The feeling of having your own head pop like a balloon, swiftly flying in every direction, is less painful then one might think.  At least in the sense that you won’t feel much at all, you just die instantly without any pre death suffering. In the rankings of the least painful way to die this should be one of the top ones, I mean before you know it you’re just dead, just plain dead..

Even though it might not be very painful for me, the witness of this death would without doubt be scared for life. Blood flying everywhere, brain tissue sticking to the surroundings and a headless body falling to ground. Just imagining the horror this spectacle might befall someone is nauseating to the point of torture. Sadly this was the way I died.

It was early morning and the sun was both southing and annoying. As I took a detour home from work I couldn't help but regretting the decision. The weather was just too hot; people were sweating all around and fled in every direction at purpose of finding that sweet shade that would wash away all their suffering. I had not fed the cat in over one day so needless to say I had to hurry home not even putting the thought of resting in my mind. The purpose of the detour was in actuality a leap of faith that I would discover some shortcut, since I did not want to spend another second in this southing yet lethal sun.  As sweat was pouring from my body and my eyes was clenching from the blinding ball of light a man appeared before me. He had an umbrella, seemed to be in his forty’s wearing glasses with an overall kind outer appearance.

He smiled before he opened his mouth showing the kindness in both his eyes and face “Hey get under here if you’re having a hard time”

I couldn’t help but smile back at the kind man “Thank you sir that’s very kind of you”

I quickly shuffled under the man’s umbrella and started walking down the long street I was currently on. The street only led in one direction and we were therefore both headed in the same direction. This was a suburban area just outside a larger city, houses with big well cut lawns were all around. Sadly no one could actually take the scorching sun on this particular day so they kept themselves inside. Even if this was the case, the smell of people starting their grills or barbecues could easily be distinguished in the air.

The kind man with glasses starred at me for a second or two with a hint of smile before he decided to speak “Going home from work I presume?”

I smiled back “Yes that is correct, I work with computer so I have been mostly inside this day. Coming from inside into the scorching sun made everything a bit unpleasant, haha”

The kind man kept his hint of smile “haha, well we all got to work don’t we. It’s funny though people saying,- why is there never any sun?- just last week, and now they are complaining about it being too hot, it’s almost ironic”

I couldn’t help but nod in agreement “That’s human nature, I suppose we always crave what we do not have”

The kind man with glasses nodded “I agree, where do you live by the way because I have to take a left at the next intersection”

“I also live left at Greendale Street, very close to the intersection. So I would be grateful if I could follow you all the way there”

The man with the glasses showed a teeth less smile and nodded

When we arrived at the intersection my head started pounding all of a sudden, it could compare to the awful headache you get after a hard night of partying. There was something pounding inside, hard like a drum, boom, and boom. The kind old man could see my sudden distress and stopped walking and looked at me with a concerned look “What’s the matter? Are you okay?”

I couldn’t force myself to look up; the pain was just to great I just stared down at concrete not adverting my gaze “I am sorry but I just suddenly got an awful headache, just wait a moment hopefully it will subside”

I couldn’t see the man’s face but the words that came out of his mouth was all but strange “Super te Deus tuus fidelis aeterna luceat lux. Donum vitae aeternae.

In manus metentium relinquo”

I couldn’t make out what that language was but as he spoke my head splitting headache slowly started to subside. Was this some ancient voodoo thing? I was scientific man how could I believe in such nonsense, but as soon as he spoke the last words my headaches decreased I mean how is that even possible? It might have just been a coincidence though.

As the headaches were decreasing at a fascinating rate, I turned my head and looked up to the man with glasses. He had a bright toothless smile on his face, his kind eyes by themselves was almost southing. I couldn’t help but smile back “What did you just say there? Whatever it was it seemed to have some magical effect on my headaches, haha”

The kind man smiled back “Nothing really just some words”

But as soon as he was done talking the headaches returned now at twice the power it seemed, it felt like someone put a chainsaw to my brain and started hammering at it. This amount of pain from a headache was unheard of; at least that is what I think. Before I could grasp the amount of strength of these pounding headaches it steadily decided to grow even more, and more, and more…

The kind man started chanting like crazy; words that I had no idea what they meant flew out of his mouth, but before I knew it the sound of him yammering was all but gone. I had left, left earth, I had died.

