Chapter 3: A Small Time War

As soon as he got it, another human being rose from the dust and looked around. It was another woman, as Nordan wasn’t sure what would happen if he put a man in there. Besides, it would have hurt his soul a little if he did.

A tanned skin black-haired woman slowly rose from the ground while staring at the other woman with sharp eyes. She held a thicker frame with strenuous muscles

“What is this?” she growled.

The white-haired woman, who he had named Liliam took a step back and said, “Food and drink.”

A sick gleam came over the black-haired woman as she stormed forward and grabbed a handful of avocados. She started gorging on as many as she could put her hands on.

“Wait! Please save some!” Liliam cried.

The black-haired girl sneered as she continued to grab more avocados, “Don’t care. These are mine.”

Nordan wasn’t sure what had gone wrong. He had simply done the same thing as when he created Liliam. Why was this woman so much different?

“Wait! Please!” Liliam cried as she ran up to the black-haired girl whom Nordan decided to name Raven.

However, Raven was much stronger than Liliam and she was not afraid to use that strength. She pushed Liliam back hard enough to make her fall to her feet.

“Ow! Why did you…” she asked.

Raven snarled as she walked up to Liliam and punched her mercilessly. By now, Nordan was once again freaking out. Why was she doing this?

Liliam backed up in terror as Raven snickered, “My food, bitch. Stay away or die.”

Liliam slowly nodded her head as she backed up into a corner with tears running down her bruised face.

Raven smirked as she continued to gorge on avocados until there were none left. She then focused on the water and slurped down as much as she could. Eventually, that ran out too.

“You! Where is more food?” she growled.

Liliam rapidly shook her head in fear and said, “I don’t know! It just appeared!”

Raven hissed as she walked up to Liliam. “Tell me bitch or I’ll eat you!”

Liliam looked terrified but she couldn’t do anything. Nordan sighed as he created another avocado tree next to the other one catching the attention of both Raven and Liliam.

Raven glanced at Liliam before making her way to the new avocado tree and gorging again. Liliam sat there and started crying, making Nordan feel horrible. Why was Raven so much… worse than Liliam?

Unfortunately, Nordan partly knew the reason why. Human culture as he knew it was carefully developed over thousands of years. Before all of that, it was just like this. Eat or be eaten.

Why Liliam had turned out so much different from what nature was supposed to be was beyond Nordan. However, he knew that he wanted her to live. For lack of a better word, she was special to him.

Thankfully, as soon as Raven finished consuming her fill of avocados, she fell asleep next to the tree. Liliam was clearly hungry but her fear of Raven outweighed her desire to eat or drink. This worried Nordan so he decided to do something for her.

As she sat in her corner, he slowly expanded the space behind her until there was another bedroom-sized space. He immediately knew that he couldn’t remove any dirt blocks that would have exposed his life to the nothingness but he could once there was somewhere else to go to.

That was exactly what he did causing Liliam to fall backward in surprise. She slowly got up and looked at the small room in surprise. Inside of it were five more plants. An avocado tree, a water stalk, an oxygen plant, a light one, and another new one.

Nordan didn’t like that she was hurt by Raven so he decided to create another plant with medicinal properties. He designed it so that it dripped a healing ointment that healed wounds upon touching them.

Liliam slowly investigated it. At first, she started drinking the liquid but quickly realized it tasted horrible. As she was doing that, a few drops landed on her face and she immediately felt the healing sensation.

She jumped back in surprise as she felt her face with her hands. She gasped as she realized that the bruising was nearly all gone. It didn’t take her long to fully douse her entire body under the liquid.

Nordan smiled as he watched her smile for the first time ever. She then treated herself to a few avocados and a couple of drinks of water.

A soft grumble caused both Nordan and Liliam to jump back. Obviously, Nordan didn’t actually jump but he imagined he would have if he was human.

Raven was moments away from waking and that meant she would find Liliam’s stash. Luckily, Liliam seemed to understand what needed to be done as she walked back inside the main room. Nordan sealed the room behind causing her to open her eyes in wonder. She looked around as if there were someone there but soon realized that she had much bigger problems.

Raven woke up with a grunt as she looked around the room. Once her greedy eyes found sight of Liliam, she sneered.

“I’m bored. Entertain me,” she commanded.

“How?” Liliam asked.

She tried to back away but Raven walked up and grabbed her. “I said to entertain me bitch. Do it or be my food.”

Liliam slowly started to dance around in an attempt to do as Raven was asking. She was laughing ar first but soon found that it still wasn’t enough. She slammed her fist into Liliam’s gut causing her to fall to the ground and gasp for air.

“Please! Stop!” Liliam cried.

