Epilogue

White was all that could be seen with the naked eye. The walls, the floor, and the ceiling, all just thick layers of white and glass. But Adrien knew there was much more. He could sense the hidden cameras watching him from every corner in the room, protected by layers of glass that prevented him from getting to them.

In the center, a robotic figure sat on the ground in a meditation-like position. Blue lines flowed through the cracks and circuitry where green lines used to be. And his single green orb at the center of his face whirred with lines of activity. Adrien had been like this ever since he was locked in here, slowly repairing his damaged body with what he had left.

He had only just gotten out of the Network, and now here he was, trapped again by his worst enemy. But he wasn't really trapped, the robotic figure stirred a little as he stared into a dark corner of the room where he knew a camera was watching him intently.

"I know you're there, Marcus." Adrien whispered in his mind. "You know this place can't hold me forever, and you're scared of what I'll do once I'm free."

During his time, he had been given plenty of time to actually think. Something that might have actually saved him some effort, but instead he must've gotten too carried away. Power really does do crazy things to the mind.

But now, he can finally just rest, seeing as how he couldn't do much of anything else. He wondered in his mind, replaying the events, and thinking of what went wrong and how he could change things.

Marcus could barely do anything against him, at the times he wasn't even ready, and as much as Adrien hated the thought. Marcus would be a lot harder to deal with now that he had time to prepare.

But he wasn't the main problem that stopped his plans, no it was that stupid Guardian and his annoying girl that kept getting in his way. He should've dealt with both of them when he had the chance. Well, he would make sure he didn't make the same mistakes twice.

Suddenly, Adrien sensed footsteps coming down towards his cell. He had been placed relatively close to the city, and the cell wasn't perfect, probably just a modified solitary confinement cell inside of the Horizon City prison. The footsteps weren't anything special, but Adrien felt a different kind of presence from this one. They weren't a guard, that was for certain with how they walked in such an un-uniform fashion.

"What is it that you want?" Adrien hissed as the footsteps stopped at the locked entrance to his cell. The first layer of the door closest to his cell then opened about halfway, although there was still a thick layer of glass, Adrien could still see the man disguised in a guard's uniform standing before him.

"I have business to discuss, doctor." The man looked up at Adrien with dangerous hazel eyes, then he pulled up the sleeve of his right arm to reveal a black tattoo in the shape of a dragon.

Adrien sat up from his previous position as he recognized the tattoo very clearly.

"It better be good."

The man smirked. "I understand that you seek revenge against Marcus Zone. And that you've been having some difficulty."

"If you wish to help me destroy Marcus, then you can focus on the barriers in my way."

"We can help get you out of this prison, but in exchange we'll need your expert abilities."

"The prison isn't the problem. My main barrier is Marcus's puppet."

"I see, but don't worry, we've already been preparing for his retirement."

"And how do you plan to do that?"

"You see, despite the stoic courage and determined strength that he shows, he is actually quite fragile. The people of the city that he claims to protect may see him as a hero, as their guardian. But what I see is a ticking time bomb, waiting for just the right push of a button."

"How...interesting."

Although he didn't show it, inside Adrien couldn't help but smile as he calculated the possibilities and was already forming plans. The Black Dragons may not be the most ideal partners, but they'll have to do for now. This virus won't stop me. Your puppet won't stop me. And when I get out of here, you better be prepared for the fate I've prepared for you, Marcus!
