"Arghh!" Zinc raged as he stomped on the pieces of eggshells scattered about on the stone-cold floor.
What was going on? Why was his luck so bad today? Zinc looked at the dead body and sighed. He took out his Amputation Knife again out of habit...since he did this so many freaking times now! With quick work, he dismantled the body and removed the poisonous sac. Zinc mixed the poisonous fluids with what was left over in the rotect jar and moved towards the last egg.
As he waited for the egg to hatch, he continued to ponder on what suitable, alternate methods he should take to ensure that the last Chaurus would survive. He knew that he couldn't dilute the poisonous mixture as it would only serve to contaminate the poison. Drying it would not only not weaken the effects but significantly increase the intensity of the poison. While he wondered, he checked the egg once more. Strange.... Usually the egg would have hatched by now like the others, but somehow, this one hasn't. Was it dead?

Zinc placed his palm on top of the egg and closed his eyes to concentrate. Hmm...it was faint but he could hear a heartbeat. Nine times out of ten, this was a recently produced egg. The Chaurus inside was still a fetus. It had not formed into a proper Chaurus yet. Zinc knew that the fetus would be too weak to handle the poison...but then again, with all the nutrients packed inside with the fetus, maybe...just maybe it could act as a barrier and provide immunity to the poison.
"Fuck it." Zinc cursed under his breath. He was going to do something else.
Zinc reached for his utility belt and pulled out an acupuncture needle. With a couple of quick and precise stabs, the doctor pierced the egg at seven different points. With holes so small that only a dribble of fetal fluids flow out, Zinc submerged the egg into the rotect jar. The poison dyed the egg purplish green and some even flowed into the egg. That's right. Instead of making a powerful Chaurus, Zinc decided to make an extremely poisonous material for medicine making later.
