SCORCHING BLACK VULTURE
1 - 1: Beginning To The End

1 - 1: Beginning To The End

The gift of death, like the flapping wings of a blackened vulture, blesses the punishment of life in this accursed world.

Here I stand, ready to plunge myself into the top layer, where no such soul could evade the flames of hell, not even the innocent one. My mind is pondering whether the will of dying God is still hearing us until...

"TSUYUKI!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP! THE VILLAGE CAN'T TAKE THIS ANY LONGER!!!"

My mind suddenly went back into reality as the sudden shout deafened my ear like a sonic boom. I was standing at the osprey's side door as I waited for myself to drop to the ground at the pinpoint arrival of the rope. The cool night breeze and the sound of the thunderous rain splashing on my face immerse me as I gaze at the tropical forest below.

I couldn't resist responding as I pressed the headset button.

"I have arrived; don't you worry!"

Yet Clarissa, my healer companion, reprimanded me in a worried tone as I could hear her gunshots from the communications channel and the distant roar, signaling imminent danger.

"PLEASE, MAKE IT QUICK, LEADER! YOU DON'T WANNA…"

"WATCH OUT!!!"

And the communications channel ended in a throaty roar after Clarissa seemed to be saving someone from the wreak havoc creature.

The osprey finally stopped in mid-air, around 145 feet. With that, I went over the scorch arc's box, scanned it with my right hand, and it revealed my weird-looking sword with a 2-stroke engine and a heavy handgun.

After I equipped my scorch arcs, I activated my left hand's cyborg gauntlet, which looked like a wolverine claw, grappled it in the nearby clipper, and gave the pilot a goodbye salute as I slowly descended into the ground with my grappling gauntlet, which emanated a loud zipping noise.

Seconds have passed since my boots touched the moist soil. I retracted my grappling hook's rope from the osprey and listened to the loud zipping noise as it finally snapped into my left hand with a slight kick.

The stormy rain on this cold night may have hindered my progress because of how distracting it was, but I just kept looking forward to the blackened forest's part as I spoke to myself.

"Alright, it's scorching time!"

I slowly equipped my EarPods, turned up a tune, and dashed onward as I felt the hard music kicking my morale to the top.

Insert Music: Kyrolis - Acceleration Of Kill

0132 hours, 13 June 0145...

During my dash, I felt my feet sloshed against the moist soil as it also splashed into my tactical jeans and my blue hoodie.

This time, me, Luke, and Clarissa had a mission to hunt down Palkeros, where Minerva reported it to be continuously terrorizing several villages in Harimal Forest of Monaka Island in every night rainstorm. The monster revealed a 45% infection rate, necessitating our cautious approach to eliminating it without direct contact.

But it's such a shame that I came late to the party as I was overslept and had to wait for another minute until an osprey came back to the hangar to pick me up.

I suddenly sensed a looming threat: a pack of Ragoos, approaching rapidly from the northeast, sending a shiver down my spine.

Three raptor-looking monsters called Ragoos suddenly dashed while roaring in intimidation and suddenly jumped over my head with their mouths wide open to devour their prey.

But all I could do was smirk, dash forward at lightning speed, grab my revving sword, and suddenly...

JSLOSH

I slashed all three Ragoos in no time into gores, and they splayed on the moist soil. But as I was about to advance to my friends, eight more Ragoos surrounded me in the front and back!

As one was about to jump with their mouth wide open, I then jumped backward, stepping upon the herds on my back, drew my heavy pistol, pointed it at the Ragoos's mouth, pulled the trigger long enough until it emanated a blue pulsating wave, and suddenly...

BANG

My charge-shot bullet pierced four Ragoos in the same line until their bodies splayed into tiny gore's fragments. With a graceful landing, I swiftly drew my sword, seamlessly transitioning into a series of fluid movements and continuing the massacre with a stylish flip.

Blood splattered upon the wet soil and my clothes, but I will not stop until none of them are breathing anymore!

After destroying the last Ragoos' head with my heavy pistol, I advanced once more towards my friends.

But as I dashed, Luke, my tanker companion, suddenly called me again in a panicked tone.

"WHAT THE HELL?! IT'S RUNNING AWAY IN YOUR DIRECTION! WATCH OUT FOR THE CONTACT, MAN!"

I wanted to respond to his call for further confirmation, but suddenly...

SWOSH

I narrowly avoided death by performing a stylish front flip in a matter of seconds, just as I saw someone slam a blade into my body with lightning speed.

After I had landed on the ground in a superhero landing stance, I glanced on my front and witnessed a weird-looking tall yellow combat android who was holding a sword on his right hand and a pistol on his left hand.

He then turned his body and glared with his threatening light blue eyes, pointing his sword into my sight while speaking in a throaty, robotic voice.

"Authonoids! You… must… die!"

