Chapter 2

Alright, let’s check out my status screen, I thought.

“Gah (Status)!” I exclaimed. A blue transparent screen popped up in front of me.

Hmm, I’m sure those stats are not normal for a newborn child. I wonder, can I check the effects of my Titles and Skills? I wondered. I clicked on the Titles with my chubby newborn hand.

These seem helpful. However, I have no idea how I can level up. But maybe I can increase my stats or gain XP through physical activity? I thought. Grunting with effort, I began crawling across the floor. I made it a few feet when I got too tired to continue, but I still kept trying. At that same moment, I received a system message.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

[You have surpassed your physical limits]

[Strength permanently increased by 1]

That’s not too bad. I hope I can get my other stats to increase soon as well, I thought hopefully. Wanting to see if I could raise any of my stats higher, I tried to do more physical activity. Unfortunately, none of it worked and I came to the conclusion that I can only surpass my limits once per day. At that moment, my father came in.

“I hope your mother doesn’t find out what I’m up to,” he muttered. He picked me up and started carrying me out of the room. “I can already tell that you’re gonna grow up to be a big, strong man, just like your father. So, you need to start training at a young age!”

“Ga-gah (I’m only 10 days old)! Gah (stop)!” I cried out. But he just chuckled and smiled.

“Aw, are you that excited to get started? Let’s go then!” He said enthusiastically. The large man took me out of the house and started walking down the street. After several minutes, he stopped in front of a nondescript concrete building. “Let’s go in, Charles. This way, you can meet some of my friends.”

He walked inside and I saw that the building was a training gym of some kind. There were lots of people there practicing fighting and what looked like magic. My father approached an equally large and muscular man standing behind a desk near the door.

“James! I see you’ve finally found time to stop by!” The man at the desk greeted.

“Sorry, Spencer. It’s been a while with my wife having been pregnant and just recently giving birth,” Father replied.

“I understand. I wasn’t able to come for a whole year when my wife was pregnant and giving birth,” Spencer casually replied. “But I see Petunia is letting you bring the little one with you. Or, more likely, she doesn’t know and will kill you if she finds out.”

“But she doesn’t have to find out, now, does she?” Father said. “You don’t even have to mark me down as having been here today. Besides, I actually brought little Charles here to train him! He may only be 10 days old, but he’s a strong boy. Just like me!”

“Yeah, yeah, alright. You know where the training area for young ones is,” Spencer said, waving his hand dismissively. Father nodded and started carrying me to the back of the gym. When he reached the back wall, he opened up a door and took me into another space where kids and teenagers were training.

“Alright, Charles, what should we do first?” He said, looking around the room. “I know, we’ll use the gravity room to help you train your strength and endurance.”

James quickly crossed the space and approached a large spherical structure sitting in one corner of the room. He opened it up and placed on the floor inside. Closing the door behind me, I couldn’t see him but I could hear him.

“Okay, Charles, since you’re still just a baby, I’ll merely put up the gravity to 1.25x Adavantis’ gravity,” Father said. I then heard a humming sound and felt my body growing heavier. While it wasn’t painful, I did feel like I had a large weight pressing down on me.

[You have completed 1.25x gravity training]

[All stats permanently increased by 1]

[You gained 10 XP]

[XP: 10/100]

Wow! I wasn’t expecting this to actually be so helpful, I thought. I wonder if I’ll continue to get stronger if I remain in here for a little longer.

[You have surpassed your physical limits]

[Constitution permanently increased by 1]

Hmm? Why did I get XP suddenly? I wondered. But the system didn’t give any kind of response. However, my father saw how well I seemed to be doing inside the gravity room.

“Aw, is my little guy enjoying it? You seem to be getting stronger already! I’ll just crank it up a little more,” he said. I could feel the weight pressing me down increase, though it wasn’t by too much.

[You have completed 1.5x gravity training]

[All stats permanently increased by 1]

[You have gained 10 XP]

[XP: 20/100]

Yeah! Let’s keep going! This is great! I thought enthusiastically. However, it wasn’t able to last much longer.

“Where is my son?!?!” I heard Mother scream.

“Oh…no,” Father said. I could hear the fear in his voice. “Hello, dear! I, uh, I’m glad to see you up and out of bed!”

“Don’t you think it’d too early to be bringing our NEWBORN son to a place like this?” She asked loudly. James just stammered as he struggled to find a response. Not waiting for his reply, Mother turned off the gravity chamber and opened the door. “Come here, baby, I’m sorry that Daddy put you through all that.”

“Ga-gah (please let me back in)!” I said, reaching for the gravity chamber. Mother’s eyebrow cocked as she glanced between me and the chamber.

“I guess you’re a lot like your father. Maybe I’ll let your father continue to train you, but no more today. Besides, increased gravity can have adverse effects,” she said. Petunia then took me back home, leaving my nervous and dumbfounded father behind.

When he finally got back home, she immediately laid onto him. However, it didn’t last for long and they quickly made up. I smiled, glad to see that I had such loving parents in this life. Struggling to sit up, I managed to lean my disproportionate head against the bars of my crib. Then, using the bars to support me, I stood up. I only managed to balance for a few seconds before falling back over.

[You have stood for the first time]

[All stats permanently increased by 1]

[You have gained 10 XP]

[XP: 30/100]

[You have surpassed your physical limits]

[Agility permanently increased by 1]

Awesome! I’ll be super strong in no time! I thought. Mother then walked over to me, picking me up.

“Are you feeling alright? I’m sure the gravity chamber was a bit much for the stomach of a newborn to handle,” she said. Her eyes glowed slightly green as she looked me over, and her expression became one of surprise. “You seem to be perfectly fine despite experiencing increased gravity at such a young age. I guess your father really did know what he was doing after all.”

Petunia then put me back down in my crib. I stood up and held onto the bars to hold myself up. She clapped and cheered when she saw me standing. Father then came in and cheered even louder seeing me stand. However, he caught me off guard and I fell back over in surprise. Mother glared at him and yelled at him about scaring me.

He really didn’t scare me so much as startle me, but I guess it doesn’t really matter either way, I thought. I shrugged my shoulders as best I could as a baby. Anyway, I’m gonna focus on becoming stronger and raising my level from now on.
