Rise of The Golem Artificer
C1 - Another World

C1 - Another World

The school bell rang, many students stood up and left the classroom to go to the cafeteria. Only half the students stayed in class since they brought their food from home. Zed stared outside the window, overlooking the other students playing in the field. It was just like any other school day, dull and deadening.

"... Hey! hey! Are you listening Zed?"

A girl waved her hand in front of Zed's eyes, trying to get his attention. Aaron, another of his friend who was sitting next to her laughed at her predicament.

"Yes, Ciara? What were you saying?" Zed asked.

She pouted, "Like I said, we should raid some bosses tonight!"

Ah, yes. She was talking about the MMO we played together. It was fun, too fun in fact. Because we played way too much of that game.

"No... I need to study." Zed said.

"Study? Why are you so slow Zed?" she asked.

While she claimed to have never studied seriously, she always have almost perfect scores on her exams. It was ridiculous. Is she a prodigy? That was the question that perplexed Zed for a long time. If only she would just share her studying method.

"I'm not a prodigy like you Ciara. I'm human, and humans take time to learn... Unless you want to share your learning metho-" Zed was cut off before he finished.

"NO! you're not getting my secrets." she pouted.

That was what Zed had expected. Now, here comes his secret move, acting stupidly sad. Zed scrunched up his face, making crying sounds like a kid.

She tried to hold back, but burst out laughing anyway. On the other hand, Aaron managed to hold back his laughter, only giggling a little.

"Hahahahaha! You look so stupid!" Ciara said. "Fine... I'll share a few my studying secrets."

She went into talking mode, babbling about the importance of feedback and other fundamentals of learning effectively. It was interesting but all of a sudden, a circle formed on the ground. It glowed brightly, blinding Zed's eyes before everything went dark.

Zed opened his eyes and saw smooth stone bricks covered the entire floor of a massive chamber, large marble pillars supported the whole place, and flags hanged on them with coats of arms he had never seen before.

Similarly, Zed's classmates were here as well. They stood up from the floor, looking confused. Some panicked, thinking that they had been kidnapped. At the entrance of the chamber, a robed man surrounded by other armored men came to them.

"Greetings Otherworlders! I'm Prime Minister Weiss Lordan. You have been summoned as heroes that will save this world!"

A girl with purple hair yelled, "Wait what?! What do you mean another world?! Is this some kind of prank!?" She was Alina, one of the popular girls in the class.

"Calm down. This is no trickery. I shall demonstrate some real magic." The prime minister said as he pulled out a small wand. He nodded at one of the guards, who similarly replied and took a pot and poured some water on the ground. The prime minister pointed his wand at the stone floor, a jet of fire shot out, heating up the water until it turned to steam.

Everyone looked with a shocked face. That jet of fire looked too real to be fake.

This time, a tall red-hair student stepped forward, "If this is another world, then why are we summoned? We're just students. We can't really help you or anything."

"A very good question young man. Otherworlders such as yourself are powerful regardless of age or experience. This is because otherworlders are blessed by the gods!"

The prime minister received skeptical looks from the students.

"Try this, will for 'Status' to appear," He said.

Zed did just as he said. A menu appeared showing off his stats.

[Zed Ramirez]

[Class: Golem Artificer]

[Ki Prowess: F-]

[Ki Potential: F-]

[Mana core: Dark red]

[Mana Affinity: D]

[Skills]: [Design Golem] [Create Golem] [Concentrate Mana] [Analyze]

Oh wow, that actually worked. Zed looked at his stats. He seemed to have gotten a class called 'Golem Artificer.' Zed wondered if the golems of this world were similar to the ones depicted in fantasy fiction. His other stats didn't seem all that good, especially anything with whatever this 'Ki' was.

"Hey Zed, what did you get for your class?" Ciara asked.

"Huh? Oh, I got Golem Artificer. What about you?"

"I got Enchantress."

"What about you Aaron?" Ciara asked.

"I got Fighter," Aaron said.

The prime minister continued. "You're probably wondering what these mean. Let me explain. First of all, your class is your specialty. You'll gain special abilities and skills based on your class. For example, if you're a warrior, you might get a physical skill. There are combat-type classes and non-combat type classes."

"So it's just like a video game?" Ciara asked.

"I'm afraid I don't know what this 'video game' is," The prime minister, Weiss, said.

"Nevermind," Ciara replied.

"As I was saying, your Ki, or your life force determines your physical power. Your ability to exert strength, your life-span, your regenerative power, and everything physical-related. Your Ki potential is the rate of your growth, the better the grade, the faster you can grow your Ki Prowess. Similarly, Mana core and mana affinity works in the same way. Cores start from red, to orange, yellow, green, blue, cyan, blue, violet, white, with varying shades in between. The weakest being red while the strongest being white. Mana affinity is your ability to grow your mana core to the next level."

"How do you improve this Ki Prowess?" Blaine, the tall red-hair asked.

"Ki prowess grows simply by using it while Mana core evolves based on your ability to concentrate mana. I'm sure you have noticed the skill [Concentrate Mana] in your skills list. As for Ki Potential and Mana Affinity, there is no known way to improve those."

Weiss paused for a bit, "But worry not! Even if you have a low grade, which is unlikely, there are plenty of opportunities for otherworlders! Your existences alone are highly valuable.."

"Can we go back to our world?" asked a random student.

"Unfortunately, I'm afraid not. You heroes must defend this world from an invasion foretold that'll soon befall upon us. Then, a portal will open back to your world. Only then you can go back to your world!"

Zed frowned, 'Well... crap. That's not good.'
