Chapter 5: A Sunny Day

So, Nordan ended up waiting for the time required to level up. At first, he entertained himself by watching Liliam walk around in circles and huff; however, she soon fell asleep. So, he was once again forced to the confines of his own mind. Although he was essentially a god of his own world, sometimes he wished he could go back to the way it was.

He missed some of the video games he played and his old stories. Still, none of this really beat the fact that he was creating his own world! That was truly something no one else could say they’d done. Unfortunately, this didn’t change the boredom that took place when waiting for more astral energy.

As soon as he could, Nordan upgraded himself to the next level and once again got the normal bonuses along with a few more.

-10 Astral Essences

Level Up!

Astral Rate x10

New Upgrade Unlocked: Energy

Warning: Domain Change. Add an energy source or all life will cease to exist in 24 hours.

Nordan gasped as he saw the final message and instantly checked the energy upgrade.

* Energy: 0 Energy Sources

* Cost: 1 Astral Essence Per Source

* Astral Rate: -100 Astral Energy/second per

Not only did Nordan have to get a supposed energy source up in less than a day, he also noticed that his astral rate would actually go down. He would have to spend some of his astral energy to maintain his energy source!

Nordan groaned as he looked over at the angry Liliam. She had become increasingly annoyed as she waited for Nordan to return. Thankfully, he would be able to get enough astral energy to create this energy source in less than 1000 seconds which thankfully wasn’t very long. What was long was the now 10,000 astral essences he needed to level up. After doing some quick calculations, he figured out that it would take around 11 days to reach his desired goal.

It was clear that he was supposed to have had some sort of civilization by now to level up his astral energy production. He hadn’t done this and was stuck with his lower-level income.

Yet, he wasn’t sad about the outcome. He was enjoying the time he had spent with Liliam and wouldn’t have replaced it with anything else. Shockingly, Liliam never complained about anything besides talking with him or food.

At first, Nordan was surprised by this because he could think of all the amazing things that earth had. If anyone from there were to be taken here, they would probably think it was some kind of torture. He quickly realized that Liliam had no conception of what any of those things were.

In a way, he felt kind of sad for her. It was likely that she would never do some of the things he did. That thought process soon ended as he continued to talk with her. She always looked so happy doing so, even happier than most modern-day people.

As soon as he had enough astral energy to add an energy source, he did so. Sure enough, his astral production rate went down but in return, a small ball of fire appeared in the corner of his tiny dirt world.

Energy Source added.

Liliam looked over at it in surprise and suddenly shivered. She began to look terrified.

“What is this, I feel horrible!” she yelled out.

“The upgrade is complete… I guess you must be feeling cold, huh?” Nordan asked.

“Stupid, Sav! Why did you need to upgrade if it made things worse!” she cried.

Nordan sighed, “Liliam, dear, I think it’s about time you learned what clothes were.

She glared at the bird and said, “What are clothes?”

Nordan had a bird fly up to one of the cotton trees and point at it. “This is cotton.

Originally, I gave this to you to create clothes but it was clear you didn’t know how. Now, I will teach you how.”

“What if I don’t wanna?” Liliam pouted.

“Then you can stay cold,” Nordan said with a sigh.

Reluctantly, Liliam trudged over to the bird and listened to his lecture on how to create a simple shirt and pants.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

“Sav! This is hard!” she cried as she tried to maneuver a few cotton strands together.

“I know it is, Liliam, but I know you can do it,” Nordan said.

He watched as Liliam slowly but surely started to get the hang of it. She began to maneuver the strings into the right places and eventually, managed to create more of a blanket than anything.

“Look at it! I did it!” She held out the blanket for Sav to see.

“I like it. You’re doing great,” Nordan had a bird say.

“And it really is warm, you weren’t lying!”

“Well, of course I wasn’t… I wouldn’t lie to you,” Nordan groaned.

Yet, Liliam stopped in her tracks and looked puzzled. “Sav… am I special to you?”

