- Okay, not bad, and now pull the string harder-
- It's easy for you to say! -
Damn, and yesterday it seemed like a good idea to me! Who knew archery was so difficult.
After the guy noticed the target for the bow, he lit up with a dream to learn how to shoot. However, this is not surprising, if this world is really close to the game, then there is nothing for him to do here without owning a weapon. The bow in this regard was a good solution, because, given his first level and lack of skills, his position was clearly disadvantageous against enemies. The bow will also allow you to strike at a distance and not get damaged (at least against low-level monsters), which means it will increase his chances of survival.
That's what he used to think, but after training, his hands began to drop by themselves. Lukrut has been practicing shooting for several hours, but so far only three arrows have reached the target and only one of them hit the center.
-Don't worry, you will succeed-
Sam Mirrow
LV3
Hunter
[Careful] [Archer] [???]
Sam is one of the few in this village whose level is higher than the first, in fact, he is the second such, after Flora, whom the young man met.
After Lukrut came to the village in the morning, he, on the advice of Krei, went to Sam. He immediately agreed to teach him how to shoot (which is logical for NPS).
Another arrow, launched by Lukrut, flew to the target, but again did not hit the center.
Heck! If I shoot like that in battle, I will definitely die.
He dropped his hands in resignation and sighed, it seems that now we will have to give up this idea.
Skill: Archery
Status: mastered
LV: 1
The unexpected notification made the guy shudder, and the bow slipped out and fell to the ground.
For some time he stood in a stupor, staring at one point, which clearly surprised his teacher.
- Are you okay? -
- M? Yes, in full - Smiling, Lukrut picked up the bow from the ground and took out an arrow.
- Shall we continue?-
- Well, since everything is fine with you, then come on-
Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.
This time everything was different:the trembling in the hands disappeared, the movements became clear and smooth, the bowstring, the whole body visibly relaxed, even the target seemed to be moved closer. But most importantly..... a marker appeared. The red cross came into view after Lukrut pulled the bowstring and raised the bow. The guy was barely holding back a smile, after all, such a reaction could embarrass Sam.
Sighing and pointing the marker at the target, Lukrut released the bowstring. The arrow blurred towards the target and entered the very center with a muffled thud.
- Wow! Great shot!-
-Thank you, teacher - The guy even laughed when he saw Sam's enthusiastic face. If only he knew his disciple's secret.... he probably would have wondered why he hadn't shot like that before. However, Lukrut himself could not answer this question, he had no idea why this skill was activated right now.
After taking a little rest, he fired a dozen more arrows, of which only three hit the center, and the rest, although they hit the target, but were located on its periphery. It might seem that the young man still could not use his skill, but it was not so. In fact, all the arrows hit where the shooter sent them. Agree, it would be strange if a person who has never held a bow in his hand, after the first training, hit the target without a miss. Such skill could cause unnecessary questions among the inhabitants of the island. Therefore, the guy just aimed not at the center, but at other sectors of the target, pretending that he was still mastering shooting, but even so, his progress seemed very high.
Lukrut also made another important discovery. When he tried to swipe the marker out of sight, it disappeared, and with it the shooting skill was disabled. After that, the arrow he fired deviated significantly from the target, although it hit the target. When he thought about the skill, the marker reappeared in front of him, and the arrows flew along the set trajectory again. Thus, Lukrut realized that skills can be disabled and acted on, relying on his own skill.
This made me think about the need to upgrade some skills without the help of the system. After all, if for some reason, Lukrut will not be able to apply skills using the control panel, he will become extremely vulnerable to enemies from this world, since they pump skills without the help of the system.
Well, this only proves once again the ambiguity of this game world.
"I think that's enough for today," Sam said, approaching the young man. From his ill-restrained joy, it was clear that he was very impressed with his student's abilities.
- I agree, it's incredibly exhausting - said Lukrut, handing the bow and quiver to their owner.
- no. Keep them for yourself - Sam replied with a negative shake of his head -You can train here at any time-
-Thank you!-
-Oh yes, in two days I'm going hunting on a neighboring island, I can take you with me-
-Really? I agree! -
-But-Sam grinned mysteriously and took out an object from the bag behind his back
- First of all, you have to prove that my lessons were not in vain for you -
Having said that, he took a few steps back and put the object on top of the target
- Knock down an apple - clear and short
Lukrut pretended to be surprised and even worried, but inside he was jubilant. There was no reason to take risks, so the young man pulled the bowstring and thought about the goal. The familiar red marker immediately appeared to the right of the target, it would be too easy. Pulling his hand back, the young man pulled a light bowstring, as if he had been doing this all his life and lowered the arrow.
The pierced apple, along with the arrow, flew several meters and fell to the ground. As if not knowing that this would happen, Lukrut once again feigned surprise.
"Well?" Will you take me with you?-
- Of course! To be honest, I would have taken you anyway, I just wanted to see what you are capable of again-
-......-
-Anyway, I'm waiting for you in two days on the beach in a fishing village-
-Okay, I'll be there-
-Great, see you later-
-Goodbye- After waiting for the teacher to go far enough, Lukrut drew attention to a small icon flashing in the edge of his field of vision.
