Arising from my deep slumber, I felt refreshed once more, with my Mana reserves being full. The warmness of the sun greeted me, the bushes letting some rays escape into my ‘home’, as I blinked my eyes open. Looked like I was asleep for the whole night. Well, at least I was safe.

I directed my still invisible body to move forward, out of the bushes that were made as my temporary residence. I could see that I had left a round sphere, that was most likely the shape of my body, in the bushes. So I was made of matter and thus had weight. Meaning that I wasn’t just energy that had a consciousness. Had to experiment on this in the future to make any conclusions. I wondered what I looked like if I wasn’t invisible…

Anyways, I had a thrilling day ahead of me. I was going to test out a new skill. Possession! By now I had accepted the fact that I wasn’t back at home and had no recollections of the past. I was pretty sure I didn’t have a skill list nor a class before, so this was definitely much, much cooler. And I was a ghost for god’s sake! I was invisible, could pass through walls, fire projectiles made of energy and even possess beings. If I had a sufficient amount of Mana of course.

There were so many things I could do now. If there were humans in this world, I could have had so much fun. Muahaha.

Anyhow, I decided to activate my skill, [Intangibility], to pass through the bushes with ease, now not having to wrestle with the branches that hid me away from the rest of the world. When I emerged into the air, I deactivated the skill to not waste more Mana and began to look around.

The forest looked pretty much the same as it had yesterday, no predators had set up traps to catch me. I was still safe…for now. Phew. Oh and I defeated an owl yesterday!

Reflecting on yesterday’s events, I moved to the place where the owl had been knocked out. It took me a while, since it was dark yesterday and I had ventured away from the owl, but eventually I arrived at a not-so-nice scene.

The owls wings were not placed correctly and there was a pool of what looked like blood. Gulp. But luckily, I didn’t have to look at its eyes as it’s back was towards me. I already felt guilty enough.

Where did that come from? I didn’t want to eat the owl. Eww.

Perhaps the whole class and skill concept was slightly changing my personality? Well no matter, it’s not like someone from my previous life would suddenly pop up here and accuse me of it …right?

I hovered over to the owl, trying to distract myself. To my surprise, no other creature had come over to feast on it, there were no flies as well? I cautiously approached the body and took a look at it.

Know Things

A new skill, nice!! It’s always fun to get a new skill.

I activated the skill excitedly, wondering what the effects might be. Know things sounded very vague and could mean several different things. I was quite curious about what the skill did. Perhaps it could tell me of the future? That would have been cool.

Nothing seemed to happen at first, but when I examined the owl, a notification popped up in front of me.

Ah, so that’s appraisal. I can…know things. Perhaps when I level up the skill, it can tell me more information? No future seeing for me yet.

I called up my status panel thing, just to see what I had already.

Ooo…I had so many skills now. So I was stronger than when I first woke up in this world. Woohoo!

My joy skyrocketed as I thought of the fact that I would get today I would get to try out the skill I had been anticipating to use. Possession! I wanted to find a good host though, make it more exhilarating. So I began making my journey through the forest, humming songs to myself and exploring the things I could do with my skills. I did it on the minimum though, wouldn’t want to waste mana before the grand event!

To pass time, I tried to work with [Basic Mana Manipulation], trying to create different things, not just a [Mana Blast] like I had yesterday. I concentrated hard and eventually, the all mighty and generous system had awarded me with an upgrade.

At that moment, I could make a few shapes like triangles and rectangles from thin air. Pretty great achievement if you ask me.

And so experimenting with Mana Manipulation some more, using appraisal and sometimes Intangibility, I continued on my way. Looking for an intelligible life form.
