Chapter 4 A Mess

Standing on a high cliff, surrounded by greenery, Sabra looked at a small green bottomless hole and touched her forehead lightly with her hand, a helpless sigh escaping her lips.

"Have they seen through it? They should not have." She walked closer, her white hair and clothes gently flapping in the wind. "This is not a design, how lucky can they get?"

"Latif, what brings you here?" She turned her head and her red eyes flashed in the direction of a coming male, who gave off a similar aerie feeling as her.

"Sister." Latif bowed, it was an honest bow, like he was revering her. "You received a mission to investigate an interference, but I see you have already found out."

"Yes brother, I will exterminate the source of this anomaly and return the balance to the continuum."

"Should I perhaps. .. "

"I do not need any help." She made a decisive gesture with her hand and lifted her chin, gazing straight into Latif;s eyes.

"As sister wishes. If there are any troubles, just say a word." Latif bowed and left, turning into a flash of light.

How could she need someone sneaking around? In the end, it was all her plan, leaking a spell to the demons, waiting for them to realize their invasive plans. She would have had the reason to strike against them hard and exterminate that shameless beast, Archon, but they had failed!

She could not do it openly and aggressively, the trouble it would cause would be endless and in the end she was not some vengeful spirit obsessed with revenge.

"Has he seen through it, or not? Is he plotting something? I will have to salvage this mess somehow without letting the others know." She turned her head and vanished in a flash of light.

But there is no rush, the demons may think to be able to do big magic, but they are just dancing on the palm of my hand.

"Strange" Krogar watched the swirling water around his legs. He could feel it was cold, but it was not unpleasant. "I should still keep myself from totally freezing, my bones would turn brittle." Krogar laughed silly.

"Honestly this is not bad, no cold, no need for food, I hope to encounter more of positive sides of this undead state."

It would surely cause an uproar if he entered any inhabited areas, he had been searching for a lonely house, hoping to find a lonely hunter. He was desperately in need of a mediator who would help him with his interactions.

"I can definitely not enter a city like a dancing queen, shaking my dead hips and pretending it is just a flu. I need someone to run errands for me, at least to buy some maps and ask around."

He looked around again and smiled like he had won a ton of gold.

"Target acquired, proceeding with the mission!" In the distance, he could see a mouldy wooden hut. He moved in the direction of the hut, crouching like a tiger, or rather like on old lady, because he was not yet fully accustomed to moving in the swamp terrain.

"Oh lord, can the water splash even louder? They will hear me from one mile away like this!" Krogar growled, but he ended up ignoring the noise and simply strolled towards the hut like he owned the place.

"Sound the trumpets, slam the gongs, dance and sing glorifying songs! After all that is performed and done, let it be known the king has come! "

Right in that moment, an arrow pierced through Krogar;s head.

"Is it still moving?"

"Yeah, apparently not much was there."

"Where should I shoot next? Isn't it meaningless?"

Krogar turned and saw two shadows moving behind a bush, an arrow stuck in his head.

Wait, how much undead I actually am? Isn't it over for any ordinary zombie at this point?

He had no idea and was not in the mood to find out.

"Hey, brats! Where are your manners shooting people without asking?" Krogar howled with his hoarse undead voice. (!)

"It talks, we should run!" One of the shadows panicked.

"Are you nuts? A talking zombie poet must be worth the weight of my ass in gold! Grab him!"

"No! I-. ."

"Punishemnt!"

"AaaaaghIII I will grab him, will grab him, stop it."

"Use the rope."

( (!) the reason for placing this marker will remain mysterious forever, if you thought this line should explain it, you have been shamelessly deceived )

Krogar listened to the interactions of the two shadows in the bush, genuinely surprised.

I have seen a similar scene before, I can recognize the pattern of the female domineering voice, it is a phenomenon even known to Earth. The female is certainly. .. a golddigging bitch !!

Krogar wanted to run away immediately, but the swamp was deep and he was too late, the obedient, heavily (M) male was already closing in with a rope in his hands, While his legs were shaking, he walked towards him, not daring to delay even a single step.

No, her power is apparently great, what to do?

Krogar panicked

A second passed and Korgar's face stiffened.

On second thought, he had not panicked at all..

A second passed as he extended his hand whispering softly, his voice devoid of all emotion.

"Order." A word of mana floated in space and the two turned into thin slices of meat along with everything in the small area in front of him.

Krogar watched silently as the pieces kept falling to the ground.

