Exhausted from the sleepless day and night she had to endure, she grips her silver claymore tightly with her remaining strength and attempts to stand but only falls onto her knees in failure as multiple beast-type Anomalies approach.

The woman grits her teeth and her eyes flash a look of rage before screaming loudly and viciously, cursing at her own situation, "DAMM IT ALL!!!!"

The beast-type Anomalies creep closer and closer until they grab a hold of the woman, the beasts hold the woman down onto the blood covered concrete ground and begun to claw and gnaw at the woman's flesh...

But a young Black Heart hunter wielding two cane swords appears from the darkness and slaughters the beast-type Anomalies with a flurry of slashes.

The young Black Heart hunter looks over the woman, she was bloodied and her breathing had weakened, her eyes were unfocused. A hint of despair and worry across the young hunter's face.

"Commander Rachel?" the Black Heart hunter calls out to the woman only to receive no response.

"Commander Rachel?" the young hunter calls out once more but again, no response. Immediately the young hunter gets on his knees and analyses the severity Commander Rachel's injuries.

Her arms are completely torn apart, I can almost see her bones. Her pulse and breathing are weakening by the moment.

Realising that she was in incredibly horrible shape, she needed medical attention immediately but without any medical supplies, the young hunter tears his clothes and patches the commander's wounds with the torn cloth before lifting the her on his back and carries her into the night with the goal of making her survive...

Chapter 6: For even if humans try...

----------------------------------------

June 19, 1789, at midnight, within the streets of Eichenheim's residential district. The young hunter had carried the now unconscious Commander Rachel on his back for an hour, who was still miraculously still alive. But by now the young hunter was exhausted and so he falls down to the ground. Panting heavily from the exhaustion, he stands up and sees a large werewolf right in front of him.

He frantically stands up and unsheathes his two cane swords. The werewolf charges at the young hunter in a blinding rage, attempting to claw at the hunter with a flurry of attacks. The hunter dodges the flurry of attacks and stabs the wherewolf in the chest but misses the heart. The hunter hunter curses at himself.

Damm it David, you damm klutz

The werewolf growls and pushes the hunter onto the ground and gnaws at the hunter's shoulder causing him to scream out in agony.

Suddenly a bullet is fired at the beast, landing at it's eye. The werewolf and the hunter look to the origin of the bullet and see Rachel quivering as she held out a pistol with her left hand.

"PERISH FOUL CREATURE!" Commander Rachel screams out. "LEAVE THE YOUNG LAD!"

The werewolf claws at the young hunter's face before charging towards Rachel. Commander Rachel screams out "Run young lad!" before closing her eyes and accepts her fate as the wherewolf viciously attacks her...

"COMMANDER RACHEL NO!" The young hunter screams out...

...

When suddenly...

...

...a massive greatsword cuts through the wherewolf's body in one single swipe, destroying the entire body of the werewolf including it's heart, killing it instantly...

An armored knight-like man who wields a greatsword appears from the darkness of the night, with him, an eastern woman who wields a bolt action rifle and a cloaked man who uses a bow and arrow.

The armored man looks to Commander Rachel before looking to the young huhuner.

"David?" The armored man called out to the young hunter.

"Fredrick" the young hunter calls out in response.

"Kanako, check up on the commander, Henry, you go and make sure the area is secure" Fredrick ordered the two Black Heart hunters who did as they were told.

Fredrick approaches David who attempts to stand.

"Don't even bother standing up kid" Fredrick says as he pushes David down slightly.

"You're safe now" Fredrick assures David as he assessed David's injuries.

"Fredrick! Commander Rachel is in bad shape! She needs medical attention now!" Kanako says with a great deal of urgency.

"How much time do you think she has?" Fredrick asks.

"20 minutes at best, 10 at least"

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

"That's not enough time for us to carry her back to base camp" Fredrick curses.

Fredrick thinks for a moment before ordering Henry, "Shoot up a flare"

"Why?" Henry asks in confusion.

