Chapter 103: Heroes

PIP. PIP. PIIIIIIIIIIII

At last, I died. It sucks, really, but at least I don't have to suffer anymore.

Hello everyone, my name is Leonardo Morgan or that was my name, a 21-year-old guy from... Well, I don't quite recall anymore.

Well, it doesn't matter anymore, as the lights in my eyes have extinguished. However, I could tell you guys a little bit of how I lived, if that could be called living.

I had a problem with my brain. When I was five or six, I believe, I fell into a coma. The good news is I woke up four years later, bringing joy to my family. Alas, that joy was short-lived because the very next month I fell into a coma again.

No one knew what my problem was, not even the most esteemed doctors in the world. And let me tell you, I was examined by the best of the best. The Morgan Family had plenty of resources to bring those doctors. My father and mother, if I recall correctly, they worked in the oil business.

The only explanation they gave was that my brain was damaged somehow, and in order to save energy for it to work, my brain would shut down the rest of my body, and when the energy reached full, I woke up.

Strange, really. I never heard of a sickness like this. It changed my life completely. Wake up for a month or two, then fall into a coma, only to find years have passed.

Imagine what that would do to a six-year-old boy; the body matured while the mind lagged behind. At least when I was awake, I didn't feel much pain. Unable to move, I found my peace in novels, manga, and anime. And let me tell you, my condition was great for them.

Why, you ask? Simple. Each time I emerged from my coma, my favorite novels, manga, and anime had advanced with new seasons.

Heheh….that's right. No waiting like you normal folks. Yeah, I had fun. It was a painful life, but I created my own happiness inside it. And now it's over.

BUT. Where the hell am I?

I see nothing but darkness. I would normally panic, but I got used to darkness. Sometimes even when I was in a coma, I had some awareness—That was terrifying the first time.

"HELLO!"

Hmm?...I don't have a voice. Expected. Let me check on the rest of me. I can't see but I can feel.

"WOW!" My hand effortlessly passes through my face. I'm a ghost, of course.

If only scaring people were an option, you know, walking up to someone with a hand bursting out of my stomach. Like BLBLBLB. Hahaha.

NO. Too simple. Perhaps lurking under the bed or in a closet. Nah. Oh! Floating above someone during their sleep, then startling them in the dark and cold of night. Hehehehe.

Hmm?...A LIGHT!

A light appears in the distance. I'd want to move towards it, but I can't. Not necessary, though, as the light approaches, shining brightly. My eyes hurt—wait! In this scenario, I can do something I've always wanted, and with my ghostly form, it's perfect.

"Cough…Here I go"

"The light is so bright, hurting my eyes... Oh! Wait a second, I don't have eyes... YOHOHOHO!" YES! Success. A line from one of my beloved anime characters. I love you, Bones.

Fun's over; the light engulfs me. Scared? Nah. A lifetime of suffering and experiencing death eradicates such unnecessary emotions. Closing my nonexistent eyes, I welcome whatever awaits.

"It worked, your highness."

Eh? A voice? Impossible. But... should I open my eyes and see? Okay, here goes nothing.

WHAT!

Upon opening my eyes, a breathtaking sight meets me—a woman with long golden hair, eyes, and radiant white skin. She dons a white priestess robe with golden details, crowned with a sun-shaped crown.

I fell in love. SHUT UP!

"Where am I?" Scanning the surroundings reveals a magnificent fusion of marble and gold architecture, adorned with angelic statues and sun symbols at every corner.

"Welcome, Heroes, to Solara Sanctum," the woman warmly declares, diverting my attention back to her.

Heroes? Can't be. Swiftly looking left and right, another person shares this marble platform—A young blond girl, I instantly recognized that she was from the same world as me, given her high-school uniform.

And YES, world, I'm not foolish enough to miss the fact that I've been transported to a different world.

FINALLY! My dream came true. I must quickly check if it's a transmission or reincarnation.

Hum? Checking my body, I find myself clad in the same hospital blue clothes. Damn, I hate it. Let's leave that for later; the most crucial matter is...Slowly reaching between my legs, I sigh in relief.

Big D is still here, great. I hate to be reincarnated to a different gender.

"Heroes, we need your help" The woman spoke again.

Glancing behind her I saw for the first time, two men. The one on her right was a man with a curved back, likely very old. He was wearing a similar robe to the woman with a hood covering his face.

But the man on her left was…..Damn, that's awesome. Not the man, the armor. It's big, really big. Made from white and gold metal. The sun symbols on his chest, and the best thing was the golden skulls on his shoulder. I bet this man could only pass through doors sideways, from shoulder to shoulder I guess 1-1.5 meters? maybe more.

Divine craftsmanship indeed. I guess he's a paladin, a defender of the light and the innocent, but generally, I would feel a little scared if my knight in shining armor had skulls on his shoulders.

"NO…NO…this can't happen, I was just crossing the road when a truck hit me" The teen from my world suddenly broke, mumbling to herself.

"Aaaa Truck-kun, I see"

"Truck-kun? What's that?" the priestess approaches, inquiring suddenly.