"Interesting, most of the words written end up like this." Losing interest, he moved on, walking forward.

How long had he been wandering about this swamp? Too vexed to go outside and meet with people, too afraid to contact anyone. Perhaps, he was not afraid, only lacked the means to meet with ordinary people in his form and in time, the lack of means turned into a habit, an unbreakable barrier.

The truth was he had not been here just for a while, he could not remember the number of days that had passed. He was like a stone lying at the side of a road, lost in time, unchanging. No, that was not the truth. He had changed.

He was only with himself for ages, detached from reality.

The hut he had seen. .. he kept coming here a lot, but it was abandoned, no one lived in it.

He had even shouted several times, but no one answered.

This day was the first day he encountered people in this swamp.

"Why was I even here the whole time?" He could not answer the question.

"Their remains are quite messy." He waved his hand and quickened his pace to get further away. Anxiety grew within him as he remembered the remains and the way he felt .. . nothing.

He was truly scared, he felt being at a crossroads. If he continued this path, he would really gain the mindset of an undead being, heartless cold logic, but with no hate, one who is more scary than a hateful person. Those who do evil with hate, they know they do bad things deep inside, but those who do evil logically with no hate, they are the ones to be feared as they do not even see themselves as bad deep inside.

"It is not a path I want to take." Krogar redirected his steps and headed out of the swamp. "I have been careful for too long, I have been afraid for ages and it is not worth the cost."

He lifted his head , his eyes no longer dim as those of a dead body.

"Just disappear, you mistake." A white haired figure with sprakling red eyes appreared out of nowhere and in a flash, Krogar saw an overly familiar face.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

"Wait:" Krogar was startled as the face he saw was not the usual face.

White coat?

"Josh, do not make trouble for yourself and take the medication, it will be better that way."

Krogar looked about and saw white color everywhere and no, this was not an ordinary hospital.

"Am I Josh now?" He asked with surprise in his face.

"Come on man, feed the pills to the Impaler already, so we can go eat something!" Another white coat emerged from around the corner.

" Sabra , how is the situation?" Latif appeared before the red eyed fgure.

"I have solved it." She smiled. "I tried to be objective and efficient as we all strive to preserve stability and non-interference."

Right, I have solved the interference, the portals should open properly now and based on their intervention, I will finally be able to exterminate the demon for good.

"You are perfect as always." Latif could not help himself but sigh, he knew very well Sabra's hidden agenda, "By the way, congratulations to a promotion, you are to report for duty at the surveillance department."

"What, promotion?" Sabra's attitude changed. "Why, something went wrong? They cannot just reassign me in the middle of . .. "

"You seem emotional sister. Very emotional." Latif said flatly.

That scum! He knew! Did he report me?!

"I will take over the work in this sector, do not be afraid, I will be the very image of impartiality, the same as you were." Latif did not even try to hide irony in his voice. What was she even thinking? She was not impartial at all, not even speaking about what she did with that Akir guy, does she call that fixing the situation?

"I will take my leave." Sabra said, the corner of her mouth twitching.

Krogar stared at the two white coats as his eyes went out of focus and the picture changed again into the one he knew so well.

"Right, this is the summoning, wait this should have happened BEFORE I was in that institute with white coats or?" Josh, or rather Krogar was startled, he looked around and noticed not only this important detail was distorted.

"There are only three of them now! That bossy one standing aside is missing! Was he simply deleted by the administrator or something?" He had no clue, but he had no other choice than to repeat the only method that worked for him the last time.

Repeating the same actions, he fell into the straw, saved Five from falling to her death and ran away, but just before he left the city he tought of something.

"Last time I left the city and all went down the drain, I will try out staying this time around!"

He looked around, thinking of a way to hide in a city, strangely, he could understand their words, meaning he could learn a thing or two here.

"Ha! Here is the place!" After shaking off his pursuers Krogar jumped into a sewer, disappearing in the dark mess below.

"Advance!" Archon stood proudly watching his hordes move through the portal, something looked funny about this moment, but he could not put a finger on it, it was mindboggling.

"Our first objective is to map the portals, what portal connects where and how strong the resistance of our enemies is." He turned to his long-tailed general next to him.

"I presumed you knew."

"It is too important, we should not rely on unverified information. We will attack the worlds with multiple connections first, "

"It will not be easy to pinpoint them, the protals will not shout at us you know." The big demon looked uneasy.

"We have time, the most critical step have already succeeded." Archon giggled and kept watching the horde pouring in. He could not have enough of this sight.
