Life sucks as always, it never change. The majority of us began to detest our daily routines. When the alarm goes off in the morning, you hesitate for about five to ten minutes before choosing whether to call in sick or just put up with another tedious day. But rational mind prevails, daily necessities take precedence, though; there are expenses to pay, and the support must be sent back home; these things can't be done if a deduction is made from our meager income.
The majority of people who work abroad, far from their native country, are in this situation or circumstance. Viga, one of the majority, gets up around 5 a.m., gets ready in 10 minutes, and changes from his nightwear into something presentable and appropriate for work. He has about 10 pairs of such clothes, so he won't wear the same thing twice in a week and a half.
Since he bathed before bed, all he needs to do when he wakes up is change out of his pajamas, style his messy bed hair, and brush his teeth. No need for breakfast, as that would be another outlay from his limited pay. He will simply replace his breakfast with the free coffee in the office cupboard.
He'll simply wait until lunchtime and order those inexpensive but substantial items from the menu. He would only eat half of those he purchased, storing the other half in the office refrigerator to be heated up and consumed the following day. The money that can be spared can be kept and used for other beneficial activities.
After completing his morning preparations, he is prepared to depart his cramped rental space. Just enough room exists here for him to slumber. It is divided into one of the apartment's large rooms and measures 1.5 meters broad by 2 meters long. This so-called partition, which can also be referred to as a loft type partition, was used to separate a room with a height of about three meters into an upper deck and a lower deck.
Some wealthy tenants may have the entire partition to themselves, but Viga is not one of these individuals; instead, he shares the space he rents with another man. The man who was mentioned, Arvon, was a friend he encountered during his first job here; he was trustworthy enough for you to leave your belongings unattended. They hit it off the first time they met, despite having very different personalities, apart from this, they are of the same faith and attend the same congregation. It is impossible for them to not get along well enough to be considered close pals because of these factors.
Arvon's one vice was that almost every week, he brought a new female friend into their cramped apartment. When this occurs, he must spend some time outside, but this buddy of his gave him some money to spend for idly passing the time. It doesn't bother him that much because Arvon is a nice man and always agrees to lend him some money when he asks, and the major reason why he put up with this shenanigan is Arvon pays the bigger share of the room.
Viga wonders why Arvon continued to live with him when he could manage to rent a place of his own. Viga only uses the area as a spot to sleep and store a few of his essentials; he does not consider it to be a sacred space.
As Viga was leaving, he saw that Arvon was still sleeping in his bed in the lower deck; his friend always sleeps and wakes up late, which in turn makes him come to the office late. Viga wonders why this guy is not fired yet. Viga didn't want to wake up his buddy, so he just said goodbye quietly.
He must walk a kilometer from his apartment to the train station, where he must occasionally navigate the rush-hour crowds. He prefers to leave early to avoid this, but the drawback is that he is too early for work and the first person to appear at the office. Being a corporate slave, arriving early is meaningless because there is no overtime compensation and no appreciation for even a small gesture of coming in early.
He sat down in his chair as soon as he got to the workplace to get ready for a quick nap before getting to work because, he reasoned, why work so hard if you don't get anything in return? Except for tasks that really require a lot of time to complete, he can complete any easy task in the allotted amount of time for work. Work precisely as for which you are paid, but add an extra ten to twenty percent to ensure that nothing is said about you.
Viga, who is currently around 25 years old, immigrated to this country when he was around 20 years old, freshly graduate from collage. Within a month of arriving, he was offered his first interview, and as fate would have it, he was accepted. His first employer was a family-run firm.
For the two years he worked there, he practically dedicated every waking hour to the company but was only given a pitiful wage and laid off when the business was having a hard time. They couldn't fire anyone in the family because this was a family-run business, and because, after correcting a mistake made by a stupid employee, he became at odds with him, which was a bad move on his part. Instead, he should have just listened to his coworkers and avoided upsetting this idiot because he was the pet of this family-run company.
After several months of unemployment and numerous interviews, he has now been working at his current job for almost three years, with the previously mentioned new mindset of simply returning what he was compensated for plus an additional ten to twenty percent; Really, life teaches anyone a lot of things. Why devote your time to a business you didn't even own and that couldn't give a shit about you? Your boss wants you to give everything you have to the business with no expectations of getting anything in exchange. Corporate slave, remember?
Viga is a fairly introverted person, but he made an effort to get along with the other employees. He offers assistance when needed and makes jokes with them to prevent isolation. When his money permits, he occasionally hangs out with them. He never attempts to curry favor with superiors and instead tries to stay off their grid. By avoiding them, you eliminate yourself as a target for anyone. His only objective was to have a steady income, and by avoiding office politics, he can achieve that aim. But in the two years he worked there, he was promoted to a senior post due to his performance. Life will occasionally award you for your efforts.
