Chapter 8 part 2

Chapter

“You coming?”

I looked at Carl, the mage I had done a few missions with, there had been beginner missions so they weren’t hard or anything, but now, we were about to take on a Guild Dungeon, this was the first real test for me in this VRMMORPG world I was in.

Perhaps that was why I felt anxious, or maybe it was something else.

“Y-Yeah,” I said as we both went toward the city, where the guild building was located in.

The Guild building was a large building that stood in the middle of the city, almost like an intersection within the city. I saw other adventurers going in and out of it, like cars going and passing.

“Shall we,” Carl said, as I walked behind him.

Inside the building, it felt like an old library of sorts you see in fantasy stories, with shelf after shelf stacked on each floor, and in the middle was a desk with the Guild receptionist.

“Hello Max and Carl,” she said waving at us. She had on a ponytail today with her guild uniform neatly draped over her figure.

“How have you guys been? Have you guys finished all your beginner missions? “ she asked smiling at us.

“Yes ma’am,” Carl said smirking at her.

“Yes we have,” I said in a more serious tone. This was business after all.

“Me and Max are ready to take on the Guild missions,” Carl said, not being able to contain his excitement, which honestly I found quite contagious. After all, this was going to be our first dudgeon in this game.

“That’s great, but first I need to make sure you guys are at the required level,” she said, extending her hand at us,

“Why don’t I start with you first, Max.”

“O-Okay,” I said, giving her my hand.

She looked at me and smiled as she began to inspect my character status. Her eyes began to glow and I could see a bunch of information running down her eyes as if she was looking at a computer screen in front of her.

After a few minutes, she smiled at me.

“Did you guys hear about this new restaurant that opened up in the city,” she said, as she was inspecting my status windows.

“Restaurant,” I thought wondering what that had to do with what we were doing.

“Yeah, I heard about it,” Carl said, as he leaned against the desk, facing toward the lobby.

“Is so popular is so hard to even get reservations.”

“It is but luckily I got two of them,” she said,

“REALLY !” Carl said, jumping with excitement that garnered the attention of other adventurers in the area,

“Sorry! Sorry!” He said, lowering his head and apologizing.

“How did you manage to do that?” he said, leaning close to Amanda. which made me jealous for a second, but I brushed those thoughts aside.

“The Guild received some special reservations that we can use anytime we want, but is too bad I don’t have anyone to go with,” she said.

“All done.”

“Lv 18, perfect.”

“Thanks,” I said, looking at her.

“No problem Max.”

“My turn,” Carl said, giving her his hand,

“No need, since dungeon levels require groups and you and Max are going to be in a group, I can see your guys' level, here I’ll show you.”

“Team view,” she said, and the next thing I saw was a group invite in front of me floating mid-air.

“Go ahead and accept,”

“O-Of course,” I said, accepting her group invite, a small window appeared in front of me showing me her and Carl’s level.

“Oh! Nice,” Carl said, as he was messing around with the group options,

"We can even designate the group leader and everything as well in the settings option, even as tag them and see their location.”

“ The group option window is very useful to keep track of your teams' status as well as location, and now for the main event you guys came for,” she said,

An invite appeared in front of us, and with it the name of the first dungeon we were about to do.

“Cavern Mines.” I read it, and for some reason saying the name brought a chill of excitement down my spine.

“ All done, now whenever you guys want to do the dungeon just pull up the option windows for it and it should teleport you to the entrance of the dungeon.”

“I can’t wait,” Carl said,

"Now that you guys are all set, I'll take my leave," she said, as she left the group, her name disappeared from the group window that was in front of us.

“Good luck you guys and who knows, you might even win more than just a dungeon prize,” she said winking at me, or so I was sure, or perhaps I must have imagined it. But I was sure she did.

“Thanks, Amanda,” Carl said, as we began to walk out of the dungeon building. I looked back at her and thought about her words.

“Could that perhaps have been an invitation to a date?” I wondered as we made our way toward our very first guild dungeon,
