Chapter 8: The Goblin's Demise and a Guild's Oversight

Throughout his life, Ichirou has been in pursuit of a purpose, although an unknown one. As he draws nearer to his destination, questions about his life's purpose arise. Is his mission to safeguard his sister, or is he fleeing his past failures, seeking solace and redemption?

As he admired the flower, he noticed its striking resemblance to the poster. Even though the poster was in black and white, it specified that the flower should be white and yellow. Determined to collect all the flowers that matched the description, Ichirou went to find every white and yellow flower he could.

Each flower was worth half a bronze coin, reflecting their ease of discovery. After collecting 25 flowers, it makes up a total of 12 bronze coins. While this may seem like a modest sum, he was content with the outcome. His primary goal was to rank up, and money was of secondary importance. At present, he possessed only two silver coins.

Ichirou embarked on his usual journey to the Kingdom, intent on trading his beautiful flowers. As he walked, he encountered an unexpected interruption - not from a fellow human but a mythical creature: a goblin! Ichirou was astounded, for this was his first encounter with such a being. The goblin's green skin and enormous ears left him in disbelief.

Suddenly, Ichirou noticed something peculiar - blood seeping from the goblin's ears. It was evident that the goblin had recently escaped a fierce battle. However, its demeanor did not exude friendliness, and it appeared poised to attack. Swiftly, the goblin lunged at Ichirou. Yet, thanks to his rigorous training, Ichirou responded with agility. He executed a front flip, gracefully leaping into the air. With determination in his eyes, he reached out and placed his hand upon the goblin's slender shoulder.

The tension rose, what was Ichirou planning… As he is falling he screams **Electric: Shock**. In an instant, electricity crackles and sparks from Ichirou's hands, coursing through the air like a living beast. The bolts of lightning dance and weave, guided by his will, ready to unleash their fury upon his unsuspecting target.

After using his elemental power and leaving the goblin completely disoriented, Ichirou swiftly drew his sword and decapitated the creature. His training in elemental control had paid off, even though its primary purpose was to stun opponents. However, Ichirou realized that he could creatively utilize this ability to gain an advantage in combat.

In a sudden turn of events, a figure descended from the sky, landing gracefully on the ground while letting out a triumphant yell. Puzzled, a nearby person noticed the goblin's lifeless body and approached the figure, who held a blood-stained sword.

"Did you slay the goblin?" the person asked.

"Indeed, I did, but I must depart now," replied Ichirou.

"Hold on, you can claim a reward for your deed," the person said.

"A reward?" Ichirou questioned, intrigued.

"Oh, you must be new around here," the person explained. "You can exchange the goblin's ear for coins and gain experience to advance your adventurer's rank."

Ichirou was amazed by this revelation. "I had no idea," he exclaimed.

"Hmm, it seems you have not received your guild's manual," the person observed.

"That's right, Olivia never mentioned it," Ichirou said, referring to a person he knew.

"Ah, Olivia may appear charming, but she can be forgetful. If you return to the guild, please ask her for the adventurer's guild's manual," the person advised.

Ichirou expressed his gratitude and took the goblin's ear. Eager to claim his reward, he embarked on a return journey to the guild.

After arriving at the Aquoria guild, Ichirou approached the receptionist, Olivia, and presented her with the twelve flowers and a goblin ear. Olivia was astonished to learn that Ichirou had slain a goblin on his first day, leaving her speechless. Looking at him intently, Olivia inquired, "How did you manage to accomplish such a feat?"

Ichirou hesitantly replied, "Oh, I used my... I mean, my sword." He almost slipped and said "element."

"Wow, your sword must be exceptional," Olivia remarked in amazement.

"My sister gifted it to me. It holds great sentimental value for me," he said with a smile.

Olivia took his items and instructed him to wait while she verified the goblin's demise using a technique. Upon her return, she presented him with fifty bronze coins. Olivia explained that anyone who successfully kills a goblin for the first time receives a bonus, which is why he received fifty coins instead of the usual ten bronze coins per goblin. Additionally, he received twelve extra coins for the flowers.

Ichirou was grateful for the unexpected bonus but quickly remembered to ask Olivia about the adventurer guild’s manual. Olivia appeared flustered and hastily retrieved them.

"Here they are. How could I forget?" she said as she placed a ball of shimmering light on the table.

"What is this?" Ichirou inquired.

"You need to link this shining ball to your wisdom eye," Olivia replied.

Ichirou was bewildered as he had never heard of the term "wisdom eye."

"What is that?" he asked.

"You don't know what that is? You're quite behind. It's the first step toward becoming a guild adventurer," Olivia explained.

"I had no idea. How do I obtain this wisdom eye?" Ichirou asked.

Olivia explained that he needed to visit a wisdom eye statue in any kingdom and interact with it to obtain it. Ichirou asked for directions, and Olivia happily provided them, explaining how to reach the Aquoria statue.

Ichirou was fascinated by the Wisdom Eye, and Olivia was glad he had asked about it. She told him that many years ago, a man created the Wisdom Eye using a mythical element that was considered impossible to obtain. This man had somehow acquired this element and was soon sought after by many kingdoms and clans. However, he foresaw his own death approaching. Before he died, he created the Wisdom Eye, which allows people to see what he called "statistics." He then took his own life, unable to escape his fate.

He left behind statues that granted the power to obtain the Wisdom Eye. Many kingdoms sought out these statues and successfully claimed them. Thanks to this man's creation, people can now see "statistics" about themselves. To this day, people continue to search for that mythical element, even though its name remains unknown.

Ichirou thanked Olivia for her help and information. He then inquired about a tavern, and Olivia recommended one that offered a comfortable experience at an affordable price. After thanking Olivia for her assistance, Ichirou decided to head to the statue the following day and rest for the night.

Arriving at the tavern, Ichirou was greeted warmly by the friendly staff. He made his way to his room and immediately noticed the superior quality of the bed compared to his previous accommodation. Despite the slightly higher cost, he found it to be well worth the extra comfort.
