Chapter 0: Prologue

4:36 AM: Montgomery Alabama August 8, 2011

A nondescript black SUV travelled through an Alabama suburb, until it stopped at a house. From the back, a tall brown-skinned man emerged. He had silvery gray hair in a Jerry curl, a medium thin nose, a height of 6’4”, and sharp facial features with slightly plump lips. This man was named Ameer Abdalla. If he had come during the day he would have worn a disguise as he was actually very rich and famous. While he had no worries about getting robbed, he didn’t like unnecessary attention. Especially when on a visit that dealt with his other “work”. He was the CEO owner of Play Ray Enterprises, an entertainment and technology conglomerate. He produced a myriad of products, including but not limited to; vehicles, video games and eco-friendly technology. His best creations were of course for private use.

Within his head he thought “I hope I’m not too late. Perhaps it would have been better to fly.” He referred to no airport, nor even a private helicopter. He was thinking of one of his secret, personally engineered vehicles. But he had been out and about anyway when he got the call that caused him to head this way. He was about an hour out from his home and an hour away from his current location when he received the message. Even if he called home and had his workers prepare the vehicle ahead of time, he still would have arrived only about 10 minutes earlier. As he approached the door, it opened and a curly haired light skinned girl of age sixteen greeted him.

“Mr. Ameer, I’m glad you made it. Grandma says she doesn’t have much time.” The girl was surprisingly calm. Ameer, on the other hand was very concerned. The woman he had come to see was someone very useful in his secret line of work. If something happened to her, it would leave a vacuum to say the least. “Take me to her, Marie.” As he followed behind, the girl informed Ameer of what happened.

“While she was scrying, grandma had a horrible vision. Her mirror broke, and she suddenly began having a seizure! My sisters and I couldn't heal her.” They entered her grandmothers room. Ameer had never actually been to this house. He liked to keep things professional, especially with this non civilian work. He saw a queen sized bed against the back wall. 2 young ladies were beside it, one of a medium brown tone who was fourteen, was on her knees, holding the hands of the aged woman who laid on top. She was audibly crying. The other girl, who was dark skinned had recently reached her eighteenth year, was standing behind her younger sister with her hands on her shoulder, holding back her own tears.

Marie spoke “Grandma, he’s here.” Ameer began to walk over to the bed. As he approaches, he greets the other two girls. “Rose, Antoinette.” As he got closer to the bed, he saw a woman he almost didn’t recognize laying there. Though she was nearly 70, "Mama Mama" as she liked to be called, had always looked much younger than she was. Indeed, the last time Ameer saw her she still looked like a woman in her early 40’s, and now she looked to be nearly one hundred years old! Ameer could feel the terror radiating from the *mambo. The woman whispered faintly “come closer”. Ameer began the process of reaching out his hand, during which he thought to himself, “She's always been so strong. What could she have seen that left her body and mind drained like this?”

As Ameer reached out suddenly the woman, using the last of her physical strength, took his hand. Suddenly his mind was transported into a black void. Surrounding him in the distance were lights of infinite colors.

“ARE THOSE STARS? IS THIS SPACE?” Ameer’s thoughts echoed loudly within the mental plain. “STARS AND SOULS.” Looking behind him, Ameer saw Mama Mama looking like the one he always knew. A highly energetic, young looking woman. “THERE IS NO TIME FOR QUESTIONS BOY. I WILL USE THE LAST OF MY POWER TO PROTECT YOU. NOW PAY ATTENTION! IT’S STARTING!” Within this mind space, thoughts echoed loudly and intensely.

She placed her “hands” on Ameer’s “back”. She spoke: “LOOK DOWN”.

Ameer saw a visage of planet Earth below him. Suddenly, it was covered in light. The 7 colors of the rainbow, and finally completely white. It burst, and an omnidirectional shock wave of light spread forth. It engulfed the entire dreamscape and caused it to rumble like an earthquake! Ameer felt this and instantly knew why the mambo was dying. He had become wary years ago of the fact that powerful visions could have strong physical as well as mental effects, even well after after they were over. Even under the woman’s protection, Ameer “felt” “heat” and “force” from the shock wave. When the energy reached the lights in the distance, they themselves began bursting with energy, growing in size! He could hear Mama Mamas loud spiritual echo, as she writhed in “pain.”

“UUUUUURRRRRRGHHHH!!!!”

The forces Ameer felt began to multiply! Energy weighed down on him, despite Mamas protections. He could only imagine what the elder felt! He knew this vision would end her life and he knew there was nothing he could do about it. This was a feeling he knew all to well, despite who he was. Powerlessness. Though he mostly won in life, his losses deeply hurt him. Reading his mind, she responded. “I don’t mind dying for the greater good. Death is just another state of existence! Now pay attention. It’s important you see this!!” The “emphasis” and “tone” of her last sentence hijacked all of Ameer's senses. Even if he had been someone with no will to listen to her, he knew he would not have had a choice.

