Chapter 13: Time to Leave
=======================================
Some classes were boring, some interesting. Basically, it was just like how it normally was. One of few things that was interesting was the Dust&Grimm class. There the students learned about the basics of the existence of Grimm and the different ways to apply Dust.
The creatures of Grimm can be divided into groups based on race and age. Race is an obvious indicator of the type of Grimm, and different races of Grimm can be found in different locations. For example, in the forest, you can find Beowolves or Ursas; in caves, you can find Wingbats and Dimsnakes. All creatures of Grimm take forms similar to animals. Some of them can stand on their hind legs allowing dangerous reach and speed.
The other factor is age. The longer Grimm live, the more intelligent they become. This is because when they are young, Grimm come into contact with humans. This results with combat, and those that live on after each fight, fight smarter and engage only when they know they have an advantage. An indicator of age is how much of their outer body is covered in bones. As they age, the creatures of Grimm's bones start poking outside of their body. Some of them form armor that protects them while other bones add to their assets and increase their ability to kill.
Currently, there are four categories which society has divided the Grimm into. The first level are the Shadows. They are very young and have no outer bones. Thanks to this and their black fur, they give the images of moving shadows in the darkness, hence the name. They are generally very weak and small in size thanks to their young age. Many young warriors start off fighting them to train themselves. They are the most abundant types of Grimm.
The next category are the Skull Grimms. They have a few bones covering their outsides. The first outer covering they get would be on their faces. Thanks to being older, their bodies are slightly bigger than Shadows and sometimes hide their existences to strike at their unsuspecting targets. Many of these Grimm can bee seen to lead some small groups of Shadow Grimms. Their power are about ten levels above that of their Shadow counterparts.
After them are the Armored Grimm. Their entire back and limbs are covered in armor. Even the weakest Grimm are powerful enough to split the body of an untrained warrior in half. These Grimm can be seen commanding huge groups of Grimms, both Skulls and Shadows. They are huge and all are bigger than the size of humans but vary depending on their race. For example, the Shadow Nevermore is the size of a pigeon, but an Armored Nevermore is the size of the Town hall, wings spanning across a dozen meters each. In comparison, an Armored Ursa would reach the height of a room.Their power is about twenty levels above their Shadow counterparts.
Finally, there are the Exotic Grimm. Just like the Armored Grimm, they are extremely powerful. Their outer armor is so thick that a sniper rifle round at point blank would only annoy the beast, let alone scratch it. Their power are fifty levels above their shadow counterparts. Unlike the other Grimm, they do not attack on sighting a human. They acknowledge that attacking humans would only unnecessarily bring more humans to fight them. Instead, they move in groups, circling the borders of the kingdoms and waiting for the time to strike. The last time anyone fought an Exotic Grimm was over 100 years ago. If sighted, humans are to retreat immediately or wait for them to pass. Thanks to their seemingly passive nature, their groups are entirely composed of Exotic Grimm, making them hard to wipe out.
The creatures of Grimm are strange creatures. For some strange reason, they only aggressively attack humans and all the creations left by mankind. Therefore, any old civilizations would leave no ruins to indicate their existence. This would often leave to many roaming nomad villages to be completely wiped out, and nobody would know. Based on current research, Grimm do not attack other wildlife, and do so more out of territorial disputes than actual need for substance. Adding more to their mysterious nature, their corpses start to immediately disperse into black dust. At death, bones, fur, and meat immediately start to evaporate, making it difficult to study. Any said trophies are just replicas made from very realistically dyed animal fur. The main points that differentiate them from other animals in nature are their glowing red eyes and aggressive nature to humans.
This was all Robin had learned about the Grimm in general. His D&G class now concentrates on usage of Dust and learning the different species of Grimm. They learn their weaknesses and practice application of Dust. The most old-age technique was soaking it into thread and weaving it into clothing. Many schools nowadays just teach the fact that it exists, but not many use it thanks to its tedious need to weave it again after using it for some time.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Robin's homework and classwork was just practicing to put it into a piece of clothing given to them, because every weapon that can be used, should be used. A complaint about it being 'tedious' and 'boring' deserved a slap to the head, since that tedious work can save their life. Their village was surprisingly wise, but he supposed living in the wild had something to do with it.
It had been three months now, and they started practicing extreme Dexterity practice in PT. Planted in the ground were stakes. Some tilted, others flat, and many were unstable. The goal was to dash back and forth on the stakes while carrying weights. Currently, Blake was in the lead with Conner close behind. Robin was trailing behind them a bit while Adam and Ophelia were even further behind.

“Alright that's enough. Class Dismissed!” Instructor Braun announced.
And just like that, another day was over. Robin headed home after saying good bye to the gang. When he entered the house, there was nobody there. On the dinner table was a note saying..
===============
Robin, your mother and I are currently at a town hall meeting.
We'll be back soon so just get cleaned up and rest until we get back.

Meanwhile in the town hall, the adults were gathered discussing issues. A fox faunus with gray hair was looking at a stack of papers. This was the village chief, Barney Dinkleberg, and the man who adopted Conner.
“Alright, that settles the bills for the month. All seems to be in check. Hunting Team, report on the mission.”
“Yes,” a woman started her report. “All Ursa populations have been eradicated. Reports deem to find only young Shadows lurking the area every now and then. The request by the Kingdom is complete.”
“Good, we'll send someone to turn in the request soon. After that, we'll need to get ready to move out again once we receive the next request. How are the children?”
Mrs. Kertenkela started talking.
“The children are learning at an accelerated pace. All of them are exceptional and not arrogant in the slightest. If compared to the children inside the kingdom, they are leaps and bound ahead. Some of them seem to be capable of hunting at an early age, but I believe we should hold that off for a few years.”
“Very good. They'll need it. That should be all. Are there any questions?”
“Yes.” Joseph Wolfheart raised his hand.
“Go ahead Joseph. What's the matter?”
“The Vytal Festival is this weekend. I wish to bring the kids to attend it.”
Murmurs and shuffling could be heard.
“Silence. Joseph you know the reason why we haven't participated up till now. For what reasons do you believe we should participate?”
“Qrow is our benefactor. He saved both me and my child. I wish to properly thank him for helping us that day. The number of Ursas were much higher than we expected and almost killed many of our people. The other reason is that the Vytal Festival is a time to celebrate peace and UNITY. We might be fine with ignoring it all our lives, but our kids won't.”
“Our children,” Mrs. Kertenkela interjected “deserve to be treated like equal human beings. At such a young age you want to expose them to discrimination? The humans treat us like monsters! Do you want to scar our kids?”
“Hold on now, Lisa. Joseph has a point. The way we get rid of unequal treatment is through changing with the generations. If all we taught our children was to run away, how could they learn from us and not confront the problem? Even if the majority of humans are racist, we know many that there are kind and gentle as well. There shouldn't be a problem if we expose them to both. The main reason we refrained from doing so was because the discrimination was very intense these recent years.
Besides, we need to turn in the request and apply for a new one. We should use this as an experience to teach them more about this world, not put them in a cage. As for future involvements, we'll just see how this one goes and decide from there. Are there any disagreements?”
Nobody disagreed though many were uneasy of the idea.
“Good. Then, we'll begin preparations for leaving immediately. All families should be informed to go celebrate in the Kingdom. We'll leave in two days. We can also stock up on supplies after the festival is over. Meeting adjourned.”
