I opened my eyes to see the rays of morning. An instinctual feeling that something is different, that something has changed. I should be dead, yet here I am breathing.
A thousand scenarios flashing in my head just to make sense of what's going on. I died, that was a fact. I check my body to find no wounds. Further inspection was I shrunk. I seemed to have regressed back into a child. The situation was impossible for all I know. My body was now around 12 years old, the middle ground between being a child and adolescence.
I look around and noticed that I was surrounded by trees. A dull shine caught my eye. It was my sword, though it wasn't apparent as it looks like a black stick when it's in the scabbard. It was a chokuto. A Japanese straight sword. It was as long as my current height. At least I have a means to defend myself in this unknown circumstances. I survey my surroundings again. The trees were big, gigantic may be the better word. It would take atleast 4 men to hug it.

Divine intervention or not, it matters less right now. Adapting to the situation and keeping calm is what I did. My danger senses was ringing as I heard a growl. With my sword in my hands I controlled my beating heart to a slow rhythm.
3 wolves. A small pack slowly circling me. The wolves were bigger than I know. Because I shrunk they look huge. Black fur with green patches. The eyes looking at me like easy prey. A bite size snack for them. Standing still, ready to draw my sword. My senses enhanced by the adrenaline.
I pounced first to my right. The wolves surprised by the action of their prey. A split second then they pounced too but I was already in front of the wolf. I drew the sword and it pierced it's eyes. The wolf twitched as it my sword pierced through the brain. I had the advantage on reach. Using the sword, I used it as a stand to jump and avoiding the massive jaws behind me that could swallow me whole. Landing on the ground, forced myself to act on reflex I then pull the sword out and slashed the sword at the second wolf. Targeting the eyes, it howled in pain.
I left the second wolf alone and quickly rolled sideways to avoid a swipe from the third wolf. Face to face with the third wolf, it growled in anger. I turned around and ran towards a nearby tree, the wolf chased. It was quicker but using the tree I backfliped and with the help of gravity my sword pierced through from the back of it's neck.
I glanced and saw the second wolf with a smile on my face.