Viga is overly thin for someone his size (5'7"); you could even say he's undernourished, but that's not the case. He always made an effort to consume sensibly and to fill himself up, but no matter what he did, he never gained weight. Since he cannot afford to pay for a doctor's visit out of pocket, he has already use their business health insurance to speak with a doctor about his condition, but all they could offer was the recommendation to eat more. This is not practical for him given his budget unless he consumes unhealthily, but even so, it will ended up hurting his budget even more.
His only vice is smoking. He picked up the poor habit from a friend before he graduated from college, and because he found it to be enjoyable, it has stuck with him. He once attempted to stop smoking because his then-girlfriend didn't want him to. With the aid of those expensive tablets, he was successful, but after two months of smoke-free living, they split up. He wanted to start smoking again, but he had best refrain after considering how much money he had wasted on those dreadful pills.
He had quit smoking for about two years and hadn't been in a relationship since they split up, but the stress of getting promoted caused him to start smoking once more. He attempted to cut back because it was hurting his finances. He was even considering quitting once more because the levy had doubled the cost. But the thought of purchasing those expensive tablets again made him consider twice; at the very least, he is enjoying it.
He has about one and a half hours until some of his coworkers begin to arrive, which will be in two hours. He attempted falling asleep after getting comfortable in his chair. However, despite his efforts, his mind kept returning to the dream he had the night before.
He always had this dream, it started when he was twelve years old, just one night, he had this dream, not like any other dream that can be forgotten after a few minutes when you wake up, even days passed it was still vivid for him, but since he was still a child back then, he didnt understand what it meant, he just thought of it as one of his childish dreams to be a hero, since he always watched hero cartoons in the neighbors television.
Back then, having a television was a source of pride for the kids in the neighborhood because it indicated that your family was one of the wealthiest in the area.
Back in the day, those flashy cartoons with their gaudy costumes and acrobatic battle scenes brought joy to children. What child didn't want to be a hero when he was a kid? However, after having that dream, strange things began to happen. He would stare at nothing for a few minutes.
But from what he could tell, that was not the case; for those brief moments, he would be the only individual in the house. It would take much longer than those few minutes would seem to. He was scared at first because all of the individuals he knew had left the house. He looked for them but was unable to locate them. It appears as though they abandoned him and fled. He hid himself inside the cabinet, curled up inside, because he was afraid of being by himself at the moment.
He felt a tug and was yanked from the cabinet after what seemed like a lifetime, flying back to where he had started out alone. After that, he awoke from his trance, he began to cry and ask her mother and sisters why they had left him alone. They would reassure him by saying that they had never abandoned him and were simply present with him.
It happened a few more times and he attempted to explain what was going on to them, but they didn't believe him; they said it was one of his childish fantasies and he was just being sleepy as he always was.
After a few months, he had the same dream again. What followed left him in a trance for much longer than a few minutes, and he would spend a lot more time by himself. He attempted explaining it to them again, but they didn't believe him until he stopped explaining entirely.
Following a period of deliberation in his childish psyche, when he returns, he braved himself and started exploring this bizarre world; he was terrified of being alone at first, but then he started enjoying it, having the whole house to himself is an adventure. In those times, he would run around the house enjoying being alone, doing the things that he was forbidden to do, like jumping in the top of the mattress, leaving the TV on even though the picture on the screen is not moving, and also opening and closing the door of the refrigerator, trying to find the guy who keeps turning on and off the refrigerator light.
Then it dawns on him that he is all alone in this world; how can a person hide inside there, unless he is like him, but it seems impossible? He tried searching for what really turns on the light inside the refrigerator, and he found that one tiny push switch at the side. The lights turn off when the refrigerator door closes. He was duped by his parents. as a way for revenge, he left the refrigerator door open. That will teach them a lesson for duping him. But he never considered the fact that he was twelve years old and continued to believe that there was a genuine person inside.
All those things which he was forbidden to do inside the house, he tried them one by one and tried to finish them before the tug pulled him back to reality. He tried doing those things in the allotted time before the tug took him back. Exploring and doing all the things he wants inside the house took him a year to finish, since at first he was being careful and a little bit afraid, and he can't control when he can come to this bizarre world, but one thing is for sure: after he dreams of the valiant man and his general, he will surely be in this world, sometimes the moment he wakes up, sometimes not longer than two days. Surely, he will return to this strange world between the time he wakes up and two days later.
He also found out that, as long as he dreams them, his stay in this world is becoming much longer.
