Draconic Sage

Draconic Sage

How long has he been on the run? Days, weeks, months, years? Ethan felt as if time kept speeding up if he was not paying attention to it. Ethan could pass out at any moment if he gets distracted. He just needs to head somewhere where no one knows his face or his name.

“There should be a *cough cough* a dock in this town.” Ethan stumbles along the way trying to get to higher ground so he can see his surroundings.

As Ethan comes up to the tip of the hill, he spots a big town near the shore. As he looks around he spots a dirt road that leads to this town, so at least he won’t have to deal with rough terrain with his state. As he sets his eyes back near the Town he sees a boat in the distance and realizes that if he doesn’t get on the boat now this might be his last chance to leave this place before his pursuers catch him.

“Shit I need to hurry!” As he tries to run down the hill, due to his exhaustion he trips and starts falling down the hill.

As he tumbles down there is this person about to walk where Ethan was falling and they are about to collide. Ethan seemed to be out of it the minute he hit the floor so he has no way to stop or slow down. Right as Ethan was about to collide the person who he was about to hit caught him with extreme ease.

Ethan opened his eyes, “I don’t recognise this ceiling… WHERE AM I?!?!?”

“Calm down boy, you fell pretty hard back there. Not only were you close to death with how malnourished you were. You were out for 2 weeks, surprised death hadn’t come to take your head.” said an old man's voice coming from outside the room.

As he takes a closer look at the room it seems that this was a dorm room of sorts. There were twelve beds, six on either side. A small drawer for each bed. He finally notices that he is wearing a white t-shirt, and khaki colored shorts. As he opens the drawer near the bed he was using and sees his old tattered clothes.

“If you are wondering about what we did to you while you were unconscious, come to the dining hall, we have food prepared. I will leave a note on the floor, it will have directions to the dining hall.” As the old man walks away from the door, Ethan notices that hearing this old man’s voice makes him feel calm.

After a long journey of running Ethan finally has a moment to be in peace. Constantly being chased he could not think of anything but to run. ‘If these people are not dangerous maybe I can hide here until they find out who I am’ he thought while preparing mentaly for when he entered the dining hall. He opens the door and takes the note that he put there. Take a left until you get to the diverging paths inside, go to the right. Once you see a vase with flowers turn left one more time, look straight and then open that door.’

While he walks, Ethan notices how unique this place is. It isn’t anything similar to what they made back in his hometown. The corners of walls were curvy and they seemed to be made from some weird type of green wood. As Ethan walks to the hallway he notices the color of the walls change color depending on which way you go. The left is more of a light blue turning into a regular blue. The right side seems to be light brown into brown. He goes to the right as the paper said.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

‘ *Growwwwwwwl* How long has it been since I’ve eaten a proper meal?’ As he wonders this he starts hearing some noises the closer he gets to the hall. It sounds like they are having a party of sorts.

While walking Ethan feels like someone is watching him. As he looks around him he spots the vase. It has some purple flowers, wisteria perhaps. This place from Ethan’s perspective, “Am I just dreaming all this? This is too random to be part of reality.”

‘There it is, the dining hall’ gulps. “Hello I‘m here. Mayente- I mean, ahem. May I enter?”

Confused, Ethan knocks on the door and asks if he may enter but louder almost at a yell, but to his surprise they didn’t answer. Ethan just stood there wondering what he could do, he didn’t know whether to just open it up and ruin the mood or it might be a trap or something.

As he stood there pondering, a large figure started to walk right up behind Ethan. Because he was busy jumping to crazy conclusions on what he wants to do he doesn’t notice. As Ethan stopped considering the options and noticed a large shadow over him.

“Move.” This giant of a person gives off a very intimidating aura just by his looks alone. He didn’t sound like the old man, but he did sound pissed off.

As he stood there menacingly. Before I even went aside he started walking towards the hall. I stumble moving out of the way, and as the doors open I see a huge feast with at least 30 people gathered here from what I have seen.

Before the door closes on him, Ethan slips through to see a very diverse room. He has heard of other races other than humans but he has never seen them in real life. From what he could see at first glance there were; Gnomes, Elves, Beastman of different varieties, and if he was looking correctly a fish person.

“Ah, it seems that our patient seems to have awakened from his slumber, drarararara!” He says that in a weird laugh.

Ethan instantly recognized that voice and turned towards it. At the same moment the old man spoke everyone started to quiet down and look at Ethan. However, Ethan was entranced by the crimson red scales that the old man had. He had seen lizardmen before while on a trip out with his father, but none have looked like this so it was hard for him not to stare.

“Why don’t you introduce yourself? We haven’t gotten your name since you were out.”

This snapped Ethan out of his trance, and started to stumble on his words.

“I am literature, I was going to teach Ethan Crane but runaway happened so I had to due to incidents at a school of chasers and then students.”

Everyone started laughing immediately, and Ethan felt like he should just run away, but this time of embarrassment. As he continues to shrink, the crimson red old man tells them to quiet down.

“So your name is Ethan Crane and you wanted to teach some literature at a school where you came from but something happened, and you are being chased and can no longer do that. Is this right?” Ethan nods as he stands back up.

“Well, if you want you can open up about how you ended up the way you did but you don’t have too. This entire village is made from people being chased from wrongful accusations or hunted down. Obviously I won’t bring in just anyone, I have to tell whether they are a decent enough person to be allowed in.”

“I was in charge of a rebellion against a tyrant in the kingdom where I lived, but our forces got overpowered and they sent bounty hunters to get rid of us. Some of us died but we were saved by the Draconic Sage.” A large buff man next to the Sage spoke up first.

“I witnessed a murder and now the murderer is after me.” said a woman in the left of the room, from what Ethan could see they were some sort of elf.

Almost everyone in the room was in this place because of special circumstances which made him feel some comfort and relaxed a bit. As they kept talking they offered him some of the food they had. They had some food he had never even heard or seen. There was something that looked like a banana but it was red and had some swirls on it.

Ethan stuffed himself like he would if it was a holiday back in his hometown and drank like there was no tomorrow. A few hours later, it was late a night and everyone but the Sage was up cleaning some of the mess. While he did that Ethan started to slowly wake.

“Oh it seems you are the first one up, you gave us a scare there. After you ate and drank a bunch you passed out. Seems your body still needs time to recover drarararara. Why don’t I show you to the guest room after I put these bottles away? We can’t have you sleeping in the infirmary”

“I am very grateful what you guys have done for me and I don’t know if what I’m going to ask going to be a problem or any thing but do you kno-”
