Chapter 9: The Guild

"Hey gappy, how is my future slave going?" Kalrusht sneered as he appeared in the border realm between the modern world and G^¢s;#yo, where the gap youkai, Y#£a#), lives.

Only to see her asleep midair in a position that would make most think she's sleeping on an invisible bed. Kalrusht sighs and snaps his fingers to wake her up. It didn't work, so he resorted to fire magic as fire suddenly appeared mere inches under her body.

She wakes up normally and a gap appears under her to consume the floating flames as she started mumbling.

"R£&... I said wake me up in a few weeks..." She mumbled.

"Having hallucinations heh, spirit?"

The youkai's eyes widened as she realizes who is speaking to her but quickly recovered. "What do you want?" She spoke in a voice that says that Kalrusht wasn't invited.

"I want to check on what you promised, gappy."

"Now, who allowed you to call me that?" She retorts, getting more annoyed.

"As long as you're in my debt, I can call you anything, sour candy."

The youkai shivered from annoyance, which only happens once in decades, making this quite a feat for Kalrusht to do.

That fucking demon. Wait until I stab him with his own horns or freeze him in space. On second thought, he's in my dimension. I can do anything with him. Although, I'm not one to break promises. Maybe I should flood his not-so-humble abode with the coldest liquid there is. He won't be so happy now, won't h-

*knock* *knock* "Hello gappy's head, I would advise you to focus back to real life, please."

The youkai wouldn't take any more of this. She used her Japanese-style fan to slap Kalrusht's face. "That's my line, demon."

He chuckled, "Now, back to what I came here for, how is my future slave?"

"You know, checking on him yourself should save a lot of time."

Kalrusht huffs, "Yes, but I would not show myself to that world of mortals unless necessary."

"Trust me when I say you're no more immortal than a human walking across a street," the youkai giggled.

The demon's mood dropped and he frowned, "I never die, you thought you killed me once, but I'm still here, correct?"

Y#£a#) giggled more this time, "I can see through anything, cherry. I know you can run out of your self-resurrection energy. And by then, you will die. Isn't immortality the ability to not die for eternity?"

Kalrusht (somehow)paled, "H-how'd y-"

"Don't mind that now, here, you wanted to check on him." The youkai said as she threw the orb at the demon's face, only for him to catch it.

"Aaah... Aaa? Why did you make him a lesser dragon!? There are a shit load of stronger creatures there!"

"That's where you are partly wrong, Kal. In terms of strength, size and intelligence, yes, there are a lot of stronger creatures out there. But, you wouldn't know, but there is something special about lesser dragons. They have the affinities of all elemental magic. They just can't use it because they're dumb. Lesser dragons and greater dragons most probably got affected by similar amounts of dream energy, but got affected in different ways."

Kalrusht's eyes widened, "If that is true, then you are a wise partner, partner."

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Hey~ we're acquaintances for now. But don't be surprised if I try to kill you after this."

Kalrusht brushed the comment away as his attention shifted to the orb. "Aaah... He is training fire magic, is he? What's his name?"

"He was Barry in his past life but has adopted the name Troy for his current one."

"Troy? Troy... I like how it stays on your tongue for a second longer." Kalrusht mumbles as he gets lost in his thoughts again. "You know, I thought I would have to train him to be as strong as I want him to be. But he is training himself out of curiosity and lust for power. Our candidate is the perfect one. And the magic he chose is destructive too..."

Kalrusht then hands back the orb and left with a portal.

Y#£a#) then shakes her head. Wow, no farewells or nothing. Oh, he is gonna get the spanking soon.

She then turns off the orb. Curiosity? Yes, but I don't think the lust for power is what Troy has. And of course, he chose fire. Most dragon mythologies depict them using fire.

Before going back to sleep she thought, Good luck out there Troy. I'll be watching you.

================================

*various fire magic onomatopoeia*

*crrkrrk*

Eh?

*rocks fall from cave ceiling*

HOLY SHIT

*pant* *pant*

WHY'D THE ROCKS FA- *sigh*, no. I should be grateful that this cave could even withstand all the magic I did.

I'm in the cave where I was hatched. My dragon parents' bodies are gone so I can train my fire magic with more moves I found in the magic book, which is protected in the same crack on the wall of the cave where I hatched.

I have a ridiculously high level of imagination that could be used now, where I can visualize/imagine various foes trying to attack me. Of course, that means I'm hitting nothing but the cave walls, which then led to the rocks falling down.

Hmmm, I wonder what I can do now?

.

.

.

Oh! Don't they have a guild or an arena in town or something? Maybe I can watch and learn from them.

And off he goes back to the city and after a few minutes, he found the aforementioned guild due to memorising the map in Besley's room. It was in the middle of the city.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WOW, THIS IS INSANE!
I've been in the arena part of the guild and...
WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE SICK MOVES THOUGH! That guy used water magic to blind the other and limit their moves and used fire magic for offense? Why would you use opposite elements anyway? I think he's a full-on mage.
And then the other guy used only earth magic but is skillful with a sword so he's both a close range attacker, which is not too comfortable for a mage to deal with so they were kind of level.
They both were level, the mage using water magic to protect himself in different ways and the swordsman using earth magic as projectiles and shields while trying to hit at the mage with the sword.
Well... Until suddenly, the second person used his earth magic to manipulate the ground and launches himself over the mage. The mage shot a fire bullet up but missed, allowing the swordsman to position his sword next to the mage's neck, ending the battle with a win.
Hmmm... I wonder if I can do anything else other than fire magic. But lesser dragons can only have one affinity... Right?
That's when I tried to do all the things the two did with water and earth. Found out that I can manipulate the earth a bit, but I can't make rocks appear out of thin air. Same with water. i couldn't just make it appear, but I can move water from a puddle I found.
Heh, I just need to control air or wind and I'll be the avatar or something. Wait a minute...
I then tried to control wind and blow it to myself, and it did.
But what if that's not me? Let me try something else.
It required more effort, but I controlled some wind through the trees, creating a trail of leaves following behind it.
Awesome...
I decided to visit the guild again, but this time, I visited different parts of it and found a poster containing all the strength classes.
-Harmless: Monsters that generally wouldn't cause any harm or destruction(Tier 0).
- Threatless: Monsters that can be defeated by normal civilians. (Tier I)
- Beginner: Monsters that can be defeated by newly trained adventurers. (Tier II)
- Experienced: Monsters that can be defeated by a trained knight. (Tier III)
- Intermediate: Monsters that require at least 5 knights to defeat. (Tier IV)
- Challenging: Monsters that requires a small group of veteran adventurers to defeat. (Tier V)
- Advanced: A monster that can destroy a village. (Tier VI)
- Extreme: A monster that might require an army to exterminate. (Tier VII)
- Treacherous: A monster that requires all the resources of a small country to take care of. (Tier VIII)
- Destructive: A small nation would have no chance against it and a bigger nation would have to make use of all their resources to take care of it. Newly born demon lords are normally at this level. (Tier IX)
- Cataclysmic: A true beast that would require all of humanity to suppress. (Tier X)
I wonder what level I am on? I mean, most of my kind would be at the experienced level when they are fully grown, but I got quite the number of affinities and I'm smarter than they are. So maybe I'm higher?
There was also a counter next to that poster with the label "quests". People go there to accept jobs to get rid of monster problems... I think?
*angy stomach growls*
O shit, I need to eat.
