Chapter 30: Inventory

=======================================

“What did you say?” Jonathan questioned.

“I said, nah. I don't feel like it.” Robin replied.

“What, you scared or something?”

Jonathan started to laugh and looked at his lackeys.

“This dog's too scared to pick a fight. You should be a chicken. Ba-bawk! Ba-ba-ba-bawk!”

They started making chicken noises. Robin just stared back at him.

“Did you read a book recently?”

“What?”

“Because you sound like the most generic villain ever. I mean come on, is that the best insult you can do? Are you five?”

To be perfectly honest, Robin didn't really mind starting a fight. Fights meant free experience, which meant another step forward. The only thing is, Robin's been in this situation countless number of times. For Team COBRA, every time they visited the kingdom, there would always be some morons that would try to bully them.

Every time they did, they would be crushed. This led to more bullies and more revenge matches. The losses piled up. Eventually, the experience got so low in comparison to his level, and the battles themselves got so frequent that Robin had stopped caring enough to purposefully start them.

= This time it's against the former number one. Maybe he might serve as a good punching bag. =

In Robin's mind, Raven already took number one in their year. In terms of power, level, and skill, she probably trumped them all except for himself who studied any book he could get his hands on. Even if she acted like a jerk to him, her strength was real. Mrs. Veranda once again interrupted their quarrel.

“Jonathan, Robin. I don't care if you want to duke it out, but you're going to do that on your own time. This is class time. If you can't behave yourselves...”

She leaned forward and said in a low voice.

“I'll call the Student Council.”

Every student except for the new ones shivered. Apparently, they were something to be feared. Otherwise, why would a teacher threaten calling a group of students than mentioning expulsion. The boy went back to his seat near the front and the lesson began. Mrs. Veranda passed out small chips. Upon receiving his own, Robin recognized it immediately.

Inventory Chip (+100)Allows access to alternate dimension where you are able to store items.

Restrictions: Cannot Input/Output large materials.

Cannot hold more than indicated amount.

Cannot be accessed by anyone except by the owner of the status plate.

“Now as some of you may know, these are special inventory chips that allows us to access an alternate space for storage. Go ahead and plug it into your status plates. Your status plates can only hold up to four Inventory Chips. As of now, the space technology has only advanced far enough to allow storage of small objects.

In other words, the only thing this is good for is for holding onto all of your spare Dust crystals, files, rounds, and magazines as well as your elixirs. The hole that each chip opens simply isn't large enough to fit large objects. You cannot fit any of your weapons, so no you cannot have weapons stored in here. All weapons will have to be carried on your person. Any questions?”

Robin already got his first one from his parents a while ago when he first started hunting with them. Thanks to the school, he just got another one for free. Why didn't he have more than one chip? A student raised his hand.

“How much does it cost to get one of these?”

“10,000 dollars.”

= Yep, no matter how many times I hear it. That's expensive. Haha, thanks for the free stuff. =

Robin inserted the small chip on the side of his status plate and checked it.

Since Robin started to train himself in martial arts, his mastery caused him to gain the Martial Arts Master bonus which replaced Hand-to-Hand Combat. In addition, Robin learned many skills thanks to Conner. Thanks to Conner's class, he always came up with the most annoying inventions, such as the Boom Traps that would trigger if someone stepped nearby, or the Smoke Bombs which he had used in the earlier fights.

Along with learning how to make some tools from him, Robin became the main target of Conner's antics. It forced him to learn how to defuse most of his traps and pick the locked doors when Conner switched which side the lock was on. Thanks to Conner, Robin learned three new skills and now knows how to make some gadgets for himself as well. The only thing Robin never understood was why Conner always targeted him of all people.

= Sweet. I can once again increase my arsenal. =

“Now lets explain the grading in this class. You will receive 50 percent of your grade through regular classes with me, and the other 50 percent based on your training in the gymnasium and Hunter's Guild. Depending on the number of missions, as well as the difficulty, we will determine the score you get. You also get to keep 85 percent of your earnings. The other 15 percent must go to the school.

We don't prepare elixirs or Dust for you guys except for missions or events where the entire class is involved. Please buy your own materials and prepare yourselves accordingly. Tomorrow we shall head to the Hunter's Guild to set up your Guild Card as well as let you experience your first mission. Make sure you have everything you need by tomorrow morning.”

As this point, Mrs. Veranda started teaching the lessons. It went and covered the same stuff they taught back in Rakshata. The only thing was, there were no separate classes. Mrs. Veranda taught everything. Thus, Robin, who used to be taking advanced courses, was extremely bored from listening to old lessons. After the classes were done, the bell rung to signal lunchtime.

“Remember that after lunch you are to report to the other building for training. After training, you have free time. Have a nice day and don't forget to do your homework.”

The group left to eat lunch. The school had both an outdoor and indoor area. After getting their food, they decided to sit outside just like they always did. As they began to converse, a group of kids walked up to them. It was Jonathan and his crew.

“Alright, now that there's nobody to bother us, lets do this.”

He began to crack his knuckles.

“First of all, I said no thanks. Second of all, you should have seen my level. Why are you still picking a fight?”

“Levels don't mean anything. Besides, I refuse to give up the number one spot to some faunus.”

“Then keep it and go away. I don't want to deal with you anyway.”

“Not happening. I hear you defeated an AK-130. You must have cheated somehow. Otherwise, there's no way you trash could get in Class 1A. What? You seriously don't wanna fight? Aren't you a man?”

“I thought you said I was a dog.” Robin retorted mockingly.

“Shut up!” Jonathan reached for Robin's drink in an attempt to pour it over his head.

Enhance

Robin grabbed Jonathan's wrist and stopped him.

“Don't even think about it.”

Jonathan struggled to pull away. When he did, he found his hand hanging limply.

“What did you do to me?!”

“Calm down, I just dislocated your wrist. Here, I'll pop it back for you.”

Robin rapidly approached and pushed Jonathan's hand back into place without giving him time to react. Jonathan pulled away to find his hand was now working. His pride, however, was slowing being shattered by this dog.

“That's it. You're going down!”

Brown aura was exposed from his body. From behind his back, he drew a weapon that transformed into giant mace. He jumped forward and swung it at Robin's face. It was pretty fast. Certainly, holding the  title of number one was no fluke, but who was Robin? Robin was someone who studied every book on weapons, martial arts, and how to fight.

Robin ducked, moved forward and grabbed Jonathan's wrist. Bringing it behind his back, Robin took a finger and jabbed in a couple of spots before going to sit down with his friends. Jonathan was stuck in the most awkward position ever. It looked as if he was holding his back like an old man while leaning back.

“Wha?”

“You'll be able to move eventually. Meanwhile, I'm just going to sit here and eat my lunch if you don't mind.”

The group sat and ate as if it was a given Robin had won. Jonathan's body twitched as he tried to move, but to no avail. His friends carried him away to the infirmary to get him checked out. A window popped up.

Yeah now it makes sense that they don't have huge backpacks to carry everything. Next chapter, we meet the White Fang! Rate, comment, enjoy! Thanks for reading!

PS. I swear if I see another comment about Raven's opness I'm going to punch a wall. This isn't even about Raven. Stop complaining about her. This arc is completely about Robin

Edit: I think I need to clarify something, Robin is my mc. That hasn't changed. I'm just saying next arc I might do SOME (not all)  POV from Raven/Blake. Robin is going on a hell of an adventure. He's just not the only one.
