Reborn as a Plant
Lizard People

Lizard People

"Let's calm down now." The plant thought to himself to help calm himself down, but he just kept thinking about the situation he was in.

Calming down was nearly impossible. He just discovered he was a plant, for god's sake. While he was busy thinking about his situation, he wasn't aware of the human-shaped shadows slowly approaching him.

After he just managed to calm down, he heard a strange, childish voice behind him.

"Look at what I found!" the strange childish voice said, filled with excitement.

His mind could barely be in surprise anymore after what just happened, so he looked around him sort of casually. There were two strange-looking people. Both of them looked like humanoid lizards and had tails. One was obviously a child, and the other looked like a young adult, most likely the parent or guardian. From the style of their clothes, it looked like they were from some old tribe.

"Who are they, and why are they here?" the plant thought.

"Can I keep it?" the child said with puppy-dog eyes.

"Sure, but you have to promise to take care of it," the adult said with a sigh.

Soon after the adult said that, they shoved their scale-covered hands into the dirt around me and started to dig me out.

"Should I be panicking, happy, or both?" the plant thought.

He didn't know because one of his worries while he was having a mental breakdown was how he was going to move. He thought he was going to stay in one place and be bored to death. On the other hand, he was panicking because he was about to be in the hands of a child.

"Here you go," the adult said while handing me to the child.

"Thank you," the child said, all happy and full of joy.

Being dug up was not pleasant for him at all. He wasn't in pain but was extremely uncomfortable, to the point where it can be thought of as a type of pain. Although just being dug up didn't cause too much of an uncomfortable feeling, what was mainly making him uncomfortable was the fact that he instinctively knew they had damaged a part of his roots.

"Oh, hang on," the adult said nervously, taking me from the child's hands.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

The child obviously didn't look happy and was pouting a bit, but they knew what they were going to do since they themselves saw that the roots were a bit damaged. The adult lizard closed their eyes for a few seconds, and a faint gold light could be seen from their hand slowly getting brighter.

As the light became brighter, he felt warm, and the uncomfortable feeling was slowly turning into a comfortable one. From his instincts, he knew and felt that the damaged parts of his roots were slowly getting repaired. He was surprised when a gold light healed him.

"It's all done," the adult said with a proud smile.

"Woah," the child said in awe. Even though they had seen it a few times before, the light and its effects were amazing.

"What are you going to name it?"

"Jade," the child said with the biggest smile I've seen.

An hour later, the two lizard people are making their way back home through a damp forest with Jade in the child's hands.

"Do you know what kind of plant this is?" the child asked, obviously in a good mood.

When the child said that Jade himself thought about it. At the moment, he looked like most plants that had just sprouted from the ground.

"I don't know, but you better hope it isn't anything poisonous or dangerous," the adult said jokingly, which made the child a bit sad.

"Even if it's dangerous, I'll still take care of it," the child replied with confidence.

From the conversations they had, Jade figured out both of them are girls, and the child's name is Polly while the adult's is Nora.

A few conversations later, they arrived at a small village. The houses were made out of sticks, straw, and leaves. There are other lizard people too—no more than a few dozen, though.

It seemed Nora was well known in the small village because practically everyone was greeting her politely as she and Polly walked home. Once they arrived at the front door of their home, a male lizard person tapped on Nora's shoulder and requested to speak to her.

"One moment," Nora said before entering the house and coming back moments later with a medium-sized, dark brown pot big enough for a small tree.

"Find some good-quality soil and put it in this pot for Jade." Nora said to Polly

"Another meeting?" Polly asked.

"Yes, but don't worry, I'll be back before you know it."

As Nora walked away with the other person, Polly watched her and the other person get further and further away until they took a turn and disappeared from sight.

"Well, I guess it's just me and Jade till Nora gets back."

From her voice, I could tell she was a bit sad that Nora had left.

Polly carefully set me down on the ground, then started collecting soil with her hands to put in the pot. It took her about 45 minutes to get enough soil into the pot with her small hands. She then dug a small hole in the middle, carefully put me in it, and filled the hole back up around me so I would stay up correctly.

Polly wiped the sweat off her small head and praised herself for her hard work while I got comfortable with this new soil. The soil was actually far more comfortable than the soil in the place I was before. That or I'm just happy to be back in the soil without all the movement from the journey here. While Polly was still praising herself, I heard screaming. A few moments later, Polly noticed it herself and made a curious and worried face. A few more moments after that, a few explosions occurred.

Polly looked around and saw that the small, peaceful village was under attack.
