Chapter 43

"Actually both of our staffs are modified," Seras added, looking at Arnos. "The only one who used an unmodified staff here is this creature," Seras said with a small giggle, as she pointed at Alisa.

Alisa nodded. "Yeah, this creature," Alisa repeated in a sarcastic tone glaring at Seras.

"Mine might not look as good as Seras, but that's because I have spells to use for offense," Erik added with a sigh.

"Everyone has spells for offense, idiot," Seras added, looking at Marcus with a cheeky smirk, trying to agitate him.

"Coming to the main topic," Alisa said, clapping her hands to get everyone's attention. "You wouldn't be given a chance to get your staff modified before the battle tournament, though," she added as she looked at Arnos and Marcus.

"Is that so" Marcus added with slight dissapointment. "Well it's not like we can do anything about it, should we get going to the main building then?" he questioned in the next moment.

"I don't see why not, Get going." Alisa said as she pulled back the chair next to the table and took a seat on it.

Arnos and Marcus gave a small bow and moved out of the library, while Erik and Seras took a seat next to Alisa at the table.

"Did you seriously think I didn't notice the smoke?" Alisa added with a chuckle in a whisper, trying not to let Arnos hear.

"She caught me, ahhh," Arnos mumbled in a defeated voice as he walked with Marcus.

"Your act sure was something, though," Marcus said with a chuckle. "You know what, Arnos?" Marcus added, grabbing Arnos's attention.

"What?" Arnos asked curiously, stopping in front of the seating area.

"If you wait for everyone to go together, it might take some time. I'll go and wake Emily up," Marcus said, pointing towards the corridor with their room with his thumb. "You should go ahead without us," he suggested.

"Understood," Arnos said with a small nod. With that, Arnos moved towards the eastern exit of the dorms building. The door was opened, so he simply walked out.

"It worked out for the better, didn't it?" Arnos mumbled, thinking about how going with Marcus and the princess would for sure get unwanted attention on him.

Arnos moved outside the dorm's premise. And begun to walk towards Celera, the walk to Celera took him about ten minute. Arnos noticed how several students were standing outside in Celera's ground, in front of the eastern entrance.

"Has the fitting not started yet?" he wondered as he walked inside the door to Celera's premises.

"I should go somewhere with less crowd," Arnos mumbled, looking at the crowd. It was similar to the previous day; people who knew each other from before were standing together, while those who didn't stood like statues staring the air in the corner.

Letting out a sigh, Arnos took a spot in the shade of the building, leaning on the black-grey wall of Celera's side boundary.

The staff Seras used today was really something, Arnos thought, remembering Seras's weapon.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

"Would a pseudo sword suit me?" he wondered out loud.

Looking at the building, Arnos was lost in thought.

I think a short sword would be better for me, he thought. Can we modify the wands too? he questioned himself.

This ended in him smiling at his own question, as he remembered how wands aren't modified my mages.

"What might you be laughing at?"

Arnos turned his head to the right, noticing Mabel standing there with a curious look.

"Nothing special, truthfully," Arnos admitted, giving an embarrassed smile to Mabel.

"How was your first day at Cryz dorm though?" Arnos questioned Mabel. As he asked this, he again began to stare at Celera's building.

Mabel leaned on the wall herself, looking in front.

"It was certainly not bad, I would say," she added. "The seniors only asked us not to address them by name and use honorifics like 'sir' or 'ma'am' instead. And we were assigned rooms, two people are allotted a room."

"I see," Arnos said as he glanced at Mabel.

"What about you, though? Did something interesting happen?" Mabel questioned, her voice filled with curiosity.

"Yeah, I met all... wait, not all. I haven't met Mr. Braun yet, have I? Arnos wondered.

"Actually, I met Alisa, Erik, and Seras. You already know Seras, don't you?" Arnos questioned.

"Yup," Mabel replied.

"They were all really good to us. I also dueled…" Arnos stopped midway, "was beaten by Seras today and learned a new spell," he said with enthusiasm.

"Beaten by Seras? Well, I could surely see that—the way she hugged or choked you yesterday," Mabel added, trying to suppress her laugh. "About the new spell, what was that?" Mabel questioned.

"Fireball."

"Ah… good for you, I guess," Mabel added with a clearly unimpressed face.

Arnos looked at Mabel's unimpressed face. "It's quite basic, isn't it?"

"It is, but I thought you knew it already. Didn't you tell me you knew a few basic spells?" Mabel questioned.

Arnos remembered the conversation from yesterday, remembering how he had indeed said those words.

"I actually never got to learn Fireball from someone. I know a few other basic spells, though," he lied.

Telling her I know Lance but not Fireball would be embarrassing, he thought to himself.

"Is that so?" Mabel said as she looked at Arnos.

"Mabel!" someone shouted from the ground. This caused both Arnos and Mabel to look in that direction.

Arnos noticed a girl with a slim build standing no farther than ten steps from them. He noticed her black hair that fell just below her neck and deep black eyes. He also noticed how she didn't have any emblem on her outfit.

"That's Noelle, my roommate," Mabel said, leaning forward. She looked at Arnos. "Guess I will get going then," she added.

Arnos nodded at this. "Sure," he added with a smile.

He noticed how the crowd was decreasing on the ground. Guess I should go inside too, Arnos thought to himself.

He walked towards the ground, noticing the students moving in and out from the east entrance.

"Well, it's not like I have to wait for someone," Arnos mumbled to himself in a whisper as he walked towards the ground and moved towards the east entrance of the building. Walking inside Celera's main building, Arnos gave a quick glance at the main hall interior, remembering the previous day's events.

Move aside if all you're gonna do is gawk… yeah, it was something like that, Arnos thought. A small amused smile came to his face as he remembered the words spoken to him by Emily.

Arnos walked further inside the building. The hall further opened into two gates—one to the left corner and one on the right.

Looks like it's the right way, Arnos thought as he noticed a small crowd of boys walking from the left doorway while the girls were moving from the right gate. Arnos began to follow the group of boys, walking a few steps behind. He noticed how they entered the same auditorium hall from the previous day.

Walking inside, Arnos saw a teacher sitting on a chair while the boys stood in line in front of her.

Isn't she Miss Chloe from yesterday? Arnos wondered, looking at the instructor sitting in front of him. She was wearing a blue elegant dress and noting down something in the register next to her.

Class B instructor, if I am not wrong, Arnos added in his mind as he walked and took his place at the end of the line, observing the instructor.

Her hairstyle sure is peculiar, Arnos thought, looking carefully at her long yellow beautifully braided hair with small amount of hair from the front was styled in a left part.

Isn't she quite young to be a teacher, though?" Arnos thought. She must be exceptional to be given such a role in Celera… or maybe she is old but doesn't look the age, Arnos thought giving a nod.
