him changed. He became calm all of a sudden; he was thinking clearly, and many things were being processed inside his brain.

He looked up with a clarity that can be seen in his eyes; he was no longer the timid Viga. All of a sudden, he rushed at the two goons that were holding his little sister, passing by his two sisters that where in shocked and fear. The goons weren't aware that he was rushing towards them because they had their backs to him.

When Viga was close enough, he delivered a low roundhouse kick at the back of one of the guys knees. The guy buckled, which caused him to kneel abruptly, hitting both of his knees on the concrete ground, which hurt him tremendously. He screamed after a moment of shock.

After delivering the low roundhouse kick and making sure that one guy was down, Viga immediately delivers yet another kick, but this time towards the underside of the elbow of the last guy that was holding his sister. The kick succeeded in releasing the goon's hold on Viga's sister by flinging the goon's arm upward. This guy didn't even manage to react being kicked, as he was shocked at seeing what just happened to his friend.

The goon came out of shock as the pain in his elbow began to register in his head, the discomfort caused him to crouch down and hold his elbow. Viga's kick was not strong enough to dislocate the goon's elbow, but it was certainly strong enough that it will produce a slight bruise and cause enough pain. As the goon was crouched down, Viga finished him off with a front kick to the jaw.

Viga then drew his little sister to his back to shield her. The leader's movement froze mid-slap, visibly stunned by what had just transpired, as were the two goons at the back.

Viga was now looking calmly at the leader as he faced him. The leader lost the shock in his face when Viga gave him the look, replacing it with one that was filled with indignation at being looked at by such a weakling.

Viga told her little sister to go to her elder sister while keeping his look at the leader, hearing what Viga said, the other sisters came for their little sister and brought her back. This action made the leader even more angry who suddenly rushed towards Viga to grab him.

Viga took a few steps back to evade the grab. Being evaded by Viga, the leader was infuriated more. He kept his chase on Viga, but now instead of grabbing him, he was giving him a swing of his hand.

Viga sidestep, duck, backstep, lean, slip, weave, and use every combination he can think of to evade the wild swing from the leader. Viga was getting light in his feet at every evasion he was doing, and he felt that everything was slowing down. It was awkward at first, but now it is much less awkward. Viga's body was gradually polishing all the knowledge he had accumulated in the past few years since he started learning martial arts in this brawl.

Although there was always a sparring match at every session of martial arts lesson, Viga didn't really participate, even with the insistence of their instructor. So technically, this is the first time Viga has used some of the things that he has learned. However, this was clearly not enough to win the fight because the leader had considerably more brawling experience and a larger body mass, Viga would surely lose in a slugfest. Since Viga cannot win with kicks and punches; all he can do was to evade.

While he was avoiding the leaders' swings and chase, Viga's eyes were constantly scanning the area. Viga's instincts kept warning him that he cannot overpower or outfight the leader in a brawl, therefore he must find another way to defeat his opponent. As he continued to look around, he noticed a stone the size of a fist a short distance away.

He came up with a plan and executed it after getting the inspiration to overcome his opponent. He moved cautiously in the direction of the rock, dodging and backing up as he went. He must time this perfectly, otherwise it will go on for a lot longer. Viga calculated the leaders stride length and the separation between himself and the leader. He requires the leader to stepped on the rock while he was being pursued.

Why not just pick up the rock and smash the leader with it? He felt that there was not enough time to pick up the rock, even if there was, and he won by smashing the rock in the leader's face. This will only lead to a lot of trouble, and perhaps they'll return later with a rock of their own.

Viga must avoid this situation to occur and win this fight with his body alone. So the plan he made was the best way to win this fight. The first time the leader missed stepping on the rock, Viga miscalculated the leader's stride; he then circled again while evading; the second time the leader missed stepping on the rock, because Viga evaded in the wrong direction; the third time, the fourth time, until he couldn't keep count, Viga kept circling around the rock.

As this fight was happening, it managed to gather a decent number of kids; some were just there to see some attraction, and some were just there with their friends and didn't give a damn if someone was fighting. Only a group of kids could be seen; there was still no adult in sight. These kids have no intention of breaking up the fight because doing so would make them the target of bullying. But as the fight went on, they were all amazed at how this known timid, thin kid, who was also known for being bullied, kept evading the known bully of the school.

Then, when the leader finally stepped on the rock while pursuing Viga, throwing him off balance and causing him to fall face forward, Viga took advantage of the opportunity he had created for himself. Viga stopped backing away and leaped forward while raising his knee, giving the leader a flying knee. The leader's face then came into contact with Viga's knee. The leader's face was fully struck by a powerful force created by the momentum of both Viga's flying knee and his own slip.

The leader was now down for the count, groaning while lying on the concrete ground. Standing by the leader's side, Viga was imperturbably staring down at him. Viga then turned to gaze at the two surviving goons to see whether they would rush up to aid their leader in finishing the fight. The goons saw the look Viga was giving them; they were frozen in place. They were already frozen in place when their leader was in mid-fight with Viga. They initially thought that their leader could win the fight without their assistance. However, as the fight continued, they became shocked by what was occurring and forgot to support their leader.

The two goons then slowly backed away and ran, leaving their leader and the rest of their friends, who were now recovered from the pain that they experienced. These two recently recovered goons were also watching the recent fight; the idea to join the fight didn't even cross their minds after what they had experienced.

Cheers were then heard all around Viga; some of the kids that were watching the show were even jumping in joy at the spectacular fight that they witnessed. Additionally, a few of them were bullied by the leader and his goons, it was a pleasant moment for them to witness someone act in retaliation for their bully. Even Viga's sisters couldn't believe what they had just witnessed. Just now, their timid older brother defeated five older youngsters in a battle.

This was the beginning of Viga's ability to remain calm and collected in any dangerous situation. Naturally, bullying persisted after this incident, and Viga continued to be timid Viga. Although Viga continued to let them push him around, when the bullies tried to take a swing at him, something in Viga suddenly became aware of the danger; a switch automatically turns on. When the switch was turned on, he became calm, then dangerous. Dangerous for the bullies.

This happened a few more times, as they didn't believe it at first. Then they put Viga at arms length after they confirmed everything was true, but that didn't stop them from jeering at Viga whenever he passed by. The only thing that had changed was that they no longer had the initiative to sought Viga out to bully him, and Viga was slowly coming out of his shell.
