“…I am the goddess that rules over this world, the Goddess of Creation, Atera.”
I inspect Atera a bit more, she looks pretty normal considering she is supposedly a god. Blonde wavy hair runs down her back to her hips. She has clear white skin and she looks as beautiful as any female European model I’ve seen in my old world. She does have an otherworldly beauty to her, although I can’t exactly place where it stems from. Enough swooning about gods now, in my old world I wasn’t exactly religious. But why exactly am I talking to a god right now anyway?
“Thank you for the kind words once again. I brought you here today more because I could than because I wanted to, I just finally wanted to say hello to you!”
So, all I’m here for is to say be greeted? Why didn’t you simply do that before?
“Oh, I wanted to when you reincarnated, but I can only summon people’s souls into this domain when they’re not conscious. And robots are always conscious. I simply wanted to give you the rundown on what’s happening here and why you got reincarnated, but I never got to talk to you!”
Uhm, sorry? So, what did you want to tell me then? Don’t tell me you’re some evil god who wants to use me as a pawn or for some other evil plot.
“Oh, no I don’t. I don’t have a stake in Terrarum anyway. I’m just an overseer, we’re here to keep the peace if it gets too bad and prevent the destruction of the world if that comes to occur unnaturally. I don’t do much of anything other than wait for disaster to strike.”
All right, that sounds logical, but what’s up with otherworldly then? Why are they here? And why is there a video game system in this world?
“Those are actually some of the reasons why I’m here! Unfortunately, I can’t tell you too much about the system, but let’s just say this world is better off with a video game system. The stuff about being reincarnated is easier, Earthlings are given a new chance at life randomly, and you ended up here!”
No big “defeat the evil guy” plot to follow? Really? Just have fun with a second chance at life?
“Yup! There’s more to it behind the scenes, but nothing you should be concerned about. Just have fun and do what you wanna do. Oh, except for going back home to Earth! I’ll have to kill you if that’s what you wanna do.
O-Okay, a bit menacing, but right now at least I don’t plan to. If it’s just having fun then why’d I get reincarnated as a robot? Shouldn’t I get reincarnated as something from the new world?
“Oh, that! Yeah, when you died, the system accidentally summoned a robot from your lab with you and then automatically implanted your soul into it. I didn’t really mind it though! I hope you don’t mind!”
Hmm, no I don’t really, it’s been pretty useful up to now. It is pretty annoying explaining to people what I am though! I just hope it doesn’t mess up anything in this world.
“I don’t mind it! Don’t worry, be careful with your evolutions though. I read through them after the system created them and was pretty shocked with some of the stuff it made up for you.”
Woah, really? What kind of stuff is in there?
“Not going to say anything. Just don’t worry too much about it. Oh, looks like you’re almost fully charged, I think this is goodbye! Have a fun second life, Andy!”
What? Already?! But…I…just wanted…to….
As my consciousness begins to fade, everything goes dark once more. Then my vision once again clears and the gigantic cone of vision of the Motus Intrepid opens up before me. When I orient myself, I realize that I’m lying in a bed in Seline’s home. Oh yeah, I passed out after fighting the Guild Master…
I get up and hang my feet out of the bed, it’s awfully quiet but it seems to be still bright out. How long do Intrepid Models charge for again? Like a day if they’re empty? So, I slept an entire day? I get out of bed and look around the house, nobody seems to be home.
The stuff I took to the adventurer’s guild is sitting on the living room table, when I pick my stuff up, I see that my guild card is also there. The Rank inscribed on it says A-Rank. No way! So, in the end, I still got A-Rank even though I passed out?
I debate for a second if I should go see the GM and apologize for passing out after the battle or if I should wait here for people to tell them I’m all right. For I decided to wait here when I realize something. Wait, is Emma better, or is she still in bed?
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
I go into the room Emma is lying inside and see her cuddled up sleeping soundly, she doesn’t have a sickly white color to her skin and looks healthier. I shake her a bit and urge her to wake up, she begins rubbing her eyes and then turns her head to me. When she sees I’m all right, she hops up from her lying position straight into my arms.
“Andy! You’re all right!” she hugs me close. “Y-Yeah, nothing wrong with me, what’s up?” I ask a bit inquisitively. Emma looks up at me, “Well, you came back from the guild unconscious and Seline didn’t know what was wrong with you! So we thought you died or something, Seline looked all over for ways she could fix you!” Oh, well…Suddenly passing out and not giving off any signs of life except a blue light from my chest probably would make people think I died…
I look down at Emma, “Don’t worry Emma, I simply ran out of Power. I need to recharge when I expend myself too much.” “You could’ve told us beforehand, you idiot!” Emma bangs against my metal chest and continues sticking close to me. “Sorry, Emma…Where is Seline right now?” I ask.
