A Prologue Like any other

A Prologue Like any other

The sun poured in through the cracks of my curtains as I slowly got up. You would imagine I would be free of the burdens of the average working man as I would be old enough to be their ancestors, but nooooo, you need money to live. Well in my case, to not be a speaking pile of bones. I remember a few years ago I actually had my body checked out, not sexually, of course, I am not that lucky. I went to a medical research park. I was always curious when I do starve myself in curiosity of my ability to not die, where does my body make the energy to continue speaking and the such? When I am almost obliterated with only slight parts of me left what does my body regenerate from? When I was burnt at the stake, why did I regenerate? Of course, I have given out the thought of dying as I have a new goal now. Anyways, I wanted to try and find out, with today's technology how I am able to do such things. I myself don't remember. I just realised one day I couldn't die. Maybe it was because when my friends turned 45 I was still 21. When they turned 60 I was still 21. When they died, I was still here.

Anyway, to convince them I was not a psychopath, I had to take part in some...Violent acts lets say. You would imagine that I would be all over the news after that day, but no there was nothing about me at all. They conducted their tests and yet they still could not realise how my body functioned. The only explanation they could theorise was evolution. They believed my body forced the surroundings CMB (cosmic microwave background radiation)  into a form of energy. The surrounding air would just somehow change (evolve) into embryonic stem cells, which would be used to rebuild my body. It only does this when my body is in danger, however. This theory, however, became inconclusive as that is practically impossible, the pressure and temperature around my body was not enough to force this to happen. CMB radiation is also very scarce. I left after that. Well, I snuck out and was almost stopped from leaving. That's a story for another day though.

So here we are. My new goal is to see how far I can exactly push my body. I'm always built back up to my peak after every 'death' So I am curious as to what happens If I continue pushing passed my peak, well my body is currently still repairing itself from when I starved myself. Currently, I work as a labourer, although I have the skills of a surgeon as that was my original profession, it's not like I can exactly show them my education history. Speaking of Identification, I have had my passport reissued countless times now all with a new and fake birth certificate, It is weird having '1898' attached to it while looking like a young man. That's not my birthday by the way. It's just when the passport was introduced to the country I was in at the time. I put on my clothes, a grey shirt and heavy trousers and heavy duty boots. My height was 6ft 1 and I had an average face, it was by no means chiselled. I never truly did care about my appearance. I continued staring at me in the mirror. Black hair and blacker yet, eyes.

After leaving at my house, I broke into a jog. I arrived at a building under construction.

"YO, Axle"

A short yet muscular man greeted me, he was my boss.

"Mornin, Matt"

After the usual routine of daily greetings, I was led to a false wall that needed deconstructing, I let out all my pent up stress and hate into the wall.

The clock continued to tick, eventually feeding into the lunch break.

"Damn Axle, the wall sleep with your wife or something?" A man joked after looking at the wall that I had been working on.

The man who was tall and stood towering over me, yet was skinny, was called Thomas or tom, which he prefered.

"No, It caused the death of one of my family members and I have sworn to kill every one of its race in vengeance"

"Wait, seriously?"

"Of course not you idiot"

We both broke into laughter.

"Come one everyone has started eating"

----------------------------------------

"Did you hear? It happened again, another town just disappeared"

"What do you think it is? It's not an alien invasion...right?"

What they were referring to were the towns that just up and disappeared one day. It had caused widespread panic and grief, especially for those who had people they knew living in those towns. The panic has subsided ever so slightly, however, as the government said they would try and solve this solution as fast as possible. The weirdest part, however, was that not only the people disappeared. The buildings, cars and even parts of the land vanished. First, there was shaking of the land before satellites picked up a circle-like image (like those found in anime, manga, novels, etc) before the disappearance. Well, it's not as it bothers me, it would solve the problem of whether I can die or not, If anything could kill me, it would be magic.

"I don't really care" The one who spoke now was the apprentice, 17, who had short brown hair and blue eyes.

"What are the chances of it happening he-"

RUMBLE!

He couldn't finish his sentence as the ground started to shake and a sentence appeared in front of my eyes.

{Prepare yourself, Young Warrior}

{System-Initialising}

The world around me changed to a blinding white. I couldn't help but smile after such a long time, I felt it again...Excitement.