Nordan paused for a moment and felt like he would be crying if he could. What a wholesome question.

“Yes… yes very much so,” Nordan said.

Liliam smiled and began to jump up and down for joy. “Yay! I’m so glad!”

She soon froze and inadvertently blushed, “Ya know, you’re real special to me too, Sav.”

Nordan felt warmer than he ever had before, even when he was human. Liliam was perhaps the greatest thing to ever happen to him in any of his lives.

“I can’t wait to show you everything that the world has to offer. It truly is endless,” Nordan said excitedly.

“Really? There’s even more than stuff like heat or food or clothes?” She started jittering from excitement

“Mhm… now speaking of clothes, you do know you are supposed to wear that right? How else will you stave off the cold?”

Liliam stared bitterly at the piece of cloth she produced and attempted to wrap it around her body. After failing a few times, she finally got it to stay.

“Yes! I’m so smart!” she cried.

Nordan was happier than he could ever imagine. Mostly because of his recent conversation with Liliam but also because he could now fully look at her without shame. She may have looked like a cave woman but that was surely better than nothing.

“So, Sav, are you able to make more food, now?” Liliam asked shamelessly.

He giggled to himself as he said, “Of course,”

He took the time to create an apple tree that produced plump red apples. He watched as Liliam gently picked one and bit right into it.

Her eyes lit up in surprise as she quickly munched the entire thing down. “That was good!”

She quickly grabbed another apple and chomped it down like it was candy. Perhaps something so sweet wasn’t the best idea…

Still, Nordan decided to let her learn her own limits. He couldn’t tell her how to do anything.

A few hours, he laughed at the image of her groaning on the floor. “Sav! I feel horrible! What did you do to me?”

He sent a bird out to say, “Nothing, silly. I don’t know why you ate so many apples at once.”

She groaned as she said, “I didn’t know they would make me feel sick! Why didn’t you warn me!”

“You have to learn yourself sometimes,” he responded.

She became red in the face as her face morphed into one of annoyance. “I’ll teach you… idiot!”

Nordan laughed at the false threat and decided to do something special for her.

He added a whole energy source to the pool of water he had created to heat it up. Once he did so, he removed it and tested a plant there to ensure it was a safe temperature.

“Go ahead and jump in there,” he offered

Liliam gave a confused look at the bird until doing as he said, clothes and all. Nordan had not thought about that.

“Woah! That feels so good!” she said happily.

She splashed around for a few moments before yawning.

“Wait!” Nordan screeched in her ear, causing her to jump back in surprise.

“You stupid idiot, why did you do that!” she yelled, smacking the bird.

“You can’t fall asleep in there moron, you’ll die!” he said.

She looked at the water with wide eyes and slowly got out. “Are you trying to kill me?”

“No, that’s why I told you about it. It’s way safe unless you stay in there for a super long time.

She nodded her head and decided to just sit up against her normal tree instead. This didn’t make Nordan feel too good, so he decided to create a sort of pillow plant so she could sleep better. He ended up creating a ton of these to form a sort of bed and instructed Liliam to sleep there.

As always, she was hesitant at first but soon found herself enjoying the soft plants much more than the hard trees. Once she fell asleep, Nordan allowed himself to reflect on everything he had gained so far.

With the addition of energy, he now had everything he needed to make a real world. At this point, he could start to create a world just like earth but he disliked that idea. He didn’t want to just replicate what he once had when he could do so much more.

He could save so many lives by creating medicinal plants or not creating bacteria. There were nearly infinite solutions to what he could do.

He glanced at the now fast-asleep Liliam. He wanted to show her all those things. He wanted her to experience them. Even more than that, he wanted to be able to show her in person. He didn’t want to be some god that could only watch over people.

Indeed, that was another one of his worries. It would suck if all he could do was forever watch over his creations and indirectly interact with them. He wanted to live with them.