As Ameer looked down towards the light where the Earth had been, it suddenly turned black. Just as suddenly, he starts to feel immense weight as it tugs on him. He did not look in any other direction but he suddenly saw and “felt” lights racing past him. Indeed, they were being sucked into the area where the Earth had been. As they fell into the void, they were stretched, like neon ropes of various colors. "ALMOST LIKE A BLACK HOLE”, Ameer thought. Suddenly, the lights racing past him stopped. Or it was more like the ideas of light, color, and movement had simply disappeared from the realm. Ameer began to realize he was losing his grasp of these concepts. “No, I’m losing mmmm mmmm …?! ….Time… Lang” He then knew what horrified the woman. Somehow this vision, could delete ideas from the one who saw it!

Suddenly a surge came through Ameer! Mama Mama was behind him, still with her hands on his back, maintaining him. Yet even her soul began to age!

“I have enough Conceptual Energy to somewhat resist the effects of this vision, but you don’t! I let you experience the effect temporarily so you know what we stand against! Now, the last part!”

Ameer was actually horrified for the second time in his life. Suddenly, he felt a deep hatred, from within his own being and the entire mental space itself. The living hatred "burned" like both acid and heat! Suddenly within his “head” and around his being, Ameer “heard” and “felt” a voice that said:

“SEE AND BEHOLD, THIS IS DEATH ON THE DEEPEST LEVEL...”

This, however was no mere sentence. Though only 7 seconds had passed in reality since Ameer had entered the vision, for him it felt like years when the “echoing” finally stopped. Suddenly the void beneath Ameer turned white again. A much brighter white than a human should be able perceive. The ball of light suddenly ruptured. Ameer was blown away, and suddenly he was once again within the physical realm. “CRAAACK!!!” he crashed into the wall on the far side of the room. The sound emanated throughout the house. The concrete foundations cracked. Ameer looked up in time to see Mama floating, with every object in the room also floating in orbit around her. The woman began to fall. The eldest of her granddaughters, Rose caught her. BOOOM BOOOOM BOOOM BOOOOM!! The sounds echoed through out the house as objects started falling back to Earth.

Mama had aged again within the brief moments of sharing her vision with Ameer. Her visage was now that of a woman well into her hundreds. Her breathing labored heavily for two minutes. Her granddaughters sat next to her, holding her. Ameer stood next to them. Finally, the elder whispered faintly “please…stop…this”. She then drew her final breath. Her grand daughters began to cry. Though they had always been taught that death was no true end, the passing of their matriarch still weighed heavily on their hearts.

Ameer began to ponder what the vision he saw could mean. He had never had such an intense interaction with the supernatural! Even though he was the founder of the Soul Force and the one who funded their activities, he very much tried to keep magic at a distance. Yet, he knew he would have to take the reigns of this issue head on, whatever its true nature was. Suddenly, Ameer's communication watch began to ring.

“BINGBINGBINGBINGBING” “BINGBINGBINGBINGBING”

Ameer answered it. A holographic projection of a beautiful South Sudanese woman emerged. Ameer spoke “*Cherrae. Mama has just passed, and you won’t believe what I just saw!” The woman on the other end responded. . “WE NEED YOU BACK HERE IMMEDIATELY! WE WERE JUST ATTACKED!”

Ameer pauses. He could now hear sirens in the distance. “Surely it’s no big deal. You know the security measures I’ve put in place.” The woman responded. “They stole the ‘Rock’ Ameer.”

Now she had his full attention “WHAT?!”.

“THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR, AND HOW TO GET IT. THEY STOLE MOST OF THE ‘ROCK’”. Cherrae said, calmly but firmly.

Ameer's internal alarm bells went off. “There’s no way,” he thought to himself. “Could this have something to do with the vision?!” On his wrist watch he immediately activated the television function. He saw the report clear as day on the news. The anchor woman reported. “This is Bailey Williams ,reporting live from Atlanta! Just sixteen minutes ago, an explosion was detonated outside of Play Ray Enterprises!” Ameer cut the news off immediately. This statement was all he needed to hear to curb his disbelief. He knew Cherrae well, and that she liked to play practical jokes. Yet he could tell from her tone that she wasn’t joking. He just found it impossible that somebody would successfully manage to attack his facility, let alone steal the most dangerous object to ever exist. He quickly responded. “I’ll call you back. I have to get the girls out of here.”

“Rose, Marie, Antoinette. Wrap your grandmas body. Head out to the SUV. We must leave.” So the girls did as they were told. The group headed to the vehicle and hopped in the already open doors. The sirens were getting closer. “Jeeves”. The valet knew exactly what to do. He pressed a button on the car console. Suddenly, light bent around the vehicle, rendering it invisible. As the group sped off, Ameer looked at the news on the car screen. His home base, which also doubled as the main office for his company, had been attacked just 20 minutes ago. He though to himself “This is a bad sign. But I guess this confirms it. I need to make more Soul-Borgs!” The invisible car sped off in the darkness.
