Chapter Two

It has been a week since Sakura had awakened into the strange situation. Her appearance had shock her and she had come to the conclusion that she had stolen someone’s body. It was difficult for her to admit that she had died. When she had accepted her death, guilt consumed her. What happened to the original host of the body that she now resides in? She felt that it was her fault that the original owner had disappeared. If she has not come and steal the body, the original owner may have still be alive and well.

“Sakura, it’s going to be okay.” She convinced herself.

Her mother made her take a week off from school due to her amnesia. This one week had enables her to adapt to her surroundings and get a better understanding of the owner’s life. Right this moment, Sakura was standing outside her classroom alongside the professor who she saw after her reincarnation. The man opens the classroom door and enter the room. She timidly follows after him.

Sakura was in her third year of high school before her death. However, the owner of her body was still only a first year. It was barely the beginning of the school year so there is still a long way to go until her graduation. She was stuck living as a freshman again. Just thinking about living as a freshman again gives her a headache. The first two years of high school was usually dramatic and stressful, making her quite worried.

“Sakura had a small accident recently. She has amnesia and can’t remember much. I hope the rest of you will not make it hard on her and will be helpful instead.” Professor Itsuki explained.

It was awkward for Sakura and she did not dare look up. She kept her eyes on the floor that had suddenly become very interesting.

“Sakura.” Itsuki called.

She was agitated and asked nervously, “Yes?”

“Your seat is on the last row behind Sora. Sora, raise your hand.” Itsuki instructed.

Sakura timidly look up and saw a raise hand. She glances at the raise hand before lowering her eyes to see who Sora was. The sight took her breath away. A male with snow white hair and eyes the color of the sea was raising his arm. His hair was a mess, but it adds a unique look to his stern expression. His face had the freshness of youth and was strangely attractive. The young male currently had an irritated expression on, probably due to Sakura’s long stare.

“Are you coming over or not? My arm is tire!” He snapped.

She stops gawking and blushes when she realizes what she did. She mentally slaps herself before walking quickly to the seat behind Sora. The boy drops down his arm when she sat down on her chair. Professor Itsuki summarize what the class did the day before he starts on his lesson. Listening to his lecture was quite confusing for Sakura. It was difficult to take in the information Professor Itsuki was lecturing on. After all, she did not even know the basics.  She could not understand what he was talking about, especially since he was going on and on about some type of beasts. Now she regrets wasting her first week resting at her new home. It was a relief that the people in this world use the same language as her. This made her able to at least understand what he was saying.

Professor Itsuki shows the class some odd-looking creatures, all whom Sakura had never seen before. She knew the world she was living in was not Earth. But what she doesn’t get is why the class is learning an elementary lesson about animals. Although it was hard for Sakura, she continues to listen and jot down the information down. She was not a smart person nor was she the type to study. However, she realizes what kind of situation she was in. The more she knows about her whereabouts, the better.

“Now open your textbook to page one hundred and seventy-two.” He instructed.

Textbook?

Sakura reaches into her desk and took out three textbooks. She places them on her desk and examine the covers. One of them had a cover full of exotic plants and was titled, “The Knowledge of Herbs and Medicine”. She puts it aside and study the second book. It had three beasts on the cover, a black tiger-looking animal, a mix animal between a hippo and a bull, and a large white snake with three heads. The title was “Beasts from the Puran Era to the Golden Age.”

Just as she was about to pick up the last book, Itsuki asked, “Sakura, could you please read the next paragraph?”

“Y-Yes!” She replied.

But right after her answer, she realizes that she has not been paying attention to the class. She was too absorbed with the book cover that she did not even know which book the class was reading. The last thing she heard was to get the textbook and open it.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

With a face full of embarrassment, she confessed, “I’m…uh…sorry. I wasn’t paying attention.”

Professor Itsuki was dumbfounded for a moment before he sighed, “Now listen Sakura, I know that you are sick but you must pay attention to class. I will let it go this time but there won’t be a next.”

“Yes, I’m sorry.” She apologized.

She sighed and sat back down on her chair.

Why am I so stupid!

She lightly knocks her head on her table as punishment. While doing so, she senses someone gaze on her. This made her head shot back up to check, only to notice that there were no eyes on her.

Did I imagine it?

“Please read the next line Emiko.” Itsuki picked.

“Ah! I have to concentrate in case I get in trouble again.” Sakura thought to herself.

She looks to her neighbor to see which textbook the class was reading. It turns out to be the third textbook that she was currently holding in her hand. Not bothering to see the title, she flips through the pages until she reaches the right one.

