Book 1 - Second Chance
Chapter 1 – Mysterious Light
‘L-Light?’
Albi suddenly noticed something that broke him out of his trance. A light in the distance. After breaking from that trance Albi tried to observe himself, and his surroundings only to realize that it was nothingness. He had no body, no eyes, no brain, no flesh, there was nothing around him. He didn’t feel light or heavy, cold or hot, good or bad. His surroundings weren’t dark, they were the definition of darkness. An unending void devoid of any form of recognizability. He couldn’t tell close from far; he couldn’t even comprehend how to apply his concept of dimensions to this place. The only outlier being that light in the distance. Just as he was observing that light, he started to notice something.
‘The light was getting bigger? No, I’m moving closer towards it!’
As he started to get closer to the light, he started to feel his body, or whatever it is that he was at the moment being dragged closer to it. He started to feel the acceleration. He didn’t know how much time passed as he got closer to the light, as the longer he stared, the more he was being hypnotized by it. Before he realized it, he couldn’t think of anything other than the light. Like a moth drawn to a flame, he let go of all other thoughts except those of getting closer to the light. As he neared it however, he started to feel something.
‘Pain? This is barely anything, but it does indeed feel like pain’
His thoughts were unfortunately correct as that slight lingering aching pain throughout his consciousness started to increase bit by bit. The more pain he felt, the bigger the light became.
Suddenly the light expanded thousands of times over engulfing everything around him, he started to feel a pain akin to a headache. His consciousness was throbbing, and his vision grew muddled.
‘Ah fuck! That hurts!’
The pain continued as the light started to grow so bright that it felt like it was blinding him, but he couldn’t avert his gaze. After a while the light started to dim, and die down. After a few moments the cycle would start anew.
Although the pain was great, unfortunately Albi was accustomed to it.
‘This is nothing compared to what they put me through’ he thought.
This continued for a few cycles until he started to acclimate to the pain. He no longer felt muddled, and he could stay conscious throughout the process of a cycle, and after a while that pain was starting to feel like a dull aching. Like a toddler was hitting him. Nothing but a nuisance.
He looked at the orb of light in between one of the cycles, and noticed it was much darker than before. The previous bright shining luster was now a greyish hue. Like it was a light bult that was running out of its energy. He looked at the center, and noticed a black circle that started to expand. It was like the orb was being ripped open, or rather. It was ripping something open.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
He suddenly felt a pull from that hole, and an equivalent push from the orb.
As Albi was halfway through however, the orb flickered, and suddenly flickered out!
Albi was now only being pulled by the hole, and no longer pushed in. This caused one side of him to experience much greater acceleration in the hole, while the other was unmoving.
He was being ripped in half by this hole!
‘Aaaaaaaaagh!’
Pain. Unimaginable pain coursed through his entire being. Every type of pain he has ever felt in his life, and more. It felt like his soul was being ripped apart from him. That was the only thing that Albi could think of, as no physical pain would possibly be this high.
Not mere moments afterwards however, he started to lose consciousness. He could no longer think, he was numb through, and through, yet he still felt that pain.
Whenever Albi went through stuff in his past, he would just shut off, and dissociate. Making him only feel thuds, and throbbing aches. That’s what he’s been doing when the cycle of the orb started, but he couldn’t do that with this. His soul. His essence. His being itself was being ripped apart.
‘Why?’
‘What did I ever do to deserve this?’
‘Was I murderer in my past life? Did I torture people? Was I a bad person, and this is my hell?’
‘Why? Why!?’ Why!?!’
‘I never did anything wrong. It’s not my fault THEY are miserable’
‘It’s not my fault they’re failures that came home, and emptied their anger on me’
‘It’s not my fault he died of an overdose. I was six! How was I supposed to help him? I was never allowed outside of my room, nor was I allowed to use the phone!’
‘It’s not my fault she had to sell her body, and get beat up!’
‘It’s not my fault she died! I was defending myself!’
‘No, it wasn’t just self-defense. I wanted to do it! After all she did to me, she deserved it!’
‘I killed her, and I would do it again a thousand times if I have to! Even if this is hell for doing that, I’d do it again, and I’d go through this again, only if it means she too is going through it!’.
Albi felt his soul tearing, and splitting in half. It felt immensely painful, but more so it felt…disgusting. It felt wrong, like he was turning into something he wasn’t, like he was losing a part of himself, it felt worse than when he died. At least he died whole, but now he thought he’d die missing something of himself.
‘Aaaagh! No! I will not allow that! You can kill me, but you will NOT take a part of me’.
‘Time and time again, everything has been taken from me. No more!’
‘You will take me whole, or you will kill me whole! Never broken!’
Albi tried his best to maintain the part of his soul that’s being ripped, and through sheer will managed to drag it with him, and they ventured into the hole.
…
In a giant green field, an elderly farmer was toiling the fields.
“Aah, my back hurts. I wonder if Shin passed the academy entry test…” Said the farmer as he leaned back, stretching his body.
Towards the distance, a hole was ripping open from the sky, and many orbs of light started to flow out from it.
The many observers started to look at this marvelous scene.
“Mom, what’s that?” said a youth pointing at the scene in the skies.
“It must be the Supremes’ handiwork, come on let’s not disturb them.”
“Aah, I wish I had the resources to apply to becoming a supreme”
“Dream on, even if we gathered the entire village’s fortune, we wouldn’t be able to send one of us to become a Supreme, the only exception is that old farmer Li, and his family heirloom”
Over the hill, the balls of light started to spew forth from the hole moving at high speeds in all directions. One of those orbs looked much dimmer, and smaller than the rest, and was pulsating weakly. It traveled only a short distance beyond the hills until it died down, and fell to the ground.
With a giant thud, that dim ball fell on the ground, creating a small crater.
In that crater, the ball starting to pulsate lightly until it completely vanished leaving behind an androgynous looking human body.
