02- A weapon disguised as a curse, or the opposite?

Yet another day had begun, just like every other day, he would help his sister with the chores on the house and in the farm, then go out and play with his friends, to tell the truth, it would be truer to say that they would come to play with him, he didn't know when that happened, but the other kids had really come to like him, he kinda felt like a token friend that was always carried away to everywhere, it give him a strange feeling, but he didn't hate that.

After all of that, for his happiness, today was quite special, he could go to the highest place in the coastal city, on a old lighthouse. Normally he would try to go home before sunset, but today was an exception, because of the Old Dog. Nobody really knows him and his past, only that by his white and green uniform, he probably was part of the Imperial Armada, the navy of the Farengjian Empire. The thing is, that always when he is here, nothing bad has ever happened during his watch, so as a really great exception, his sister let him stay past the sunset.

Finally, after so much time waiting for this day, he could watch his most prized wish, the vast and beautiful starry sky, on the closest that he can get on the top of the old lighthouse.

. . .

With her gracefulness as she goes across the sea, the Debauchery Princess comes closer to that remote coastal city, the city was named the Broken Dog, and yeah, it's people really like to name things and people after the Loyal Dog from the myths.

The Princess was fast and it's captain watched over the crew as they prepare, in some hours they would land and easily ravage the puny city, the crew was pretty confident on the outcome and already singing victory.

The Captain was especially excited, even though it was pretty much impossible to tell, the reason why, that as long as he get what he came to get, he would be able to get enough money for that.

. . .

It's been hours since the sun went down, and for the most part of the night, the sky was the same beautiful one that he had always know and loved, yet, at some hour, something became different, he didn't knew what, but he could feel it, he had seen those same stars for years now, and he could feel it, for the fist time on such a long time, something was finally different.

How funny, for in the future, he wouldn't share this same enthusiasm when he think about this day.

As he look upon the starry sky, he somehow could fell that there was more stars today, and that they shined way brighter than before. As the time goes on, they burned brighter and brighter, it was as if they are coming closer.

The time goes on, it was certainly past midnight, his sister let him stay past the sun set because of the Old Dog, but not that late, and in any other case he would had gone back, but today he couldn't, because today, the sky was just far too beautiful, and he couldn't think of anything else.

The time had gone on and the stars had come closer, and he could see their beauty. They exploded, they clashed, and they changed, at first, they looked like a burning bird, them it became a ferocious giant. So many figures, so much beauty.

"But. . ." He slowly says as reality forces him to face the inevitable. "They are no longer on the sky, aren't they here!?"

Since they had come too close, Dunkan was forced to get out from his trance, at this point it's more than obvious, that they may be anything but stars.

They are distant, but he could feel, the force behind their light. It was for a long time, they clashed against it other but finally, one of the star had fallen from the rest, it was a yellow one with a dark aura, and of course, on the direction of the lighthouse. Thankfully he leaved from his trance before it was too late.

Now, not old anymore, because the Lighthouse was totally gone, and Dunkan could see it, the star that he longed for so long was right there, and to meet it, he only need to just walk to fullfil his desire. Forgetting about the time, he proceeded, for his curiosity and desire was bigger than any common sense.

The area was destroyed, and only a hole was left there, and inside was the thing he thought to be a Star, something humanoid, but the like that he as never seen before, not even on his fantasy books.

It was big, probably three meters high and clad on black scale like things on it's whole body, and with wings four times it's size, but the most important thing, was a thing, something akin to sword, but it was too big, like a spear, but too long to be practical, and with a axe on it's far end that would cause too many problems because of it's size.

The thing that came was out of his imagination, but that weapon feel like some wonder weapon out a fantasy book, the fact that it's size dwarfed it's already enormous wielder was the proof of it's insane design. But then, the thing, begins to speak to him.

"You must be it, the one, the new bearer." It's voice wasn't neither masculine or feminine, nor did it sound like a demonic beast as it's appearance would imply, it was firm and determined, even though it lied down defeated on a crater.

Many things have happened and the creature in front of him was just too much for his young mind to comprehend, much less to understand what the creature was speaking, how it could speak without moving it's mouth and why he could understand it.

"I really would had liked someone else, but you will have to do." The creature says, trying to stand up with visible great effort, using that bizarre weapon as a support.

Now truly towering above the small kid beneath, it ask of him:

"What I may give to you is a gift of so much power, that I was chased to this planet by the ones in seek of it." It pauses, observing the reactions on the boy face.

"Just like True Humanity, with this, you too may be able to sail the stars and see what truly lies beyond your world." Again it pauses, but this time, the thing is sure that it got the boy attention. For the end, it reaches it's hand for the boy, so that he may be able to touch the weapon.

For many times, he had contemplate the starry sky, it's many stars an what it may lay beyond out there, what's sorts of secrets and forgotten things may exist. And now, a possible answer as just fallen from those very same skies.

He looks upon the hand that stands for him and it's insane held weapon, it may be too good to be truth, but it may be his only chance, there are far too many red flags, too many things that don't add up, but none of them matters, not on the mind of a young, greedy, inexperienced and foolish boy.

He raises his hand to take it, but someone stop's him, and for the moment, Dunkan leaves his trance.

"Are you truly sure of this young boy?" The Old Dog was there, and it made sense, even though the lighthouse was pretty far away, something like a humanoid dragon falling from the skies at midnight, would call the attention of everyone, imagine a zealous soldier like this old man.

Yet, it all felt quite silent and the old wasn't really trying to stop him, only asking about his choice.

This made his already confused mind, way more chaotic, many types of information begins to flood on his mind as many questions begin to take form, but yet, one thing is still able to stood out in the chaos that his mind had become, a strong and feverish desire, a desire for all the stars in the sky.

And as such he comes to a decision, he nods to the man refered as the Old Dog.

"I am sure." Three words, three words that in the future would come to cause so much pain and sadness.

The Old Dog hears that, and a visible look of pain takes over his old face, his answer:

"Yeah, I knew it, may luck be with you in the future young one." He no more tries anything and back away.

And as such, Dunkan finally takes the weapon.