"The Anomalies may figure out where we are" Henry points out.

"Other hunters are most certainly near, we aren't the only ones hunting tonight, here's to hoping they might have medical supplies"

"Are you sure that's our best option right now?" Kanako asks.

"Either it's this or the Commander dies"

Henry takes out his flare gun and fires a red flare into the sky, a signal for help not only for Black Heart hunters but military and other combat groups aswell.

The group of hunters wait for a few moments when a strange and hideous Anomaly, an indescribable mass that appears to be like a large horse of gruesome flesh with way too many legs appears from the darkness of the night. It's body, covered in the blood of civilians, soldiers and Hunters.

"Fredrick!, we found our target" Kanako says as she prepared herself for a fight.

"It seems so..." Fredrick says as he steps up and gets into a fighting stance, "Stay back kid" he tells David.

The horse beast Anomaly charges towards Fredrick with a visceral scream of rage. Fredrick sidesteps the attack and plunges his greatsword into the beast's chest area causing it to scream into a blinding rage.

"Target it's legs and eyes!" Kanako tells Henry as they fire bullets and arrows onto the beast.

Fredrick and the horse beast engage in a dance of blood and death. Fredrick's moves, heavy yet graceful while the beast was erratic and unpredictable.

The beast wails loudly with rage and viscerally attacks Fredrick with it's countless legs.

Fredrick performs a spinning attack with his greatsword, causing many of the beast's legs to be sliced off. Fredrick watched as the beast fell to the concrete.

What a hideous beast...

The beast screams loudly as it regenerated its legs, it staggered back before attempting to gnaw at Fredrick. In response, Fredrick plunges his greatsword into the beast's head.

The beast pulls away it's head with great speed, Fredrick's greatsword still stuck in it's head.

Damm it, I never thought my greatsword could get stuck in a beast. I suppose today is where I am corrected.

The horse beast smashes it's head onto Fredrick causing him to fly backwards with a great force.

"Fredrick!" David calls out as he attempts to stand up before being pushed down and stopped by Henry.

As Fredrick stands up, the horse beast is pelted with arrows by Henry, causing it to put it's focus on the hunter who wielded a bow and arrow.

The beast attempted to headbutt Henry, Henry dodges the attack and causing the beast's head to plummet into the ground with great force. When it raised it's head again, it's face was bloodied, broken and completely unrecognizable.

"Retreat for now Fredrick!" Henry said with urgency as he unsheathed a silver sword. As Henry charges into the beast, Kanako throws a fire bottle onto the beast causing it to be set ablaze.

The beast screamed with an animalistic rage just as Henry plunged his silver sword into the Anomaly's head, the beast blood gushed out of it's body, much of it ending up on Henry's body.

Disgusting, Henry thought.

Henry jumped back leaving his sword in the beast's head. The beast begun to regenerate its body parts and heal itself, it suddenly began shaking and moving around erratically, hitting itself with the surrounding buildings causing much debris to fly everywhere.

Henry had a moment of clarity and satisfaction:

I knew it, that thing's an equine type Anomaly, just horribly deformed beyond belief. If even single atom sized piece of silver ever reached it's brain, it'll freak out and be unable to fight properly. I wonder how it'll hold up with an entire blade lodged in its brain.

Henry began unsheathed a small silver dagger and began cutting at the beast's already weak legs with his causing the beast to trip and fall.

The beast falls to the ground and rolls around erratically, Henry retreats to a safe distance and waits for a perfect moment to end the beast's life.

"Good one lad" Fredrick remarks.

"David, let Fredrick borrow one of your cane swords" Henry says with an authoritative tone.

"Sure" David says as he lends Fredrick one of his cane swords.

"Where do you think it's heart is?" Fredrick asks.

"Chest most likely", Henry said, wiping the beast's blood off of his face.

Kanako loads a grenade onto the grenade launcher attachment of her bolt action rifle and fires it at the horse beast's neck, causing the beast to lose it's head and stop moving.