“She went shopping for dinner, she should be back soon. So what happened to make you need to recharge?” Emma asked, still holding me close. I explain that I used a [Skill] and charged it up too much, but I refrain from telling her about my meeting with the goddess.
Since only went shopping for dinner I decided to wait for her and explain why I passed out to quell her worries. I also asked how Emma was feeling and she said that she can walk around again, but still doesn’t feel 100%. Getting launched into a tree by a giant wolf left her in such a bad state, I’m surprised that potion and magic can fix it.
When Seline comes back and sees me lounging in her living room, she comes up to me angrily and smacks me across the head. Since she assumed the position of my creator, she had to lie to the GM that everything will be all right with me and that I didn’t just die after fighting him without actually knowing what was going on with me. She wasn’t sure if I died or not and looked around for ways to fix my issue but found nothing was effective.
I apologize to her too and decide to take a walk around town for once. I still need to tell the GM that I’m all right and I need to get another thing done that has been bothering me. When I get to the adventurer’s guild I get even more stares from the people around me, murmurs of “I thought that golem died in the fight against the GM” and “How the hell is he back?!” can be heard. I’m not some zombie you guys, I simply ran out of juice.
I once again ask for the GM and fix the misunderstanding. As I’m talking to him, I realize that I broke the weapon he had with him. I try and apologize to him but he just laughs heartily, “Hahaha! Andy, weapons are made to break sooner or later. Don’t worry, I had an upgrade in order anyway!” If he’s not fed up with it, then I won’t make a fuss either!
I decided to attend to the other thing that has been going on my nerves, robots don’t have pockets! I can’t wear stuff due to my joints being exposed, the clothing might get stuck in my joints so today I’m going to go to clothing stores and look for bags and back bags I could use.
I still get the same stares I got when I first entered the city, but I don’t let it get to me. I find a store that looks promising and enter. When I enter a young girl greeted me, “Welcome! What ca-,“ when she sees me enter she looks at me completely frozen.
She composes herself and asks once again, “What can I do for you?” “I am looking for something to carry my things in, it’d be best if it was durable because I’ll be using it while adventuring,” the girl looks me over a bit and then put a finger on her chin. Finally, she seems to realize something, “Oh! You’re that golem made by Seline, right?”
“Yup, that’s me,” I answer, “what kind of gear is there for new adventurers to carry their things around with?” The girl guides me over to a section of the store where a variety of bags are laid out, “We’ve got handbags that can be slung over your shoulder, back bags in all forms and sizes, and even small enchanted bags with larger inner capacity. Take your pick!”
I look over the selection they have in store here and decide on a small enchanted back bag, the particular bag I decide on is supposed to be put on a belt of sorts. I buy a utility belt with the bag and 1/3 of my questing money from the Wolf King is gone. Guess stuff that is enchanted with magic is bound to be expensive…
Should I buy myself some kind of weapon as well? Nah, I wouldn’t even know how to fight with them until I evolved to a class-specific evolution, I’m still the most knowledgeable with my fists.
I get back home in time to see Seline and Emma wash the dishes from their dinner. I relax a bit on one of the chairs today and decide to start my grand adventuring story tomorrow morning. Before I fall into proper relaxation though, Seline calls for both Emma’s and my attention.
“As both of you know, tomorrow I’ll start making my way towards the capital. I won’t let Emma stay here alone and Andy managed to become an A-Ranked Adventurer, who will probably be hired by a rich contractor soon. That brings me to the topic of this discussion, where will you go now that you can’t stay here, will you accompany me to the capital, will you find your own place to stay or will you do something else, Emma?”
Emma fidgets in her seat a bit and answers hesitantly, “I was planning to accompany you to the capital…” Seline smiles at Emma and pats her on the head, “Don’t worry Emma, I’d love to have you with me, you can stay at my residence in the capital.” Emma smiles at Seline, seems like these two have a mutual understanding.
Then Seline looks over to me, “Then, what about you Andy? Will you come with us to the capital?” Huh?! “Wait, I didn’t even know that was an option! Can I do that?!” I ask. Seline simply shrugs with a grin, “I can’t simply let my invention run around without its master, can I?”
“But what about the contractor thing?” I ask. “You can just do that in the capital you know? There are way more nobles over there, I could even put in a good word with the king for you,” she says a bit smug. Did she just keep quiet about this until now to surprise me?! I thought these coming days would be goodbyes! I look at her a bit queasy about how hard I’ve been played, “I’d be happy to accompany you…”
