The Celestial governor of Material Body 384758SP needed a solution. The Celestial Body he governed had been rolling out to be one of the most prosperous worlds in the MMG. (Mutiversale Monitoring Group) Then his world discovered Mana, a foregin power believed to be stronger than any machine at the time. Mana was primarily used by small minorities of each empire, at least until the Sorcerer Union appeared. A nation that seeked world conquest by uniting every single spell caster under their banner.
Tensions were already high between industrialists and the casters, now this pushed it over the edge, sweeping the whole planet in the aptly named War of the Machines. Casters employed grand magics while new machines of war rolled out of factories in the thousands daily. Still, the casters managed to gain the upperhand, stomping the industrialists and effectively reverting the realm back into a feudal society, only with remains of grand factories and dilapidated railways.
This is where the new soul came in. He had recently asked one of his good friends, the governor of Material Body 23293847NS, to donate him a non-tainted soul. He had just recently given him one, but on further inspection it appeared to be two closely connected souls. One strangely had a “heart beat of steam” and the other's race simply wasn’t compatible with his world. A simple solution to that was switching it to one of the more prevalent races in his world, commonly known as Lizardkin. The other was odd though, it seemed to have merged with the vehicle it was meant to drive, resulting in a behemoth of living steel powered by steam. This will do perfectly, He thought, quickly preparing both souls from a trip planet side, where both would land together in the best condition railyard he could find that wasn’t looted.

Sam was scared. All he remembered was the sound shearing metal and now all he could feel was nothing, complete sensory deprivation. He couldn’t move, couldn’t talk, surely this was purgatory, but what did he do to earn this? That train of thought ended when he heard a rustling from somewhere on him. He frantically searched himself, not that he could, until he heard a distant voice. Almost indiscernible behind his own thoughts Sam rushed to focus on it, and slowly the clearity increased. The voice was easily discernible as Bill’s but it seemed rushed and frantic, worried Bill might be in a similar situation as himself he pushed a thought towards him hoping for a response. “Sam? Is that you?”, the voice said, recognizing Sam while sounding stressed.
“Bill! Where are you? I can't see or move anything!”, Sam thought frantically towards Bill.
“Sam, it's good to hear ya! All I got on my end is a range of colors that freak me out. I am surrounded by blues and greens while in other areas there are yellows and oranges, primarily me! And that isn’t the worst of it, I feel like shit while being unbalanced as hell!”, Bill angrily thought.
“You might have that weird sight I heard about once, what was its name again? Infrared or something, I at least know some snakes could see heat so the color could mean temperature?”, Sam thought, trying to help Bill.
“Well I think I just might have fixed it- holy shit.”, Bill stumbled for a moment after looking at himself with fixed vision.
“Bill? You ok?”, Sam thought desperately. “No I am not, I have a tail, scales, claws, and some very, very sharp teeth!”, Bill retorted, faint profanities could be heard across the connection, Sam couldn’t help but worry.
