Chapter 13: Meeting The Mother

My first thought which I said out loud was: "It's purple?! I thought there were no purple dragons! Why didn't any of you tell me that he's purple?!"

"Wait, daddy didn't tell you? DAAD!" Besley complained.

Gracius chuckled, "It was a surprise. I knew it would give you a shock, and you look cute when shocked."

"Can't say I disagree," Besley joined in.

I was about to complain about them wanting me to get surprised all the time, but I then noticed Troy's gaze on me.

His slitted yellow eyes are uniquely mesmerizing. That's also when I noticed that he also had silver in his colour scheme, which had my interest grow even more.

As I stretched a hand in Troy's direction and gestured it to come, I saw more detail. The eyes tell me of both innocence and cheekiness, something I don't normally see in animals. I also see loyalty and... Intelligence. More intelligence than I thought possible showing from an animal's eyes.

The horns aren't fully developed, being dull at the ends, but are still quite long. The tail starts getting thinner but ends in a triangle-like shape. Last but not least, his purple and sliver scales are clean, shining more than I thought any living being's skin covering could. In conclusion, I think Troy is quite the beauty and is cute.

"He is quite cute isn't he?" I said.

Besley nodded but Gracius said, "No, I don't think so. I don't like the eyes. They give me the chills."

"Yeah, yeah. Most people would judge others by their full looks. But not you, noooo. You only judge people by their eyes," I mocked him.

"Dear, if I didn't do that, I wouldn't be married to you."

I was shocked to say the least and a tiny bit offended that he said that without hesitation. Besley burst out laughing.

"Shut up, you two!"

I didn't even notice that the dragon was next to me. So when it suddenly rubbed my still-outstretched hand, I involuntarily let out a small "Ah!" And flinched, scaring Troy off a few steps.

"Oh dear, I'm sorry, I didn't know you were that close."

I outstretched my hand again so he could get more comfortable with me again.

I thought he would back away a few steps due to my previous reaction to his contact. But that did not happen.

To my and everyone else's surprise, it got closer and jumped up to my lap, making me breath out for a second, and laid down, looking relaxed.

Everyone just stared at Troy in shock for a few seconds, making it tense up a bit under the attention. Until Gracius started laughing.

"Now it's confirmed. There's something that goes on with you and animals."

My son then accused me of using taboo magic to become a magnet to all the animals.

We both laughed as I started to pet Troy.

================================

I came into the room, and out of nowhere, all the eyes have been directed to me. I have never liked continuous attention, and this is unnerving both my mind and my instincts.

Although, a pair of eyes are new. The woman who is quite tall. Something was stuck in her mind until she shouted out, "It's purple?! I thought there were no purple dragons! Why didn't any of you tell me that he's purple?!"

If I knew how to do it, I would've snickered. Everyone who saw me is like that now. Everytime I pass people who never saw me, they would start whispering and such. I feel like an outcast because of that. Well, I am not human...

Me and Besley's mother then had eye contact, and she visibly relaxed. And she called me cute. I already like her. And something else about her seems to exude an aura that makes me quite comfortable around her.

She then outstretched her hand towards me. So of course, I started approaching, happy that she is open towards me.

They had a little conversation while I was trotting over, and I nearly cracked when Lord Gracius said "Dear, if I didn't do that, I wouldn't be married to you." But I managed to just let out a snort.

I then nuzzled her hand, but then backed away by reflex when she quickly pulled back her hand and gasped.

"Oh dear, I'm sorry, I didn't know you were that close."

Well, it was my fault I touched her when she wasn't looking, but apology accepted.

I decided to amuse them by laying down on her lap.

Heh, I love their reactions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That evening, Lord Gracius invited Professor Damian and Fulimos for dinner to celebrate the return of Lady Anna.
They were like children again. Mocking, elbowing each other, throwing bad jokes at each other. Sometimes even threatening to throw food. Seriously not what I expected from all these adults. Knights, royals, librarians--even they still have some youth in them. I think that youthfulness is what makes life fun and the challenges enjoyable in life.
Even the staff serving and guarding around the room sometimes can't manage stifle in a laugh.
"Laugh! Laugh all you want! This is a good day! Don't try to hold your joy!" Lord Gracius addressed them when he noticed they started laughing. Ever since then, they were more comfortable with laughing.
Besley went up early after his dinner. I did notice that he isn't the type of person who enjoys noise, so he would enjoy his time better in his room. Maybe he'll sleep.
Me? I'm just laying down on the corner of the dining room. Don't mind me~
An hour afterwards, they parted ways. I noticed Professor Damian giving me a weird look before leaving the room. What's up with that?