Before I knew it I felt my very being thorn from my body, an experience that could only be described as similar to when you smoked a little too much marijuana in college and felt like you were no longer connected to your body.  My subconscious flew up in the air so that I could witness the scene that had just occurred. Time was frozen almost deliberately so that I could confirm my own death; needless to say my mind was a mess.

And there it was, my head had exploded like a water balloon… The kind man’s face which only reflected bright light kindness was all but gone. Instead he had a terrified pale look; this scene would without a doubt scar someone for life. My legacy to the world was therefore the destruction of this kind man’s life and probably the death of a very kind cat at home. My parents died long ago, I lived alone, had no children, no legacy… Instead I left the earth destroying a man’s life, killing a cute little cat and causing my stupid friends’ grief for weeks and the reason: a fucking headache.

Fuck, just plain fuck. That was all that came to mind as the scene of me dying was getting darker and darker. It seems like I am either going to heaven or that I will disappear forever, strangely I did not feel panicked, I didn’t feel grief. I just felt a hot burning anger, how can a head just explode like that…. The thought of the events just left me dumbfounded and before I knew it everything turned dark.

---

Ahh what is this light, I can’t see shit but for some reason I have returned here.

As no time at all had passed my conscious came back and all that I could see was light so damn bright that it was at least 10 times worse then the sun just a moment ago.  But how the hell could I see light, I mean my head exploded like a balloon, I even saw brain tissue fly all around. Unless someone has super powers there is no way in hell that I could have survived that…

What is this liquid that I can feel

Moving my hands around I could sense and feel liquid around me, I couldn’t see it so I had no idea what it was but it felt familiar in some way.  As I thought that my hearing started to return, but instead of speech or the sound of the wind all I could hear was this intense tinnitus sound like the movies when people were too close to an exploding grenade. As I was thinking that the sound intensified even more almost to the point of exploding my head once again. Fuck no this shit again…

But to my surprise Instead it went in reverse and started decreasing. Yes!!!... As I was thinking that I could feel something touching my body and before I knew I was lifted up into the air. I could feel the wind pressure against my skin and the feeling of being lifted was therefore not hard to figure out.  As I felt the wind pressure decrease and that my body had made a stop in midair the brightness in my eyes also slowly subsided. Before I knew I could finally lay my eyes on the world once again.

What the fuck?

That was the first reaction that came to mind. Before my eyes were a strange looking man, definitely not someone I have seen before. A male face stood before my gaze, he seemed male even though he had particular feminine features. He had long snow white hair something never before seen on a man of his young age. Based on his complexion he should be around his twenties much younger than me. He had a triangle faced jawline, smooth white skin; his eyes were wide and almond-shaped, and filled with large, vibrantly colored blue pupil. His nose was rather crocked and was way too big in proportion to his face. The most shocking feature of all was that he had pointed ears, not the point of the elves in lord of the rings or other games and movies but it was definitely noticeable. The overall impression of the man was that he looked graceful but ugly; I mean the nose was just so out of proportion it made everything else just wither away.  He had a big large smile on his face; the smile was so huge and sincere that one might think this was the best day of his life.

As I was done inspecting the graceful yet ugly man I once again felt the air pressure against my skin as I was handed over in a direction opposite to where I was looking. As I was handed away I caught a glimpse of his outer appearance, he was wearing a thin leather tunic with shorts on. He appeared taller than the average human and possessed a graceful, slender physique. I was now in the embrace of another figure, as I starred up at the being before me my heart could help skipping a beat. Before me was a female, her beauty was breath taking. Once again a triangular jawline with a smaller face and the most beautiful eyes which were wide and almond-shaped, and filled with large, vibrantly colored blue pupils. Her complexion was perfect as her ashen face starred down at me, her hair was once again white but this time it only added to gracefulness of her being. Contrary to the man her face was just perfect in proportion, such perfection smiled down at me with a caring and nurturing smile as she slowly rocked me between her arms.

At that moment I realized that I was with all certainty a baby. I mean this kind of smile was without a doubt directed against someone they love dearly. I was also in someone’s arms, if I was small enough for that then baby was the only logical conclusion. To further confirm my theory I stared down at my hands, and my god they were tiny…

Being reborn, this is certainly odd… I mean I did die an unjust and random death so it would only be fair for god to let me have a second try would it not?
