Chapter 16 (Part 1)

Chapter 16 (Part 1)

Han Xin looked back as they pulled into the grocery store parking lot. Oddly it appeared that the American soldiers had backed down. It didn't matter to Han's plan however. A final battle would commence, and one way or another Qi Lian was going to die. Han had finally developed the perfect plan. He knew just how to deal with the American soldiers and Qi Lian.

Upon reaching the parking lot, Han could see that many of his reinforcements had arrived. They emerged from their vehicles awaiting their leader. Han felt wonderful in that moment. His soldiers now outnumbered the Americans who were in this area.

Before getting out of the vehicle Han turned to Qi Jiguang.

"Have the balance of the soldiers, the ones who are able to reroute go to the old abandoned Fort Tilden bomb shelter. That is where we will commence our final attack. And any of our people who are here working on cracking the codes should head there too." Han ordered.

"Consider it done sir."

Now Han got out of the car. The grocery store here had clearly been out of business for years. Evidently nothing had come in to replace it either. The building was empty and the outside looked to be in terrible shape. Only a couple of the letters could even be made out, so Han was unsure of what the name of the grocery store had been. The shelving inside was the only thing that gave this away as having been a grocery store at all.

"Good old capitalism." Han said under his breath.

Now Han walked out before his men and women. He looked them up and down. He noted that none of the reinforcements appeared to have any injuries to impede them. This was good news, for Han needed them to be in tip top shape to destroy Qi Lian.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I stand before you today confident that our mission will be carried out. Unfortunately, as is common in times of war, some of you will die today. There have already been numerous deaths among our ranks. I wish we could have anticipated a force that had the ability to fight back, but alas we did not. However this does not matter, for we will come out victorious." Han stated.

Han was forced to stop to shouts of hoorah and whooping from his soldiers. They were prepared for the battle, and were even excited it seemed.

"We can not underestimate the strength of Qi Lian and whatever force she will assemble. She has proven today that she is resourceful and is resolute in her own mission to stop us. That is why it must end here and it must end today. When we prevail in this battle, we will reassemble at Fort Tilden, and together we will launch our nuclear attack from the safety of the fallout shelter there. And we will rise forth from the ashes as the new rulers of the world. The humans that remain will have no choice but to bow before us!"

Again Han Xin's speech was interrupted by an eruption of cheers.

"To make this plan work we will need to begin on this final leg of the mission by finding some high ground to work from. When Qi Lian's forces attack us, we shall use our position as an advantage. We will also need explosives, I want to have some nice surprises set up for our attackers. So go now and gather all the supplies we need for bombs and all the weapons we need for the fight. Qi Jiguang and I will notify you of the location for the battle." Han ordered.

The Red Tide Soldiers, clearly excited, got into their stolen vehicles and headed out to find the supplies and weapons that they would need. Han had made sure that Qi Jiguang grabbed some soldiers for security purposes before the others left. Han watched his soldiers with pride. He was now certain that his plan was going to work. Qi Lian didn't stand a chance.

From the look in her eyes during their fight earlier that day Han knew she was out for blood. This is why he knew she would come, and Han's forces would be ready. She wasn't going to find a way to wriggle her way out of this plan. It was foolproof.

"Sir where are we going to send the troops now." Qi Jiguang asked, breaking Han's train of thought.

"I have been thinking about it and I wanted to ask you what you thought Qi Jiguang. What do you think of this place?" Han inquired.

"Bluff Point Lighthouse, it looks interesting sir. It looks like it was just recently restored. I do think this location would give us a clear advantage in our battle." Qi Jiguang observed.

"Yes I think that we are in agreement about the location. But you and I will have to discuss the battle a bit more privately in a moment." Han replied.

"Shall we head to the lighthouse sir?" Qi Jiguang asked.

"Absolutely, we will determine where we need to set the traps. Also where to station the snipers, all details that need to be worked out." Han said.

Han got into the car and his driver started driving off toward the lighthouse.

"We are going to need to procure some boats to cross over to the island that houses the lighthouse." Han observed.

"I don't think that will be a problem for us sir." Qi Jiguang responded laughing.

As the car drove along, Han looked out the window and saw a rainbow. There had been a light rain which had just recently cleared up, giving rise to the rainbow. It looked beautiful. Han felt that his plan was beautiful too. It would be too late for Qi Lian before she figured it out. Han felt it took care of the remaining American soldiers as well. He decided that he needed to share it with Qi Jiguang now, but he didn't want the rest of his soldiers to know.

Han now leaned over and whispered to Qi Jiguang, who was sitting next to him. Qi Jiguang shook his head a few times to affirm that he was listening.

"Wait sir, are you sure that is what you want to do?" Qi Jiguang asked out loud.

"Do you not feel this plan is brilliant?" Han replied with.

Qi Jiguang sat for a moment in silence allowing for the idea to wash over him.

"Actually sir yes. I think this is the best idea you have had." Qi Jiguang answered.

"Excellent, now let us go and make our preparations." Han said.