“Because the celestial maiden had disappeared, the four guardians had to seal the devil themselves.”

When she heard the reader read the first line, Sakura was taken aback by the soothing sweet voice of the reader.

How can a girl voice be so soft and feminine?

She curiously looks up to scrutinize the reader named “Emiko.” Emiko was a girl with short black hair that reaches her shoulder. She couldn’t see Emiko’s face because Emiko’s back was facing her. However, the girl had a short and slim figure that made one feels overprotective. Her soothing voice and delicate figure creates a fine appearance.

Is every person in this school good-looking?

Sakura turns to examine her fellow classmates, only to throw this thought away. Not everyone in her class was a drop-dead gorgeous person. There were many good looking students, but average-looking ones also exist. It was a relief because she considered herself to be average. She had forgotten that her current appearance can also be considered “attractive.”

“Next, Ben.” The professor continued.

That was the moment when Sakura remember that she should be paying attention to her textbook. She cursed once more at her stupidity and scan through the passage. Her eyes lands on the right one and she begins to read to herself the first line.

“The wolves from the ice clan is one of the four guardian of the celestial maiden. The clan had weakened after sealing the devil. There was no news or sounds from them and this belief led others to believe that they were extinct. Many thought they disappeared because the devil had exterminated them. However, the truth was that they were hunted down by other demons because of their unique ice ability. This led to chaos. It cannot be forgotten that the wolves from the ice clan were also once the celestial maiden’s guardian.”

Sakura eyes sparkles at this folk-like tale. She had always find fantasy and myths interesting. Although she was enjoying the introduction so far, she cannot understand why the class was reading a fiction book. She thought that the class should be more serious and the professor should be teaching something like Math. But here he is, letting them read an interesting story of an extinct wolf tribe.

“Is there even such a thing as a wolf of the ice clan? What do they even do?” She muttered to herself.

Just as she finish saying her sentence, she felt the surrounding temperature drops by many degrees. The sudden cold made her shuddered. Even her breath could be seen!

Why is it so cold all of a sudden? Is there a ghost in the room?

The thought of a ghost made her tremble. It was not only her; the other students were also trembling. All of them felt them cold except for the male in front of her.

Why is he not trembling? Oh god, it’s cold!

A thought suddenly came to her mind and she giggled, “perhaps there is a ghost of an extinct wolf from the ice clan in this room? Maybe he did not like the class reading about him.”

It was a funny joke to herself. Who is she kidding? A fiction wolf with ice power is not possible. Why would a main character from a story suddenly appear? Just as she was thinking this to herself, she heard a loud BAM, making her jump in surprise.

The male in front of her spun his body so quick that she could not even react in time. He abruptly grabs her collar and pulls her toward his handsome face. It was sudden and she froze when he glares at her with his beautiful eyes.

Sora growled, “Would you shut up?”

The temperature around her seem to drop down even lower.

She could not understand why this male was giving her a threatening glare. Did she do something to him? She did not remember offending this male before. Come on! Today was her first day of school and she had just met this male for the first time! Perhaps the original Sakura did something to anger him? All she had done the whole morning was sit in her desk while talking to herself. Was she too loud for him?

She gulped and asked, “Why?”

He snapped when he saw her confuse expression.

“Don’t pretend to be stupid!” He shouted.

His actions had disrupted the class’ learning and now everyone was staring at them in curiosity. Professor Itsuki gives a questioning look before saying, “Calm down Sora. I know that this topic is a sensitive matter for you but you should not be taking it out on another student.”

Sora’s eyebrows furrowed and his frown deepened.  Without another word, he let go of Sakura’s shirt but push her back against her chair. He did not bother saying another word and abruptly stood up to leave the room. He ignores the professor and slam the door behind him. The class was shrouded in complete silence at his sudden disappearance.

When he was gone, the girl sitting next to Sakura elbowed her. When Sakura gives her a questioning glance, the girl whispered to her, “Sakura, next time you should not say things carelessly. Or did you really forget? Sora belongs to the wolves of the ice clan. When you were giggling and mumbling to yourself, I heard it. I bet he also heard it and probably felt offended.”

What?

Sakura was hit with a sudden realization.

You mean the wolves of the ice clan was real? And that male named Sora belongs to it?

If reincarnation was real, of course wolves that are human can also be possible! Of course there are wolves that can use ice magic! She just didn’t think…she sighed…

How could this be possible?
