Chapter 2 - Introduction to Transformation

Chapter 2 - Introduction to Transformation

Some time after gaining the fishing skill, I was aimlessly walking around. It was already long past midday, though it would still take some hours before it becomes dark.

without any warnings, Vers suddenly asked me.

*Hoo, that was surprisin'.* I thought inside, I was shocked because she suddenly spoke up while I was walking around the city.

She was still hidden inside my vest. Though she said she was disguising as a pixie, according to her, a contracted fairy was still rare. She said that we would become the center of attention if people saw her moving around. Well, it would really be inconvenient if that were to happen...

"Hmm... I've already told ya' my goal right? To learn magic. So, I'll be findin' ways to learn different types of magic." I bluntly answered.

she informed me.

"Guild? Ya' mean like organizations?" I asked her.

Vers briefly explained to me.

"Skill book, eh?" somehow, that term sparks something in my mind.

*Hmm... What is it...? I feel like I'm forgettin' somethin' important* I thought to myself while continuing walking at the same pace.

Suddenly I came into a halt.

"Ah!" I remembered the magic grimoire I've used as a bet. It took a hell of effort to get it. I was really dejected when I've tried copying what the book indicated. I couldn't even use the weakest of spell written inside.

*If I remember right, that book was teachin' transformation magic...* I thought to myself as I was searching for it inside my hidden storage.(Given by the institute of war. A 7 slot storage that can store and return items. Even if it's inside the storage, I could still get their effects. Though, only certain items can be stored in my seventh slot.)

"Lucky me, it's here!" I exclaimed after finding it.

asked Vers.

"A magic book. Though, I ain't sure if it would work the same way as a skill book ova' here..." I told her my sentiments.

she said she poked out her head from my pocket.

Wasting no time, I followed her suggestion.

"Learn" I said the command while holding the book in question.

*Dammit. 400 and 1000?! How long would this thin' take?!* I sighed out of frustration. I was thinking for the ways to fulfill the requirements using the knowledge I learnt in this world.(Mostly gained from Vers)

*Wait a second... There's that thin'! I wonder if this could work? Theoretically, it should be possible...* I formed a crooked smile. Though, it only lasted for a few second. I almost immediately returned my countenance into an unreadable one.

Vers worriedly asked. Even though the change in my expression was only for a few seconds, she noticed it. And she knows that this isn't going to be good. For others, at least.

"Nothin' much. An idea struck me." I responded back, reassuring her.

<...> seems like Vers didn't like the fact about me getting an idea. It seems like through our conversations, she found out about my personality and what type of person I am. A huge trouble-making gambler.

I could only smile slyly as I thought about the possible opinions Vers had about me.

"Well then let's try it. It's now all up to luck." I suddenly said, which makes the little fairy's unease worsen.

First of all, I moved away from plain sight. I couldn't found an alleyway but I still found a place which wasn't crowded.

Then I started with an experiment, taking out all I need. Of course, the skill book... And also, ---Amplifying Ring. (As you may have already guessed.)

I stared at the ring, trying to feel the power it emits...

"Runic Blessin' " I've said the command, the pale bluish light got bright. Though, it wasn't on a blinding level, the change was from a firefly's to a light bulb's.

This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.

Remembering the effects of the ring, Vers suddenly said in an impressed tone.

"Well, I can't promise. But at least, I'll take it in consideration." I told her seriously.

she hesitantly replied.

"Anyways, I ain't got much time..." I've said and then firmly held into the skill book. "Learn" I've said the command again.

'Ding!'

You have learnt the following skills:-Object Transformation Beginner Level 1

-Body Transformation Beginner Level 1

*Yes! Lady luck is smilin'.* I was so happy, I smiled broadly.

"Let's see them quickly. Check recently learnt skills." I said while unable to hold back my excitement.

Object Transformation (Active)

Beginner Level 1 - 0%

Transforms an object into another of similar property.

Can only change the physical form of the object.

Mana cost: Varies

Warning: At this current level, there is a mana cost over time.(Unless cast with preservation spell)Body Transformation (Active)

Beginner Level 1 - 0%

Transforms part of your body using your imagination.

Can only use simple transformation at your level.

Mana cost: Varies

Warning: When an NPC sees something unusual with you, they may get afraid.

*Great! I've learnt another magic. All my efforts ain't fer naught! This means, I can learn more magic from this world.* I couldn't hide my joy at finally finding the gate to my dreams.

"Let's try it out." I said excitedly.

I picked up a small stone, closed my eyes then imagined a stone sword.

"Object Transformation" after saying the command, the object slowly turned into the object in my mind. The bigger it became, the heavier it got.

