Chapter 69: Thyra

In a distant corner of the vast sea, a colossal island loomed on the horizon. Yet what's inside is hidden by a towering, imposing black iron wall that encircles the entire landmass, leaving no part of it exposed to the outside world.

The iron wall was unlike any ordinary structure. It stood tall, stretching high into the sky and extending deep into the very edge of the island, preventing anyone from attempting to climb onto the island.

At the far northern edge of the island, stood a formidable fortress built from the same black iron mixed with stone.

Step. Step.

Footsteps echoed down a dimly lit corridor within the fortress, as a woman in a black and white maid's attire moved with unwavering confidence. Reaching a giant metal door, the maid closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, relaxing her body.

Knock. Knock.

She knocked on the door and immediately after that she dashed to the side and took cover at the door's edge.

FUSHHH!....BOOM!

The door swung open, and a two-handed axe hurtled from within with a great force leaving a mark on the wall.

Sigh.

The maid sighed, gazing at the impaled axe on the wall, she also scanned the wall noticing similar marks on it.

'Sigh…More work fixing this wall..Sigh I need a vacation'

Adjusting her outfit she entered the room. Without waiting for permission or anything.

Inside was probably one of the most basic rooms that you can find in any castle. The room was huge with a simple wardrobe, desk, and a tall mirror on the side. Only the bed was somehow expensive. It was a king-sized bed, however the decorations were also simple.

The only thing that's off about this room was. Weapons. A vast array of weapons, each with its unique shape and style, adorning all four walls.

"My Lady, I apologize for disturbing your sleep, but you have an urgent call." the maid bowed upon entering the room.

"Hmmm?..." A woman was sitting on the floor with her back leaning against the bed. Slowly opening her eyes, she gazed at the maid with evident annoyance.

"I made it clear not to disturb me unless it's of utmost importance," she stated, her voice commanding and slightly irate.

"I apologize, my Lady, but it's one of the orbs" the maid explained, her tone respectful but firm.

"Which one?"

"The black one," the maid replied.

"I see…" The woman's hostility lessened upon hearing this. Rising from the floor, the woman was a striking figure with an unusual and ethereal white platinum hair cascading down her back, shimmering like moonlight.

Stretching her body the woman glanced at the wardrobe with her piercing blue eye, she walked to it choosing something to cover herself with, since she was completely as she came to this world. Her body was well-defined and toned, filled in the right places, only with training and dedication someone could get a body like hers.

Choosing a shirt, underwear, and pants all in black, the woman approached the mirror.

The maid sighed heavily and she couldn't help but to comment. "Lady Thyra, please wear more colors, you're wasting your charm"

Thyra didn't respond to her and kept gazing at her reflection, more specifically her scars.

Scars adorned her body; most of these scars were a result of battles and weapons. Yet these scars didn't lessen her charm; on the contrary, they gave a unique charm of a warrior.

"Until I have my–…" she stopped, noticing that she almost said something personal about her.

Glancing at the maid's reflection in the mirror, Thyra spoke in a firm and commanding tone.

"Black is the only color for me, I don't want any other color in my clothes, understand?"

"!!!" The maid shivered slightly but bowed. "Understood Lady Thyra"

Pushing the door into a wide office, Thyra walked purposefully toward a wall adorned with an array of orbs.

Taking the black one from the wall, Thyra placed it on her desk, then infused it with a little of her mana. The orb immediately responded, projecting a hologram.

"What took you so long!...I was lonely waiting for you here…Sob..Sob…My sweet Thyra is ignoring me" A woman's voice came from the hologram before the image became clearer.

"Tsk" Thyra clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Ara!...I see you don't want to see me". Soon the hologram took the shape of a woman's face. She had the same hair as Thyra, and even the face was strikingly similar; the only difference was the eye color. This woman had green whereas Thyra had blue.

"You disturbed my sleep. Just say what you want. I'm sure that the queen can't waste her precious time like this."

The queen pouted, blooming her cheek like a squirrel.

"How many times did I tell you, don't call me queen and call me sister."