But all I could do was chuckle once, and I responded with a sardonic smirk.

"In your dream!"

I then charged forward at lightning speed with my revving sword and swung it over his head. But he then parried my blade with his sword and pistol and kicked my chest harshly until I had pushed backward.

He then charged forward at lightning speed, as I am, and swung his sword over my head. But I then evaded his blow by doing a quick evasion to the left and slashed his steely body until the wound splattered blood and oils.

"Not... today!"

He then dashed forward while sending rounds from his pistol.

But I quickly evaded it left and right, while also parrying his bullet by swinging my revving sword and parrying his rounds with my heavy pistol's rounds.

As I approached his body and he was about to deliver a fatal blow to my face, something unexpected happened.

JSLOSH

I brutally slashed his body as I revved my blade into the rev's limit and witnessed the blood and oils splattered into the moist soil and my chest.

"Stop!"

The yellow combat android begged when he was about to make another desperate move. But it is too late for him.

JSHICK

I brutally stabbed his chest, witnessed the blood and oil flood the moist soil from his wounded chest, and revved it as it emanated a deafening 2-stroke with its exhaust flaming like a dragon's breath.

BRAAP BRAAP BRAAP

The yellow combat android was helpless in my massacre, as I gave him a death stare with my diamond blue eyes. And to top it all...

JSLOSH

I brutally beheaded his head and obliterated his body into fragments, where the gore was splaying on the moist soil of my massacre.

But I cannot just witness the sorry corpse of this stray combat android. As I make my way towards my companion before the monster, we must hunt it down before it devours the village and its victims!

***

When I got to the village's outer edge, I stood on a hill and watched the frantic scene of the villagers' cries for assistance during their evacuation, with Clarissa's assistance, and the clashing of weapons as the guardians fought the monster alongside Luke.

Palkeros' potent poison filled the air, quickly overwhelming their defenses. Although the guardian villagers did their best to prevent further losses with their firepower, they had no way to protect themselves against that raging, infected monster.

As I was about to descend, Luke suddenly shouted at me through my communications channel.

"BLUE ORCA LEADER!!! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!"

But I kept my mouth shut with a smirk, jumped from the hill, and slid my boots upon the steep descents to the half-ruined village. As I am getting close to the village, I then grapple myself onto the nearby ruined hut's roof and hop onto another roof.

Step by step, I've finally reached the abyss where Luke and Clarissa were fighting off the rampaging Palkeros, who had left a smoldering ruin in the village. They were wielding their weapons against the monster while simultaneously protecting the civilians who were making their way into the safety bunker.

Some guardians barely escaped with their lives. Meanwhile, corpses and blood sprawled across the moist soil.

I watched in horror as Palkeros ruthlessly trampled the two unfortunate guardian villagers with its razor-sharp talons, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. Enraged by the mindless monster's assault on defenseless humans, a surge of fury gripped me, driving me to swiftly draw my heavy pistol and take precise aim at Palkeros' left face, unleashing three rapid shots.

BANG BANG BANG

Palkeros halted its attack, and so did the defending villagers, in confusion over who's the culprit behind the mysterious shooting.

But I elaborated no further as I jumped from the roof, swung my revving sword high in the air, and transformed it into an axe-mode as it was about to land on the monster's back.

And suddenly…

JSLOSH

The monster let out an agonizing cry as they agitated its body from my grasp. But I tightened my grasp harder by stabbing my left hand's claw into the neck, and I revved my axe-mode blade into the rev's limit with blood splayed on the moist soil. Deep in my brutality against this monster, I shouted to the halted guardian villagers in a poking tone.

"DID SOMEONE ORDER FRIED CHICKENS?!"

Of course, it confused the guardian villagers and my companions, as my sudden attack toward this monster was like a blessing and a curse to them.

As my revving sword plunged deep into the monster's body, I ruthlessly removed it, causing blood to splatter across the surrounding area.

Despite the monster's agonizing cries, I ruthlessly dismembered its body, delivering a fitting punishment for its atrocities. With a single shot from my heavy pistol's charge-shot bullet, I ended its suffering by popping its head.

As the chaos subsided and the rainstorm quieted, a profound sense of peace enveloped the once-tumultuous scene. The rampaging Palkeros's lifeless body lay sprawled, its gore spilled open and mingling with the moist soil, painting a gruesome scene of destruction.

Despite the easy victory, my companions and the remaining guardian villagers prefer not to celebrate, as they fear mistaking me for an unknown bounty hunter.

Henceforth, my companions could not contain their worry about me after the bloodbath, as Clarissa reached her hand to my back in a worried, soft tone.

"Tsuyuki?"

"W... what are you?!"

But all I could do was glance over my right shoulder, blood staining my right cheek, and respond to them in a bitter but sardonic tone, conveying my inner turmoil.

"Get skill, dumbass!"
