Sailing Away Through The Stars
01 - The Lion Cub is Too Greedy

01 - The Lion Cub is Too Greedy

A boy is sitting on the grass looking at the so familiar place to which he call home, just like most of the time in the recent years, he couldn't help but wonder if that was all that there's for his life. It may be something good and simple, yet, it still is so boring, in his heart he can't help but wish for more, for something greater, he wants for all the stars on the sky to be his.

It may sound like a foolish thought, but it is a perfect match for a foolish boy.

But his thoughts would have to wait, since the sun was setting and for today he doesn't plan to make his sister wait or him, he likes to be out till late in the night, but every time he does, his sister always wait. He consider it a foolish action, since she works every day, she will only be tired if she does that, yet she still does, he can't understand, but I guess she is just as a fool as he is.

Going back, he walks very slowly, appreciating his time outside, feeling the strong wind that carries the humidity of the ocean and the smell of salt, on the way home, passing by the harbor just like many other times, he would look at the many wooden ships and think by himself.

"Is there a ship somewhere that is able to sail the sky? If there's one, could I be able to sail on it one day?"

He would contemplate such a novel idea, but as he comes closer to home, he would had to face the reality, and such a reality was on land with many crops and animals to grow and take care.

While he contemplates, a big hand comes and take him off from his thoughts while patting him.

"It's already quite late, are you planning on take way longer than necessary to reach home again?" It was a old man on a navy uniform, while he reproach the boy, his voice contained only gentleness and a natural sadness.

He escapes from the patting hand and with a red face, the boy answer:

"Old Dog! Oh, sorry, I didn't expect to see you back here so early." The boy was clearly excited to see that man and what that mean.

"Yeah yeah, just go faster to your home and stop making your sister wait." Yet again, only gentleness.

"Alright! I will go now." The boy begins to run as fast as he can, because even if today was boring, the next day wouldn't be so much.

While he runs, the man that was called Old Dog, looked at that scene, his natural sadness, more visible than ever.

. . .

After finally coming back home, the woman waiting for him was a perfect reflection of the lion from the True Humans Myth, with blazing and beautiful long red hair like an eternal setting sun, wavy like the mane of the proud lion. Yet her body is tanned and strong, proof of a life of labor.

"Seriously? You are late once again, is there something happening with you recently Dunkan?"

She says while looking for any kind of injury on the boy, as if it was just standard protocol, Dunkan was a little boy over nine years old.

"Sis, there's nothing going on like that, you know that, everyone's either love's or fear you." He answer her, trying to escape from her embrace with a red face. "No one would ever dare try something on me."

He ends his answer while finally managing to escape.

"So, what's is your excuse for coming late these days?" She ask him, a little frustrated by his escape.

"Well. . . Hear me out, here's the thing, is this all that I will ever have, ever be, just one more farmer?" He says making many open gestures. "There's so many oceans and uncharted lands out there, I don't want to waste all of that here!"

She watched as the little one explained himself, but she couldn't help but have a big smirk on her face, her brother is only nine years old, all that many gestures that he does to be made more serious, only make him cuter.

"Dunkan, aren't you a bit too young to have a existencial crisis?" She says that, but for how cute his performance was, she is kinda surprised by his words.

"But sis, I know that you are different from the rest of the people of this city, like, you are far too beautiful in comparison to the rest of all the woman."

"I will accept your praise lil boy, but this don't answer my question."

Dunkan looks below, but still, even If hesitant, he look up to his sister in the eyes and says.

"Sis, just look at you, I am not dumb, I know that you have a especial lineage while I not. And that is what I wish to know, I want to know who is my father and mother, and the why we can't be together, why I am with you and not them."

She sigh's from his question, after all, that was something that she expected, still, it didn't make it easy, such a secret, such a torn past, wasn't something that she wished for her little brother to know, so, just like always, lies will have to do.

"We already talked about that, we will never be able to meet them, and, you already have me, I had and will always be with you, so, don't be like that."

She takes the opportunity from the moment of distraction from the boy and gently hugs him.

"And for your information, we truly are siblings, we may not look alike for now, but one day, we surely will." She kiss him in the head and warmly says. "Nothing will hurt you here, so, just stop asking theses questions okay?"

Between her arm's, the boy nod's with his head, but his eyes show that this matter wasn't finished for him.

. . .

On a wooden ship with two masts, it really wasn't that big of a ship, but for the people sailing it, it didn't matter, they would never take on a fully armed ship in the first place, and if that ever happened, it's size and hull shape made it a very fast and maneuverable ship. For a pirate ship, the Debauchery Princess was quite the capable lady.

In his cabin, wearing a black coat and a hat big enough to protect him from the sun, the captain of such ship was talking with his quartermaster.

"This time the place that we are going to, is quite special, so go and tell everyone that if they lay a finger on someone before I take look at them, I will personally show them the bottom of the ocean." He order on a cold and professional tone, unusual on a pirate or corsair.

"Are you sure Captain, it's been three weeks since we have been in the ocean, the boys need some relieve." He answer back to the Captain, already used to his cold tone and the strange white mask that he always wear no matter what the occasion.

The Quartermaster himself was a Sarian, a Sarian, being a race of reptile like people, he had blue scales all over his body and quite the huge frame.

"They can have all the fun they want, but only after I take a look at what we find, I heard that there is someone with especial blood there, you are a smart one, you can understand the rest." He slowly says, so that the information sink properly.

The Quartermaster is quite taken back, in a world where special's powers exist, someone with especial blood and lineage hold the most value, many wars have been fought because royal families wanted a power passed down from specifics lineages.

"I will tell them, but are you are sure? It's fire that you want to mess with." The Quartermaster is pretty sure of this, these type of people come most from great noble families, and one is there on such remote place, out on nowhere, this is a trap or a runaway one, he doesn't fell like getting involved on a royal family matter, and he really doesn't fell like putting a target behind his back for those magical people to shoot at.

"So what? While it's is probably really dangerous, just think about how much we can win of it's go well, irrational or not, for trash like us, it doesn't matter." He pauses, while his eyes show a look of reminiscence, after, he keeps on. "And tell her to come here, I want to know how much longer this journey will take."

The Quartermaster sighs and answer, already used to how his captain act.

"Aye aye, my captain, may or gamble go well." He speaks while thinking at what the consequences may be. "But and you know how she is, I won't promise that it will be fast." The Quartermaster says and then finally leaves.

And as such, the Princess comes close to it's target.
