At the stroke of midnight Joe, an uncommon man simply waiting out a Celestial Event in his apartment, finds himself forced into a system at the whims of an unknown entity and transformed against his will and swears an oath of vengeance against the very system that has altered him. When next he awakens he finds himself chronologically displaced and devoid of many of the modern trappings most of civilization depends on. With monsters, both human and animal, roaming his former home survival is no guarantee for even the most prepared of individuals. The system whispers, calling for the survivors to forgo their civility and humanity, to embrace chaotic change and Darwinian competition where only the strong survive. Will Joe carry forth the light humanity has spent millennia forging or will he cast it aside in the name of simple survival? Is there but one way to evolve and is it the strong who achieve supremacy?
