7. Cultivating the Eye technique

Yun fei, skillfully and with utmost care skinned the gigantic bear saving the pelt to make clothess off as it was a perfect armour against all kinds of attacks

After eating a fourth of the bear, Yun Fei grew full. This meal could have fed a family of 4 for a week.

'This is the tastiest thing I've ever eaten in my life!" Yun Fei exclaimed, surprised at the taste of meat.

Although absorbing the Qi remnants in the flesh was far less efficient than directly drinking the blood, it was constant as the food was digested simultaneously by Yun Fei's abnormal metabolism. Just as Yun Fei felt full, he just dozed off to a dreamless sleep.

After Yun Fei woke up, he didn't know how long he had slept for and just walked towards the pond to wash himself, as Yun Fei was bathing in the pond. He looked at his reflection and was shocked.

He saw two horns growing out of his head from either side on the front, the horns were rugged and about a palms length long, his face and body was much smoother than before with blemishes and marks all gone though still a little tanned and when he opened his mouth, he could see longer canines than before. This made him lose whatever drowsiness he felt and and he immediately tried to figure out the changes his body had.

The first thing he realised was that he had almost overcome his limp. This made Yun Fei ecstatic as he happily walked back to his cave to meditate and feel this Qi.

Yun Fei sat down on the ground and closed his eyes, trying to feel every unit of his body. After not being able to sense too much, Yun Fei gulped a mouthful of the bear's blood and tried to sense the moment the blood went inside his body and released its energy deep inside his body, as the qi permeated, flowing to every inch of body

Following this wave of energy, Yun Fei saw that this mass consisted of infinitismal strands of energy that moved across his body in a chaotic manner, he noticed more such strands also moving to different parts of his body just like blood but this energy went to every cell of the body directly. These movements seemed random, but Yun Fei felt that they had a pround symmetry to them which he wasn't yet qualified to figure out.

'No need to overthink it currently, I have finally collected Qi in my body. Now the next step is to feel the Qi present in the atmosphere and slowly draw it inside my body, circulating it according to the first level of Sun Ming's technique.' thought Yun Fei after he stopped sensing the erratically flowing Qi in his body after some hours.

Yun Fei starting concentrating, spreading his senses thin trying to sense the Qi around him, remembering the feeling he had when he followed the strands of Qi that were moving around in his body.

After hours of continuous meditation, Yun Fei finally felt a thin strand of Qi making its way inside his body through his eyes and then joining the other strands in dancing about erratically in his body. Yun Fei kept this up for some more minutes and felt a few more strands of Qi entering his body after which he collapsed exhausted unable to keep it up anymore.

Since this was his first time gathering Qi from the atmosphere, he felt very tired so he forced himself up and roasted a fourth of the bear meat again and gulped it down with the bear blood which made him fall into a deep sleep once again.

After Yun Fei woke up, he tried to sense the strands of Qi in his body and noticed that there were now about almost double the strands than before.

Yun Fei once more started trying to absorb Qi from the atmosphere, this time he was a little faster in absorbing the strands, he kept this up for as long as he could and then he once again ate some bear meat with the blood and slept.

After doing this one more time, Yun Fei had much more Qi in his body and he could now also absorb much more Qi from than before.

Lost in cultivation he did not feel the passage of time

'Sun Ming, I will prove that I am worthy of all that you have done for me. I am not a waste, I can finally cultivate the first level of the eye technique' thought Yun Fei as his determination to reach the first level of the eye technique reached its peak.

Yun Fei recapitulated inside his mind, the method to cultivate this technique.

Yun Fei had to absorb strands of Qi from the atmosphere, directly into his eyes from very specific points and then circulate those strands in an order, through his head creating a cycle with increasing amount of Qi being drawn from the environment.

He started feeling out the specific spots in both of his eyes by drawing in Qi from his eyes and he found all the spots that were required to draw the Qi in simultaneously.

Feeling a little hungry, Yun Fei made a short trip outside his cave to retrieve some sustenance, but after eating the Qi filled bear, the meat of the animals tasted quite bland to him.

'Haaah, there are no animals that have cultivated Qi nearby, I have to satisfy my appetite with normal meat' Yun Fei sighed

He was still craving the taste of the meat of that bear.

Yun Fei tried to find more animals like the bear in the vicinity of the cave, but he couldn't find any noteworthy creatures miles of his cave so he returned to his cave to continue practicing the eye technique.

As Yun Fei had identified some of the spots in his eyes, he now progressed towards drawing in the Qi strands from the atmosphere and focused on pulling in Qi through those specific spots.

After spending some time trying to cultivate the technique, Yun Fei realised that this technique wasn't anything easy. In fact, he felt that the technique required a disheartening amount of effort and singular concentration.

Right now, Yun Fei could only draw in Qi from about 10 spots, 5 in each eye and he felt as if he were swimming against a mighty river. When he started drawing a single Qi strand for each eye, he only felt a very minor inconvenience but as the number of the spots increased a little, the minor inconvenience transformed into a feeling as if somebody had inserted needles into his eyes.

Pushing through the pain Yun Fei overdrew his will to increase the flow of strands.

"AHHHHHHH" Yun Fei screamed and blacked out.

'I just can't take in more than 10 strands right now, it is impossible for me to maintain that rate or I simply black out' Yun Fei considered after regaining consciousness.

'the rate at which my body draws in Qi from the environment is too low, it should be easier to increase the number of strands if the natural ability of my body to draw in Qi increases.

The rate for drawing in Qi should be directly proportional to the amount of Qi that is already in my body or the amount of Qi that my body has already absorbed.'

Yun Fei was correct, a demonic beasts cultivation progresses as it draws in Qi from the surroundings and the more Qi the demonic beast draws, the better it gets in pulling it in.

Thinking So, Yun Fei kept drawing in Qi from only the 10 spots and this time tried to rotate them as required by the technique.

A shuddering gasp echoed in the dark cave and then pants rang out rhythmically, Yun Fei's whole body was covered in sweat.

As he tried to move those qi strands together through the defined pathways, he felt pain in his head so intense that he could only gasp in shock.

"If I want benefits from the eye technique, I must experience the pain. No matter what, if I have a path I'll tread on it. Since Sun Ming can create this technique, I can atleast practice it.

It seem a bit different than what's described in the technique, it's as if the channels for circulation are absent in my body. I can still circulate the qi according to them, does that mean that they are blocked in some fashion. If so, I can only curse my luck and bear the pain retreat was never an option.

Yun Fei contemplated out loud..

'It has already been a month and I've only reached 20 strands in total, my progress is too slow and it is getting harder and harder to increase the no. of Qi strands, at least the feeling of the path being absent is fading' Yun Fei thought to himself as he looked at his flickering reflection in the pond.

Yun Fei had kept cultivating the technique for the whole month and bared through excruciating pain to keep those strands of Qi rotating in his head in the calculated paths. Recently Yun Fei felt as if his field of view had, expanded and he had a feeling that he could notice things even where his eyes weren't looking.

Yun Fei figured that it was probably an effect of cultivating the technique and ignored it for the moment.

The only solution to increasing his speed was hunting more beasts with a degree of qi cultivation and consuming them.

Yun Fei decided to leave this area of the forest behind, in search of stronger demonic beasts which he could consume to increase the amount of Qi in his body and speed up the cultivation of the eye technique.