The mana drain was every 3 every 5 seconds. It wasn't much when compared to my buffed stats. My maximum mana was also multiplied by ten.

I swung it around for a while, feeling it's weight and its characteristics.

Runic blessing has 1 and a half minute left

*Crap.* I thought. I wanted to try out both but I got too happy with gaining magic that I almost forgot about the time limit of my ring.

"Cancel Object Transformation" I quickly said, the sword slowly shrunk and returned to its original form. The mana over time cost was also stopped.

Then I closed my eyes yet again and imagined to have the sharp claws of a wolf.

"Body Transformation"

After saying those words, my nails slowly got longer and sharper. It was just a simple transformation but it took 8 seconds to finish changing. The complete mana cost of the transformation was 300 MP.

When it was done, I played around with my claws, checking what they can do. I lost some HP in the process though. I idiotically tried closing my hand, well, it didn't turn out well as it got embedded in my skin. I had to turn it off to remove it.

Using the remaining time of the buff, I tried out some other body transformation. I found out that I could even make part of my body invisible. Also, I could change my part of my body into inanimate objects(like stone or hammer or sword, etc). Of course, each had it's own bonus and penalties.

After a bit, the expected message came. The Runic Blessing is now gone.

"Check Amplifying Ring Information Window." I've said. I want to see the effects again.

'Ding!'

Amplifying Ring x 10 - Durability 17/20

An ultra rare ring enchanted with various runes by a master runesmith. It is made out of Manamite- a rare metal filled with mana, it emits a pale blue light. Naturally repairs over time because of being exposed to mana. (+1 durability per 3 days.)

Mental stats +30

Runic Blessing(Active)

Mental stats x 10 for 5 minutes.

Can be used once a day.

Takes 3 durability every usage.

*Hmm... So it'd take 9 days ta' regain the lost durability. It's a strong item if used wisely. I can't simply use it every day due ta' its limited durability...* I thought to myself, planning my future activities.

"Hey Vers, whaddya think we should do now?" I asked my little companion.

Vers answered me back, poking his head out.

"Alrighty then." I fixed my posture and then started to walk, finding a place which would take us in for the night.

------------------------------------------

I opened the wooden door of an tavern. 'INN LUCK' was its name. I looked around the place. This was apparently the most popular tavern on the city. After entering the place, you would see people merry making. Drunkards, travellers, soldiers and players... Different types of people were around, some human, some not. Next to the reception desk where people who want to stay for the night goes were two stairs, one going up, the other going down.

*Hmm... A basement, eh?* I thought to myself as I silently walked towards the person handling the lodgings.

"Hello, welcome to Inn Luck, how may I help you?" It was a gentle female voice. Even though she wasn't speaking loudly, I could still clearly hear her voice even through the loud noise the people around were making. She's a little smaller than me height-wise, though, that means she's rather tall for a female since I'm quite tall myself. She has a copper-red hair which is tied in a ponytail and sharp looking emerald green eyes.

"1 room. 1 bed. 3 days and 3 nights." I curtly answered. I still wanted to go around this city for a while before finally starting my journey.

"Alright sir." she said as she took some keys. "That would be 20 silver, though food isn't counted in that service." the woman explained.

"That's fine." I answered back as I took the keys and left the payment.

*Haaa...* I leaked out a sigh showing my exhaustion.

As I was walking upstairs, I've heard a faint noise of people shouting through the noise the people on the first floor were making. Though, I was too tired to bother with it.

I used the key to open the door to my rented room. After entering and closing the door, I immediately went to the bed to lay my tired body.

"Goodnight, Vers" I said. I saw Vers coming out of my pocket and flying around for a bit before laying down on my body to use me as a cushion.

She answered back. My eyelids felt really heavy so I fell in deep sleep just a few moments afterwards.

Author's Note(Grumblings):

Yo! The new chapter's finished. I'm not sure when I'd be able to finish the next one due to my ATS (Acute Toomanythingstodo Syndrome), Lowmorale Disease and my Chronic Lazinesuitis.

Anyways, he finally gains new magic! (Some of you might have already guessed what he could do when he mastered those two skills. If not, then guess it. :3)

I edited the previous chapter to nerf the Amp. Ring, by the way. (I just noticed how OP it actually was.)

Anyways, I still have no main plot but it'll come when it does. I already have a vague idea for the next few chapter anyways...

Oh, sorry for those who were expecting Graves. It would take some time before meeting again with TF, though, I would put Graves' progress every now and then.

That's all for now. See ya next chapter. (Comments and Critical Remarks are welcome, though please do it in moderation. Suggestions are also very much welcome. I get some ideas every now and then.)
