Chapter 35 Payment

With that Erik politely bowed and moved outside the guildmaster's room, closing the door as he stepped out. He turned towards the stairs, descending them at a slow pace, his thoughts running wild as he walked.

70,000 ryon, huh? That's certainly a good amount, and with the night wolves I killed, that should make my total more than 100,000, Erik thought to himself.

Reaching the ground floor, Erik glanced at the receptionist counter where Alya was sitting in her respective seat.

Erik walked towards her post, standing in front of her within a moment.

Alya was writing something on a paper. Alya brushed off the strands of her white coloured hair that had fallen across her face as she looked at Erik with her blue eyes.

"Hmm, the overall weight of the nightwolves you brought was something around 800 pounds. That should be about 400 pounds of meat," Alya blurted out.

Erik simply nodded, listening attentively.

"Market price for it is 500 ryon per pound, so it is 200,000 ryon for 400 pounds, and your cut would be 80,000 ryon, with 40,000 ryon more for the crystals," Alya said, letting out a sigh of relief from all that talking. She looked up at Erik.

"Guess you managed to earn more than your normal income," she said in a calm tone, with a small smile.

"Yeah seems that way," Erik replied with a small chuckle. "I honestly didn't think I would. I had no idea night wolf meat was this costly," Erik exclaimed in a surprised tone.

"It is. They are actually quite rare, as you might already know. Their flesh is quite popular among high-earning individuals for showing their status," Alya added in a knowledgeable tone.

"I had no idea," Erik said with a surprised tone. Erik took out the money the guildmaster gave him and passed 30,000 ryon to Alya.

"The guildmaster said that you need to pass this to Amelie or her party and ask them to visit him when they come tomorrow," Erik added, looking at her.

"Understood," Alya mumbled, taking the money from Erik's hand. She passed along Erik's payment, which was enveloped in a brown packet.

"Can I ask something, Erik?" she said, with slight concern on her face.

Erik looked at Alya, taking in her facial expression. Did I do something to worry her? he thought.

"You could," Erik replied.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

"Did something bad happen today?" Alya asked in a concerned tone.

Is that what's troubling her? Should I lie? Erik questioned himself considering his options.

"Yes, but I can't tell," Erik said in a hesitant tone. "I have my reasons," he added with a slightly apologetic tone.

"No, it's not that big of a deal," Alya said as her blue eyes widened as she looked at Erik. She waved both of her hands in a dismissive motion.

"You don't need to be sorry about it, she said. So will you be going back to your dorm, or would you eat here and then leave?" Alya asked trying to change the topic.

"I suppose I'll be going back. I mean, you do know about the probability of us getting newbies today, don't you? Chances are less, but not zero."

Erik gave a sheepish smile looking at her. "I mean, I gotta introduce myself to my newbies, you know."

Alya nodded at this. "Yes, yes, that's right. You need to live your life like a student more, away from responsibilities."

"I do, huh? Well, have a great day… ah night actually to be precise," Erik said as he waved his hand and turned back, moving to the exit.

Erik moved out of the adventurer guild, standing on the bustling street of Duxelle. I am seriously hungry, Erik thought to himself, mentally tired. He began walking back toward the city's exit.

With roughly 15 minutes of walking, Erik reached the city's exit. Erik glanced at Albert, who was still maintaining his post.

His job sure is tough, Erik thought to himself as he walked past the post and exited Duxelle. Erik walked for a few minutes more, moving 200m or so away from the city's gate.

Do I have a few bursts of Quick-Step spells in me? Erik questioned himself. Erik was tired from the day's events and didn't want to waste more time walking if possible.

Erik stretched his neck, bending it backwards, looking at the moon and dark sky. He turned his head down, looking at the path straight ahead, covered with trees on either side.

Let's do it, he thought to himself, looking at his feet.

"Quick Step," Erik said as the aura of light magic enveloped him. In a quick movement, Erik managed to traverse half of the distance to Celera. He repeated the spell, stopping just a few meters away from Celera's magic school.

Erik walked towards Celera's premises, heading towards the guard sitting outside next to the main door of Celera's entrance.

"Can I get inside?" Erik asked, looking at the guard. The guard was a man in his mid-40s, wearing a black-coloured uniform.

"Do you see what time it is?" the guard replied in a frustrated tone.

"I have the headmaster's permission," Erik replied in a polite tone.

"Headmaster's permission huh? Do you think you're somebody special?" the guard spoke in an angry tone.

"I'm not anybody special. Could you just open the gate, or should I enter another way?" Erik replied, his tone changing from calm and polite to stern as he glared at the guard.

The main door opened, and Erik entered the premise of Celera, the vast premise of Celera that spanned across 1,000 acres.

He was trying to pick on me, Erik thought to himself as he took a quick look at the guard. Returning his focus back to the main thing, Erik turned his head to the left, looking at the building of Ares dorm.

"Quick Step," Erik mumbled as he quickly travelled the distance between Ares's dorm and Celera's main gate in an instant.

Without thinking much, he walked towards the main gate to the premises of Ares dorm. It wasn't closed, so he opened the gate and locked it as he moved inside.

Erik walked on the centre pavement that stretched between the gardens on either side, extending from the main gate of the dorm's premises to the east entrance of the C-shaped Ares dorm building.

This pavement was made with pale yellow bricks it was large and circular in the centre of the garden with the fountain. Erik glanced at the fountain, illuminating brightly.