Raven started laughing harder as she kicked Liliam again, preventing her from getting more air. Nordan was becoming angry but what could he do?

Liliam’s beating went on for a little while longer until she lost consciousness and Raven became bored. She went back to eating avocados and fell back asleep. Eventually, Liliam woke back up and crawled back toward her corner.

Nordan immediately opened up the passage for her and she crawled inside. She barely made it to the medicinal plant before she collapsed from exhaustion. Thankfully, the plant did its thing, and all her wounds were healed.

Unfortunately, this didn’t mean her mental ones. She barely ate any food or drank any water. Instead, she was continuously glancing at the entrance to the room in terror. She was about to head back to the main room but Nordan decided that he wouldn’t let her.

He sealed the entrance causing Liliam to back away.

“Wait! She’ll break through! It’s soft! Please! She’ll come and get me!” Liliam cried out.

Still, Nordan couldn’t bear to see her get beat like that again.

“Please!” Liliam cried.

Nordan desperately wanted to comfort her but he couldn’t. He was forced to watch as Liliam was tortured. Worst of all, it was all his fault. He had thought that creating another person would have made Liliam happier. Not this.

Suddenly, a roar sounded out from the main room. Raven had awoken and she was clearly not happy about her play thing being missing.

“Where are you bitch! You’re mine!” She kicked around the dirt in different places. That was until Liliam shuffled and made noise.

Raven instantly heard it and locked in on Liliam’s location. She started digging through the dirt for her sport which terrified Liliam even more.

Nordan once again started panicking as things were not looking good. If Raven caught Liliam then there was no doubt in his mind that she was going to kill her.

Suddenly, he thought of something. He created a plant right next to Liliam which quickly got her attention. The plan quickly grew into a hard sharp object with a slight groove in the center.

Thankfully, Liliam caught on as she slowly broke the sharp object from the plant. She held it up in front of her and slowly nodded to herself.

As soon as she did that, Raven’s fist punched through to the other side. The dirt wall proceeded to collapse as she pushed herself through.

“You hide from me with food!” she growled as she looked around the room.

“Now, you’ll be my food!” she screamed as she charged at Liliam.

This time, Liliam threw herself to the side, barely dodging Raven’s charge.

“Stop moving!” Raven cried in anger.

She ran back up to Liliam and launched her fist at her. Lialiam used her weapon to block the fist; however, it still managed to push her back.

“What is that? What are you trying to do?” Raven cried.

Liliam refused to respond as she glared at Raven with hate. She was done being her plaything. She was either going to kill Raven or die trying.

Liliam charged Raven, taking her by surprise. She never expected the weak Liliam to do such a thing.

This allowed Liliam to puncture her stick straight through Raven’s stomach causing her to scream in pain.

Raven fell over with the stick still inside of her. Not knowing any better, she pulled the stick out of her stomach causing blood to burst out of her. She gradually stood up waving it around like a madman. Perhaps, she was exactly that.

Nordan could tell that Raven didn’t have much longer left; however, she could still do plenty of damage in the time she did have.

This was exactly why he started freaking out when Raven charged Liliam with the stick in her hand.

Liliam tried to dodge like she did before but Raven saw through it and grabbed her by her neck.

“Now you die!” she screamed right before bringing the stick back to stab Liliam.

Liliam closed her eyes in acceptance and prepared herself for the blow. A quick whoosh of the air and it was all over… but not for Liliam.

She slowly opened her eyes in confusion as Raven stared at Lydia with wide eyes. Blood started leaking out of her mouth as she slowly looked down at her waist. There was a large plant jammed in there, one that seemingly came out of nowhere.

Yet, Liliam knew where it had come from along with all the other plants that appeared.

Raven slowly slid off the plant and fell to the ground, dead. Liliam stared at her for a moment before walking over to the medicinal plant and healing herself. She then grabbed more avocados than usual and walked back toward Raven. She placed them on her body.

She then walked back to the main room and sat down next to the oxygen plant. She stared at it for a moment before saying.

“Why… did you help?” she asked.

Nordan couldn’t respond but he as always, wanted to. It broke his heart to have to leave her questions unanswered.

“Can you… not speak?” she asked.

Suddenly, an idea popped into Nordan’s head. He summoned a small green flower on the ground. Lilium stared at it with wide eyes until she thought of something.

“Um… does that mean yes?” she asked.

Another green flower rose up in front of her. A small smile came over her face as she looked at the ground excitedly.

“Um, so can you speak?” she asked.

This time, a red flower arose from the ground. Liliam smiled widely and Nordan could only imagine he would be doing the same if he could. He could communicate with her. Finally.
