Book 1 - Second Chance

Chapter 2 – New Life

‘Albi’ Albi heard a voice within his head calling to him.

‘Albi’

‘Albi! Wake up!’

‘Hmm? Who’s there?’ Responded Albi with his thoughts as he started to sit up.

Albi suddenly found himself standing in a giant pond, in a dark place.

Just as he was looking around the place

“Are you okay?” A voice called to him.

Albi suddenly looked around to try to find the source of the sound, only to be met by a woman standing in front of him.

“W-Who are you? What is this place? Wait a minute, why are you naked? Why am I naked? Why are we in a pond?” Said Albi as he backed off scared of this whole ordeal.

“I-I don’t know” replied the voice distressed.

“You don’t know?” Responded Albi, a bit taken aback at the response.

“I just woke up not too long ago, I was lying on the pond just as you were, I tried looking around trying to make sense of this, until I saw you”

The voice seemed to be distressed, so it shouldn’t be lying to me.

“Okay, okay, let’s calm down. Let’s start with this, what’s your name? My name is-” Just as Albi was about to say his name, he suddenly remembered something. She had already called him by his name.

“How did you know my name?” Said Albi as he was standing up, and backing away, putting his guard up. He clearly didn’t trust this woman’s words.

“I- I don’t know. I think, I think my name is also Albi”

???

“What do you mean your name is also Albi? Even if it was, how did you know it was also mine?”

“I think….I think I’m you”

She’s me? What does she mean by th-

Just as Albi was thinking of the response, a splitting headache attacked him leaving his vision blurry, he started wobbling, and fell to the ground. As he looked in front, he noticed that the woman also had the same splitting headache, clutching her head as she fell onto her knees.

Waves of information, memories, and feelings flooded both of their minds simultaneously. After a brief period of time Albi looked up at the girl.

“You…you really are me”

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“You were the voice that popped into my head after that happened” said Albi astonished.

“I-I guess I am. I must’ve been ‘split’ from you after we die-” the woman suddenly stopped, remembering it was her words that spurred Albi into action that night, and that she was the cause of his death.

Noticing the look of pain on the woman’s face Albi realized what she was thinking.

She must’ve remembered what happened in that alley, and is blaming herself…

Albi stood up, walked towards the woman, and hugged her.

“Thank you. I don’t know how you became the way you are. I don’t know if you’re really real, and I don’t know if we’re alive or dead, but I just wanted to say. Thank you. You’re the reason why I was able to get through it all.”

Stunned by his sudden actions, and words, the woman stood there, unsure of what to do. After a brief pause, she hugged him back, and they started to reminisce on the things that happened to them before, crying, thanking, and apologizing to each other for everything that they went through.

“Okay, okay, let’s stop with all the crying now. So, what should I call you?” said Albi laughing.

“What do you mean?”

“We can’t be both called Albi, can we? That’d be just weird, me calling you Albi, you calling me Albi. Besides, Albi is a boy’s name, doesn’t that feel weird for you?”.

“I guess? I never thought about having a name before”.

“Hmmm, let me think of a name for you… How about Ibla? It’s Albi in reverse!” said Albi smugly rather proud of himself, and his ingenious naming sense.

“…”

“I forgot you had a horrible naming sense…” responded ‘Ibla’ unamused.

“Okay, then how about you come up with something better then?” Said Albi slightly embarrassed.

“H-How about Bailey?” said the woman.

“Hmmm, Bailey, that’s a cool name!”

“My amazing naming skills must’ve rubbed off on you, haha” responded Albi.

“…” Bailey looked at him, and started laughing.

“Honestly, where do you get the sense to laugh in this situation? We don’t even know what, or where we are”

“Hmmm, you’re right. What do you th-“ Just before Albi could finish his sentence, another splitting headache assaulting both of them, and they collapsed.

Back in the shallow crater, the body started to move, and with a groan it stood up.

“Ugh, I swear I’ve had enough headaches for a fucking lifetime already…”

“Where am I now?”

‘Can you hear me Albi?’

‘Bailey? Where are you?’

‘I’m in your mind, and I can see ‘you’ still here in front of me.’

‘Huh, so I guess you’re in some sort of command center room in my brain or something’

‘Uhhh, I guess you could say that’.

As Albi was talking to Bailey, he started to climb over the crater he was in, only to be shocked by what he saw.

Albi was standing over a green hill, as he looked around it was as green as the eye can see. Beautiful grass, filled with trees, flowers, and critters filled his vision. As he turned around to look over the other side, it was a large contrast to the previous sight. A blue shining ocean was all that met his gaze, birds flying in the horizon.

‘I-is this heaven?’ He knew what he said sounded like a cliché, but his thoughts of heaven being a green paradise, a flawless gem of natural beauty representing perfection still compelled him to speak those words.

‘If it is, then it’s not really my style’

‘Yea, you’re right. I hate natu-“

Just as Albi was looking around, he noticed giant shadows overcast, and as he looked up.

“W-What the fuck?” Said Albi as he tumbled to his back from the shock.

Three giant planets circulated over the planet Albi was currently in, they each looked like they were hundreds of times bigger than the moon back on Earth, or at least they were so close it felt like it.

‘Bailey…I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…’

‘…’

‘Is that the first thing that popped into your head?!’ answered Bailey.

‘What do you want me to say, we’re naked, standing in a giant ass green field, a big ass ocean on the horizon, and three fucking giant planets are over us. What else can I say other than that?’ rebutted Albi.

Just as they were staring wide eyed on the alien view in front, a shout came from the horizon.

“Ou Ta! Ura inne ta dane al tehr? Uu oha inne hade!?”

Hey you! What are you doing over there? And why are you naked!?

Asked a man in leather armor as he was being accompanied by a dozen or so other soldiers in a foreign language as he approached Albi, and Bailey.
