Chapter 3: Jedi School

Rolg and I said our farewells to our parents and friends. You would think we would have been sad but we were still young and the only connections to Oblarth we had were our parents. The “friends” we had were only playmates to us. We knew as long as we had each other, we would be ok. Excited for the journey ahead of us, we packed our belongings. Our village had a small ceremony for us. Apparently children that were born in tune with the force were about 1000 per year throughout the whole universe and only half of them are found. And then another half are taken by the dark side. So every year there were only about 250 jedi trainees that join the school each year. It was a rare event when two force-sensitives were found on a single planet.

“We should hurry” said Anoon, “We need to get to the academy by tomorrow. It won’t take a day to get there, but I don’t want to take any chances.”

“You’ve both grown up so fast!” Serena (Mom) was crying again, “Oh, honey we can’t let them go. They’re only 9!”

With a great sigh Simon(dad) replied, “Yes he is… But he will be with many other jedi knights and masters at the academy. He will be more safe at the academy than staying here with us. Son, there were many things that I wanted to teach you in life, but it seems you are to travel your own path now. Just remember one thing, Your mother and I love you with all our hearts. You will always have a home here with us.”

With tears streaming down our eyes we said our final goodbyes.

“Here is a little present from the village. It’s not much, but use it to have some fun at the academy.” My dad said this as he hand me and Rolg 2 bags of money.

One last hug and we entered the Jedi transport.

“Buckle-up boys. Interstellar space travel can be a bit uncomfortable at first”, Anoon advised. He began to speak into a transmitter “All systems are a Go! This is Master Anoon reporting in. I’m departing from Oblarth with two padawans. Arrival in 5 hours.”

---5 hours later---

I’m pretty sure that Rolg and I threw up enough to stink up the transport for a few weeks.

“I think I’m going to die”, Rolg ran out of the ship and hugged a huge rock. “I never would have guessed I would had missed the ground so much.”

Anoon looked a bit irritated, “My ship! It’s going to take forever to clean this out” *Sigh

“Alright boys welcome to the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. We will have to stop by the lab first and then I will take you to the Induction Ceremony”

We walked up to what looked to be a mini hospital.

“You’ll have to do some confirmatory tests in order to gauge your potential”, said Anoon. “It will only take a second so come back out here when you’re done.”

“Yes sir!” Rolg and I exclaimed

We quickly took another Midi-chlorian test and got our results. I had a count of around 20,000 while Rolg had about the same. We showed Anoon our results.

“So my Midi-chlorian counter wasn’t bugged. Come a bit closer you two.” Anoon motioned us to come closer to him. He started to whisper, “Your Midi-chlorian counts are some of the highest in the history of jedi. It basically means you guys are really powerful. This makes it even more important for you to finish your training here. I’ve heard parts of planets being destroyed by untrained force sensitives with lower counts than yours. Also make sure to keep your counts a secret. Don’t want to stir up any trouble with other jealous padawans. Other than that, I will be the master in charge of your training but we will only meet in the afternoon. You will be taking classes with the other first year trainees in the morning, understand?”

We nodded our heads

“Good, the induction ceremony is going to take place soon, let’s go”

---At the Induction Ceremony---

We sat down somewhere in the middle of the crowd of trainees. Anoon had gone up to sit with the other masters and said that he would meet up with us later. All of a sudden, a figure with 4 hands approaches the stage from the side.

“Welcome to the Jedi Academy for Padawans! It is my personal honor as head of the Jedi Academy to induct this year’s padawans into the school. For those that do not know who I am, I am your very own President Loi. Throughout your training you will face many hardships. My advice to you is to trust in the Force. As you learn more about the Force, let it guide you. Learn the Jedi code:

After the President said the Jedi code, I got a random notice:

After the ceremony ended, all the students were herded into their dormitories. Fortunately, I found out that Rolg and I would be placed in the same room. As we both walked into our rooms, we couldn’t help but be amazed at the quality of comfort we would be living in.

The room was white and circular with two indentations in the walls that were our beds. Although the room itself wasn’t particularly big, it was still a huge upgrade compared to our village rooms. Back in the village beds were all straw and no one had a pillow, here we had both a bed and pillows that were made of some kind of fluffy material.

We were standing with our eyes and mouths wide open when Anoon came to visit.

“I see you like your rooms”, he said with a grin. “Well, it is an upgrade from the straw beds back on your home world isn’t it. HAHAHA! Anyways, go to sleep soon I understand you must be excited but class starts bright and early tomorrow at the 7th hour. After your classes, Come and meet me at the outdoor training center behind the dormitories. I’ll be at the far field. Goodnight, I’ll see you both tomorrow.” He waved as he left the room.

“Yes Master Annon.”, We said.

“What are you going to do? I think I might explore a little bit.”, Rolg said.

“Mmm, I think I’ll just sit this one out.” I said

“Man, you’re no fun”

“Haha! No I’m funner* than you!

“Whatever I’ll see you later loser.” Rolg stuck his tongue out

We did our signature bro hug and he left.

I had a lot to think about. All this was a lot to take in for a day. From leaving my home planet, my first space ride, finding out I could potentially be one of the strongest Jedi in the world, to classes starting the next day could make a kid’s head spin.

I climbed into my bed and started to meditate, but soon I began to enter a deep sleep.

---Master Annon’s POV---

The kids were incredible. They had already been able to interact with the Force. Most padawans usually started working with the Force at during their 3rd or 4th year of academy life, but they have been using it since the age of 3! The Jedi Order hasn’t seen that kind of raw talent in decades AND there were two of them. No wonder those two are drawn to each other. I’ll have to watch over the little human though. Although it is almost undetectable, I sense that the boy has a little of the dark side in him. I would consider that I was imagining things but the fact that he used force lightning is proof. I should test them tomorrow to make sure they aren't hiding anything else.

*I realize funner is grammatically wrong, trying to make it sound more kidish

-Idk but making 9 year olds sound like 9 year olds is hard…

*I’m sure there are other multiple grammatical mistakes, just point them out. I’ll fix them… maybe

*Too slow, too fast? Am I fine? Someone mentioned that I was time skipping to much.

*I was reading the comments and honestly I wanted to spill the beans and tell you guys where I wanted to take this story, but then I felt like I would spoil the story.

*Is it still too short? I think this is a decent length, maybe?