Henry and Fredrick charge toward the beast's chest area and hack away until they find it's heart, Fredrick stabs the heart again and again, the beast's blood flowed out of its body onto the concrete. A large part of the street was now covered in blood. And the beast's heart had stopped beating, it had died.

Fredrick approached the head of the head of the dead beast and retrieved his greatsword and Henry's silver sword.

"Here", Fredrick said, throwing the blood soaked silver sword to Henry.

Henry catches the sword and the two hunters stepped away and watched the beast's corpse burn when suddenly a group of 45 soldiers appear along with 5 knights and 15 Black Heart hunters.

"You fellas shot up a red flare?" the captain of the soldiers asks.

"Yes, that's our commander over there is dying, and one of our hunters is injured" Henry points to Commander Rachel and David.

"Cosby and Eren, go check!" the captain orders his medics.

"Yes sir!", the medics said in unison.

The medics analyse the brutalised and bleeding commander aswell as David, the commander's condition had become way worse than a few moments ago.

"Eren, status?"

"Nothing serious, he'll be fine with a good doctor back at base camp"

"Cosby, status?"

"She's in terrible shape, she needs to get medical attention now"

"You think you can save her?" Kanako asks the medic.

"Well yes but I can't with my current circumstances and supplies " the medic responds.

"Why is that?" Fredrick asks

"Well we're hunting this thing down, we're not sure what it is but it killed a team of 20 well trained men, so we need every man we can get" the captain explains.

"Let then stay, we can go instead of them" Fredrick says, bargaining with the captain.

"You think the 3 of you could kill an Anomaly that slaughtered 20 men?", the captain asks

"In a battlefield where Anomalies fight, a single Black Heart hunter is worth 5 soldiers", Fredrick responded with confidence.

The captain smirks thinks for a moment before making a decision.

"Cosby, Joshua, Alan, Mike and Eren, you five stay and make sure the Black Heart hunter commander lives"

"Sir yes sir!" The five men said in unison.

The captain then looked to the burning corpse of the horse beast and with a face of shock and awe, he asks Fredrick: "You did that?"

"Yes indeed"

"Impressive line of work you hunters are in, I'm sure it ain't easy" he says before lending his hand "Captain William Wolfgang, pleased to me ye mister"

Fredrick accepts his hand and shakes it "Fredrick Grant, Black Heart hunter at your service"

"Fredrick!" David called out and interrupted their conversation.

"Hold on a second", Fredrick said.

"Of course"

Fredrick approaches David, "what?"

"Rheanna, she's still out there" David explained.

"What happened to her?"

"There was this thing out there, it chased us down and we got separated, I don't know what that thing is but it's dangerous"

"What attacked you?, did you see?" William Wolfgang interjected.

"Well, I couldn't see it very well, it was dark..." David said with an apologetic tone.

"Just try to describe it, please"

"Well... It was like a humanoid... it was tall I think... and uhh... it had dark skin, incredibly dark skin, to the point it looked like a shadow..."

"That sounds like our target sir" one of the soldiers says.

"What exactly are you folks hhunting"

"An eldritch Anomaly type, danger level 9 or 10, it killed 20 soldiers from a special forces group within a matter of minutes" the soldier explained.

"Do you have any additional details?" Henry interjects.

"Unfortunately no..." William says.

"I see...", Fredrick responded.

"I've faced an eldritch type Anomaly before, so I have experience" Fredrick said.

"Is that so?", William asked in slight disbelief.

"Indeed, I believe I'm the most experienced with dealing Eldritch type Anomalies here"

"Well, thank god", William smirked at Fredrick.

The team of soldiers, hunters and knights perpare themselves for what kind of horror they would face within an hour. Eldritch type Anomalies are infamous for being sadistic beings who will break down and destroy even the strongest of humans.

For even if Humans try...

In the end, none can stand against something so out of this world.