Damn, I spoke too loud.

"Ahem... Aaa! Truck-kun is an ominous metal creature that appears out of nowhere, delivering powerful blows that can send you through worlds" Nice, A suitable explanation, I believe.

"Tell me about this creature" The armor man stepped forward but he didn't bypass the priestess.

"What do you mean mister…"

"Dorn" he introduced "Dorn Van Ascalon, I want to know everything about this creature, his strength and weakness, in case it came to our world"

Damn, my joke backfired. I need to clarify before they prepare to face a mythical Truck. Come to think of it, that would be amusing; maybe I should let them.

"Cough; don't worry, Mister Dorn. Truck-kun can't traverse worlds; you're safe."

"I see" Nodding he stepped back.

Turning to the priestess I asked, "You need us for what?"

Placing a hand on her chest, she replies, "First of all, I am the Oracle of the Sun. Our celestial Aspect of the Sun has summoned you here to assist in exterminating other races."

NANII!

Exterminate who? Other races. Does she genuinely expect me to go out and slay Elf-san and Neko-chan? NOOOO, not Neko-chan. Men of culture won't forgive me for eternity. It's official these people are BAD; I need to get out of here.

"I see and by other races you mean the evil ones, like demons, and vampires," I asked trying to get confirmation, maybe I jumped too quickly to conclusions.

The Oracle smiles warmly, saying, "Oh! You know about them, Hero. Yes, those races, along with anything that isn't human."

Don't say something so dark with that lovely smile, I knew it. These people are bad, really bad.

"Now Heroes if you please, follow me to the other room in order to check on your magic"

MAGIC! She said magic. Of course, Magic exists in a different world.

"I would love to follow you, but I can't walk—" For the first time since opening my eyes, I forget something vital.

My legs. I could feel them. Slowly standing, I gaze at the floor for a time, gathering my courage. I took one step.

Instantly after the step, tears burst. I'm so happy. If there's one good thing about this world, it's the ability to walk like a normal person.

"What's wrong, Hero?" The Oracle asks, concerned, witnessing my tears.

Quickly wiping them, I reply, "Nothing. I'm just happy. This is my first step in 15 years."

Smiling, she said, "We're happy for you too, Hero."

"Thank you, Oracle"

But could you at least call me Hero-sama? I'm not asking for much, I want to say, but the man with the big armor was giving me strange glances for some time.

"Forgive me; I forgot to ask about your name."

"Well, I..." Should I use my name or create a new one? This is a new life, after all. "You can call me Leo." I retained my name, or at least what my mother used to call me. I miss her already; she was a kind and loving mother.

"And you?" The Oracle turns to the young girl.

The girl trembles slightly before answering, "M-My name is Historia."

"Pleasure to meet you, Historia."

With that settled, we follow the Oracle to another room, the same themed building and decoration style—angels, sun, gold, and white. In the center, an orb awaits.

I see it's the classic place your hand on the orb to shock everyone. I love it! why? Because I need strength to save Neko-chan, don't worry men of culture I'll save them and have them all for myself. Hehehe A harem. Awesome.

The old man who stood silent the whole time approached the orb. I notice a few people circling the room—a man and a woman, in that order.

The men wore similar armor to Dorn, and the women the priestess white robes. The strange thing about them, well…they all have golden hair and eyes, and they all look hmmm…how to put in words, arrogant and beautiful even the men.

I feel out of place with my messy brown hair and black eyes. Damn you all! Are you looking for a fight?

"Let's begin," the old man suddenly speaks, gesturing for me to approach the orb.

Oh! Yes, yes, it's here. I'll place my hand on the orb, find out how strong I am, protect Neko-chan, and have the Oracle call me Hero-sama. Good, all checked.

"Place your hand on the orb Hero Leo"

"Okay," I comply, closing my eyes with a smirk on my face.

"..."

Seconds pass, and nothing happens. What's wrong, old man? Boast about how potent my magic is.

"Cough…Hero Leo"

Oh! Here we go

"It appears that you have no magic"

"!!!" Eyes wide in shock, I hastily inspect the orb, noticing no change.

"You sure?" I stare at the old man, who shakes his head. "I'm sure, Hero Leo. If you had magic, the orb would have detected it. I'm sorry, Hero."

Removing my hand, I say, "Thank you," and return to my position next to the high-school girl.

"Keep your spirit high, Leo," the Oracle turns to me with a smile. Yet, her smile isn't like the previous ones; she's forcing herself to smile.

She called me Leo…. Quickly Scanning the room's occupants, I find them all staring at me with cold eyes.

I see... so I'm no longer a Hero. They hoped to exploit me, and upon discovering my lack of magic, I became useless to them.

According to the hundreds of novels I've read, the most logical solution for them is to get rid of me. I need to escape.

"Hero Historia come"

"Y-YES." Historia approaches the orb, placing her hand on it. Instantly, a golden light engulfs the room, enveloping everyone.

"H-Holy Magic." The old man trembles, turning to the Oracle, shouting, "She has Holy Magic."

WHAAAT! NOT FAIR!
