Lore tidbits
-Naming: The Forlorn Frontier was originally called Forlyn. Over the years, many people siarted calling it the Forlyn Frontier, or simply the Frontier. After Era's death and the Time of Strife that followed, 'Forlyn' became 'Forlorn' as a bit of gallows humor from the lifers.
-Geography: The Forlorn Frontier is centered around the southwest Shore of Awakening. It has a mild climate compared to some of the other colonies, and the Bushland has suffered less monster infestation after the Time of Strife ended due to its distance from their main breeding ground in the Delvendeep.
-Governance: The Frontier is not a true nation in itself, but rather a loose alliance of six city states; Shallowhome, Stormfort, Salvage, Timbryhall, Sheerhome, and Redwing. Each of these cities is ruled by a lord, and together these lords come together to form the Council of Peers, its members cooperating with and conspiring against each other in equal measure.

There were once eight city states, but in the Time of Strife two were lost due to large-scale monster attacks combined with meddling from their peers. These two cities were Godsong and Glory, which have now been reduced to ruins and breeding grounds for monsters.
-Enemies and allies: The Frontier trades freely with both Farthen and Stopover, but maintain only an uneasy neutrality with Thalia and its daughter colony, Birch. The Frontier's carefree and libertarian attitude clashes poorly with the religious zealotry of Thalia, leading to constant tensions between two colonies, threatening open war.
-The Winewater: There are many settlements along the Winewater river, as it serves as the main artery for travel into the Bushland interior.
-Sheerhome: Sheerhome is one of the Frontier's smaller city states, with a little under 50 000 inhabitants. Like many of the Frontier's city states, it is focused on trade as well as resource production via its mines and sawmills. Sheerhome is ruled by Lord Brimstone, a high-level Cook known for his fiery battlefield prowess.
There was once a settlement called Greensby that was wiped out by monsters in the Time of Strife. The survivors fled south to the coast and established a new settlement there, protected against attack by the cliffside, and this settlement became Sheerhome.
