“State your stakes. Press the letters in the keyboard below.”
A voice, similar to the one he he heard prior to his new life when he was about to die, said.
Maybe it was the same voice, he didn’t know. A voice without emotions was like a doll without decorations, just an ordinary dull doll without any features. And since he couldn't physically see the voice, he couldn’t determine whether or not it was the same voice.
“What is this blasphemy? This has to be the work of sat… Oh, never mind.
*Haha*
“I almost forgot myself there. It’s a bad habit of being such a great actor. Sometimes I forget what’s an act and what’s not an act. And I forgot this was a fantasy world, anything is possible here!”
When he ruled the country of france, religion was one of his best tool to control his country and his citizens with. After all, Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich. With religion, he could say whatever he wanted to and then tell his people, “It was the divine words of our god!”
Even though Napoleon was baptized a Catholic in Ajaccio at the Ajaccio Cathedral. His sentiments toward religion were seemingly contradictory. He had absolute confidence in the non-existence of god. In his belief, all religions were made by man.
Others thought about him to very faithful to god, even his parents thought he was that. He lived through his childhood in the island of Corsica and was his parent’s fourth child and third son. His childhood was very… different.
“They didn’t accept…”He abruptly stopped.
For seconds, his eyes flashed with intense killing intent. It wasn’t the sort of killing intent he displayed when he threatened Howard. It was real pure and flawless killing intent. Gained by truly hating something or someone.
“...Anyway, let’s start by setting the stakes…. Hmm, how about both parties bet all of their monster cards?”
He typed in “All monster cards” in the tablet’s field for “both parties.”
After a couple of seconds, a high pitched *ding* was heard and the same emotionless voice resounded in the space room,“Stake has been accepted by opposite party, do you wish to place more stakes? If no, say no, if yes, say yes.”
Napoleon thought it through for a second, “Let’s not bully the weak too much, right?” He smiled and replied, “No.”
*Ding*
“No further stakes from both parties, duel will now proceed. Map randomly selected.”
“What? Map randomly selected?” Napoleon had no idea what the voice meant.
“Teleportation to starting point in 1...2...3!”
He felt the same feeling he felt when he had arrived here from the plains outside the village and the same sound of particles rubbing against each other. It wasn’t very pleasant.
His vision went black and the sound stopped. Then after a few seconds, the scenery made him speechless.
He was surrounded by flat floating islands. The island were of different climates. Some were warm and had sprouting mini volcanoes, and some were of the frozen tundra up in the north. Some were of the ancient and dry desert, and some were totally submerged in a bubble of water enveloping the whole of the island. It was truly a marvelous sight.
“How can an island float. And how can they… Never mind.”

“Stop asking such stupid questions to yourself. You know it’s a fantasy world. Start acting like you know it!
Napoleon started to pout from his own scolding. Only someone with a truly thick skull could do such things. But well, how could such a brilliant mind be without flaws?
He stood on one of the island. Luckily, it was an ordinary one with grass and not mini volcanoes.
“Lucky me, huh?” He took a breath of relief. If he had been transported onto one of the island submerged with water or one of those with volcanoes on, he would most likely perish quickly.
The voice resounded once more, “Randomly selected map, “Heaven’s paradise of multitude.”
“Heaven’s paradise of multitude? Heaven exists? And come one, this isn’t a paradise…” He immediately began to criticize the voice’s, whatever it was, naming sense.
According to him, there was no such thing as heaven, nor hell. After all, his belief in god was non-existent. And lack of faith in god resulted in the lack of faith in heaven and hell.
“Target, defeat enemy troops. Target location, the island next to yours. Time limit, 2 days.”
Upon hearing the last sentence he exclaimed out loud, “two days?! How is that possible? So for me to challenge all four killers of the former Napoleon, just the duels might take up to eight days?“ He was shocked. A duel’s time limit was 2 days.
“Well well, I’ll just have to finish this quickly I suppose…”
He wondered how long the legendary battles between empires would take. 2 months? 6 months? A year? He had no idea. On the other hand, the battles in his world also took a long time. And there was no casualties except for the loser having to follow the stake set in the start of the game.
But after thinking so far, many questions appeared in his mind.
“Why do they use duels to settle disputes? Why do they wage war with monster cards? How come they don't use their monsters and directly invade their opponent’s lands and kill them before they can react?”
“Tsk. I hate not knowing even the basic things of the world. Former napoleon really lived in a rural village, not even having information about such things…”
Napoleon located the island next to him, it was also an ordinary grass one. “Looks like whatever it is which is controlling this duel thing, heavenly law or whatever, won’t make it too hard by placing on on easy island and right next to each other.”
He saw Howard on the other island. That guy had already begun to do something. Napoleon couldn’t see clearly enough to see what the guy did, even if he squinted his eyes.
After looking around, reckoning and calculating, he could deduce the fact that the hardest thing was to get over to the other island. He had no monster flying beast nor any bridge to walk upon.
He lightly smiled, “Honestly, everything has been too easy up until now, looks like I can finally show the prowess of the most brilliant commander in humankind's history!” He took a step back, and went further in on the grass planet. Except for grass, there was a couple of trees and a lake of water further in.
“Hmm… That may work…” An idea popped up in his mind.
“Well then, let’s begin” He thought to himself before yelling, “Deck!”