Thyra snored. "Half sister."

"Still a sister!"

Thyra starts to feel a headache is on the way, every time she talks with her sister it's always like this.

"Anyway, I have something to tell you, Thyra," the queen suddenly changed her tone.

"My daughter was kidnapped."

"!!!" Thyra immediately stood from the chair with a shocked and furious face, but before she said anything, her sister quickly spoke.

"Relax, Thyra, she's safe."

"Who did it?" Anger is boiling inside Thyra.

"Dead. Thyra, they are all dead. What I want to discuss is the man who saved her."

Thyra slowly sat back on the chair and asked her sister.

"What do you mean? You didn't save her?"

The queen sighed and shook her head. "No, we couldn't find her; they hid underground. We're lucky that she was in disguise, and the kidnappers didn't find out her identity."

"Then tell me who saved her?"

The queen responded, "he was a man, he raided the kidnappers' hideout with his group and saved all the missing children, including my daughter."

Thyra contemplated for a moment. "A man…hmm…Do you have any information about this man?"

The queen grinned. "That's the intriguing part, we have no idea who this man is, but we know what he did in the past week or so. I'm sure you'll like hearing this."

"Stop wasting my time and talk. damn it!" Thyra lost her patience. The queen, her sister, always knew how to press the right button to mess with her.

The queen chuckled at Thyra's impatience, knowing how to keep her half-sister on her toes was her joy and stress relief.

"Alright, alright, no need to shout. We believe that this man killed three nobles and the famous Dealer."

"What!?"

"We know at least he killed one Noble, as Valarian saw him. As for the other two and the Dealer, we suspect he was involved, based on connections between the corpses."

"..."

Thyra fell into contemplative silence, processing this startling information. Finally, she asked.

"Were the nobles from your side?"

The queen shook her head. "No, although two of them were from my kingdom, they weren't on my side. You remember them, Adara and William."

The mention of those names made Thyra's expression turn ugly.

"I recall you prevented me from dealing with them in the past."

"Of course I did. I didn't want a repeat of that incident," the queen retorted.

"Incident? I call it cleaning the house," Thyra snored and turned away.

"Is wiping out an entire Noble house, its members, buildings, you even blew up the entire land, you call that housecleaning? Do you have any idea how much trouble you caused? I felt sad for my court for changing hundreds of years of maps just because of you, sister."

Thyra nodded in satisfaction. "Good, let them work and earn their pay, and that noble, he dared to touch me, so death was the only fitting punishment."

The queen's expression softened, knowing well that Thyra did not tolerate anyone touching her, regardless of their status, except for her half-sister to some extent.

"I know Thyra. Let's just forget about that, now back to the topic."

"I want you to meet this man. He didn't just save my daughter, but he also helped me in a way by killing my enemies, he even took care of that dealer that even kingdoms couldn't approach."

Thyra displayed an unpleasant expression. "Why me? You know I hate to travel a lot. Besides, I just came back from the campaign."

"You're the only one I trust with this, Thyra, and you have a keen eye for people. I want to express my gratitude to this man for saving my daughter and establish a positive relationship with him. Can you do this for me, sister?"

Thyra sighed deeply. "Fine, I'll go. Where can I find this man?"

The queen's smile brightened as she appreciated her sister's willingness to cooperate.

"Thank you, sister. You can find him in Larton. Valarian is there with Eva, and he can help you locate this man. Oh, and I almost forgot something important."

Thyra shook her head in defeat. "You're always like this, leaving the important thing for last. Is your kingdom doing well?"

"Shut up! Anyway, Valarian told me that he saw the man protecting Eva and he could touch her without any issues."

"!!!" Thyra immediately stood up, kicking the chair hard.

"Are you sure, sister?"

"Yes, Eva confirmed it. She held his hand, and nothing happened to him."

Thyra's gaze lowered to the desk, her expression one of shock. "Larton, you said?... I'll ride my fastest Wyvern. I'll be there in four days at most."

"Thank you, sister. According to Eva, the man's name is Aron. Find him."

"Aron…Okay, leave it to me"
