Alistair read through each prompt, even though his eyes were still closed shut, he could still see the HUD Myst had created for him. He briefly wondered about how hard it was going to be to sleep with this HUD being in his mind even when he closed his eyes before snapping out of it realizing what had just happened.

“You mean I could have been wearing these boxers and clothes this entire time!?!?!” Alistair shouted, directing it straight at Myst.

[I mean… Technically yes, but in my defense…] Myst started, obviously holding back a chuckle, [How was I supposed to know what was in the box?] Myst asked.

You’d better not be about to laugh… Alistair warned Myst. Just because you didn’t know what was “In” the box is irrelevant… Alistair thought, grinding his teeth. The fact that I had a box in my inventory called “Starter Kit” which also stated that it was a “Divine gift from Mother” would surely have been knowledge I would have very much liked to know at any point during today.

[Hey, I wasn’t hiding the fact you had it in your inventory, if you would have just accessed it you would have easily been able to see it too…] Myst started, then realization struck him. [Oh, you didn’t know you had an inventory before now, Earth didn’t have an inventory system…] Myst worked out. [I’m sorry your world had a horrible design by what I can only assume was the laziest god ever.] He finished.

I’m gonna need a minute… Just don’t talk to me… Alistair said pacing back and forth, positively fuming.

God Fucking Damn it… Had me walking around, fighting chimeras, and climbing trees in the fucking nude this whole time… Little piece of shit…

[Whoa…] Myst tried interjecting.

“I said, Shut… Up!” Alistair snapped back. He waited to see if he was going to say anything else. After about thirty seconds he began pacing again, muttering obscenities.

Alistair took deep breaths, playing back the most awkward moments in his head. The fight with the Chimera, Laying unconscious bent over on the pile of plant fibers, and climbing the tree, clinging to it while tying ropes around the thick branches at each step. All while fully in the nude…

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Alistair was so mad he could…

"Tssss… Pfffff...” Alistair let out. Why am I laughing? He asked himself. Then out of nowhere, he burst, keeling over and just laughing. Laughing at the thought of him doing his stick-wielding twirl routine, thinking he was looking badass like Darth Maul, but instead looked like a loon, flailing around with his two shafts.

[Why are you laughing?] Myst asked, emphasizing the “are” word.

Alistair tried answering but just couldn’t, he just kept picturing all of the stuff he was doing. Instead, he just sent him what he was thinking through their connection.

[So… You’re not mad at me anymore?] Myst asked, genuinely confused at what was going on.

Oh, Alistair started, I am… I’m just thinking back on all of the things I have done so far in my birthday suit.

[Birthday suit?] Myst asked, [You were naked…]

On Earth, a "Birthday suit" refers to what you are wearing the day you were born… Alistair said, finishing with, Naked… Myst, we are all born naked, hence why we call it our “birthday suit…” Alistair said, facepalming and swiping his hand down his face.

Alistair mentally access his inventory and selected the red shirt and like before, mentally thought about him putting it on. Just like that, he was standing there with a plain red cotton earth-quality long-sleeve shirt. Feels nice… Alistair thought as he moved on to the pants, then paused. Can I wear these with the leggings? He asked.

[No, however, you can wear the shirt, since it's categorized as an undershirt and not armor.] Myst answered.

Ahh, that’s fine. I'll just wear the jeans when I’m not expecting combat or just lounging then. He said, selecting the leggings he had recently added to his inventory and equipped them as well. The pants looked and felt nice as they were, though Alistair took note of some “minor” adjustments that would eventually need to be made to account for certain areas. He pushed that task for some time later and walked over to his newly crafted leather jerkin with the dragon head now prominently displayed on the chest.

He touched it and mentally added it to his inventory and he noticed something different. He now had 44 slots instead of 40 and then remembered that he equipped the pants that gave him +4 to inventory slots. So for me to get the inventory slots I have to be actually wearing the item? He asked.

[Of Course.] Myst said, [As well as effects and other stats you will find on other pieces of gear later on. However, you won't see a lot of those that you can wear at level one.]

Makes sense, Alistair said as he equipped the leather jerkin that was now in his inventory. As he did so, it appeared on his body, and instantly felt a nice comforting wave of warmth. Oh… That is… Nice…

[Oh wow, yeah I agree… that feels great…] Myst said in return.

So you feel everything I feel? even when I’m not actively wanting to share? Alistair asked, thinking of those ramifications.

[Yes,] Myst answered feeling the slight worry that was coming from Alistair, [however, it is only the physical that I can feel. The emotional and mental feelings are yours and only can be shared, the same goes for me.] He answered, trying to put Alistair at ease as best he could.

Okay, I guess that is alright… Might be best if you can feel what I am feeling so that it can work as motivation to help me as best as you can to avoid the pain. Alistair said. That way, if you do something to get me hurt or… He said rearing his foot back as far as he could and kicking the shit out of the table leg with his shin. “Ouch!!!”

[Ahhh, what the fuck was that!?!?!] Myst screamed inside Alistair’s head.

“Or you decide to leave out crucial… *Hissss*… Information just for a laugh…” Alistair said through gritted teeth, now realizing that it was a mistake but making the bluff anyway. “So now, in the future… You must decide if it's worth it or not…” Alistair said, driving the point home.

[Alright, alright…] Myst said, [Man that hurts bad… Way worse than that bug that spit on your hand when we woke up.] Myst said.

Oh, it gets a lot worse than that Myst… A LOT… Alistair said.

With his revenge now enacted, Alistair accessed his inventory once more and equipped the backpack that he saw in there. He instantly felt the straps on his shoulders but strangely that’s all he felt. There was no weight to it at all. Hmm. Feels very light.

[Well, yeah. Backpacks are just cosmetic, the items are inside your inventory. The item just expands your number of slots.] Myst explained.

Okay, Alistair said while twisting his body trying to feel if there were any added restrictions to his movement. There were none that he could feel. I was worried about needing to carry such a bulky thing on my back and it affecting my motions while fighting. Alistair said. Will it get in the way of my weapons, if I have them around my back? Alistair asked thinking about how his characters in video games always carried their swords and weapons on their backs.

[What? Why would you carry them on your back?] Myst said sounding very confused. [You just take them in and out of your inventory…] Myst said.

Oh… Well shit, yeah that makes sense doesn’t it…” Alistair said thinking about how dumb that question sounded to Myst. He must think he got stuck with an extremely dumb person. Alistair thought while pulling up his inventory once more to look at.

[Especially since he can hear you talk about him and yourself like he isn’t inside of your head…] Myst said silently in an almost whisper as Alistair finished going through his list.

Jesus Christ…
