He turns into a goddamn giant!
Yuen screams at me, "Nice going!"
Tch.
In a feat of fury, the giant raises his foot high in the air before sending it down at us, intending to turn us into mush. Of course, whether he can physically do that is a different matter.
I peek at the giant's level, noticing it's only level 11. Hm. I'm surprised he can turn into such a giant at such a level.
Suddenly, cracks spread across Yuen's body, and he soon disperses into an army of spiders and flees.
"Eh—"
Mister giant's foot lands on me with a massive thud. Instantly, the ground that he made contact with crunches.
I grunt as I'm forced to basically kiss the damn ground because of his weight. Damn bastard is heavy… but not insanely so.
He shouts, "Die!"
I'm basically locked in position… Well, without the use of skills, of course.
Immediately— actually, I'm not very interested in burning my damn clothes.
Instead of using fire skin to teach this bastard a lesson, I freeze time. With time now frozen, I use all my force to crawl out from under his foot. I'm basically digging up dirt by moving my knees.
How annoying. But as soon as I get my head out, getting the rest of my body out is moderately easy.
Now, I look up.
Oh…
I then look back down.
Hm…
Yeah, I think I won't do that.
I step back and unfreeze time in the process. Instantly, he goes back to hurling swears and cuss words.
Hm! Now that I think about it, how the heck do I know Ghomas called me a slur from this world when it was my first time hearing it…
"I will kill you!" he keeps shouting, thinking I'm still under his foot. While he does that, I keep thinking of theories that would explain this strange phenomenon…
Hm. Probably just a type of slur sense I picked up because of my mother. I want a way damn cooler reason.
Like I secretly have a hidden skill that grants me a proper understanding of the world in some form. Or maybe a second feature of the localizer/translator function?
The handsome and now naked giant guy spots me and turns towards me with the eyes of a dragon.
He asks, "Why… are you not under my feet?"
"I don't know. I am not into that." I shrug.
"You think this is a joke?!"
"No, but when I explained why I came here, you tried to kill me."
"Y-you, you burned down my village and my grandparents! And then came back here, sprouting some bullshit about you can revive them!" He screams.
Actually… that's a good point.
He continues, "And then talked about getting to know each other! You don't even have flow patterns! You are clearly some damn genetic freak! And even if you weren't some freak, why would I want to be anywhere near a monster like you!"
I point at him. "Okay, you didn't need to call me a damn generic freak. Especially when you all have these weird tattoos on your skin. You all don't even have family names!"
"You…"
With time frozen once again, I proceed to ignore the handsome guy's fist which is only a meter away from my head.
I hop on the tallest tree branch and continue this until I reach the tree's crown, which is dense with orange leaves.
I unfreeze time to conserve my EP. The guy goes back to screaming as I pretty much spin on the tree, looking for the burned village…
It isn't like I can remember where it was— Oh. I just had an idea. Instead of looking for the destroyed village in the middle of the night, what if I simply search for the part of the forest I burned down?
Then, I would just… uhhh… try to remember the parts I saw when we were walking with them to their home.
Do I have to worry about Yuen? I'm not sure. Besides, he left me alone and ran away like a damn coward.
I hear the war cries again. This time they sound like a dying goat, to be honest.
What the heck happened to their vocal cords?
All the hairs on my back stand up, my instincts screaming, "Danger!"
I jerk my head up and find a massive eyeball staring directly at me.
Then, at the same time, someone shouts, "On the tall tree!"
Tch.
I destroy the eyeball with a fireball. What a complete nuisance.
The giant, handsome man—only half as tall as the 100-meter tree—grabs its trunk and groans with effort, trying to uproot it.
At this rate, finding their village is going to be impossible.
I slap my head and begin to focus deeply on a plan. It's kind of hard to do since the guy is making the tree shake way too much.
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
Damn it!
I've had enough and pretty much give up. I jump onto another tree, and I keep that cycle. I'm just tree-hopping.
"Come back here!" the giant bellows, crashing through the trees like a frenzied beast. Each step seems to wound him further.
What a damn fool. He’s struggling to keep up, but it’s a futile effort.
I spot Yuen in the distance. Has he really run that far? Why? He’s at a higher level than me, so this doesn’t make any sense!
Wait! He’s in the area of the forest I burned down! That explains it.
Yuen slowly turns towards me, likely reacting to the loud thuds and the destruction caused by the giant’s rampage.
His face contorts with horror as he gazes at something. I turn to see what’s caught his attention.
Ah.
It’s his dick.
"Come back here!" the giant roars again.
"Call me mama first!" I shout back, spinning mid-air to face him and gauging his reaction.
His rage intensifies. He grabs a relatively small tree and hurls it at me.
The tree spins through the air with a sharp whistle.
I quickly cast a fireball at it. As the tree ignites and continues its trajectory, I simply watch.
Moments before it reaches me, the rapidly burning tree disintegrates into ashes.
I land near Yuen.
He turns to me and asks, "Do you know what’s happening? Is that why they want to kill you?!"
"Yeah," I reply, raising my left hand to the sky as flames creep up to my fingers. Three small fireballs shoot into the air.
With my other hand, I conjure a fireball three times the size of my head and launch it at the giant. I watch intently as the fireball erupts, loses its shape, and spreads.
There’s no way he’ll run into the fire—
He runs straight into it, and his skin immediately starts burning.
"What the hell!"
I extinguish the flames around him. I was planning on creating a triangular fire barrier by rapidly exchanging fire between the fireballs in the sky.
Think of it like how Wi-Fi transmits data. Fireball 1 requests energy from Fireball 2, which sends a stream of fire in response. At the same time, Fireball 2 requests energy from Fireball 1, and they continue this exchange back and forth, creating a dynamic barrier.
I haven't performed it yet, but I already know how genius it sounds. And that isn't the only thing I have thought about. I am also thinking about this other cool trick to travel quickly... which I think I am going to perform... right now!
Yuen steps forward with the confidence of a knight. "Tch. It seems I have no choice now..."
He rolls up his sleeve. "I will show you all the power... of-"
I tap his shoulder, casting fire skin on him.
At first, he is baffled, then he starts to panic and roll on the ground. "I am fire!"
I don't need to focus on maintaining my fire skill, so I freeze time and take a few steps behind a tree. I quickly strip and bury my clothes in the dirt. Then I unfreeze time and activate fire skin.
I wish I had the skill to make things immune to fire. I am sick of this.
I see the giant boy charging at us with his horrible burns which make me wince. I scan the area for what I noticed earlier and find it: the small half-men that tried to ambush me. That is my sign to know where to go.
I send the fireballs plummeting to its direction.
Yuen touches his face, calmer. "I'm on fire... but it doesn't hurt?"
The giant leaps at us, but it is futile. Our bodies turn into balls of fire and follow the two fireballs.
It is a weird experience. My body shrank into a sphere, losing all human features.
I am a bit worried I will lose consciousness, but not too much. Fire skin keeps my brain working even though I am a living flame.
Seeing the trees as a blur is a strange sight. I still can not only see but hear everything.
Then finally, to the left, I notice the burned village!
I cancel the fire ball… request technique and relinquish my fireball skill influence over our bodies.
The fire skin skill forces us back to our human-like state and we free-fall to the planet.
Yuen's mouth opens and closes multiple times. I suspect his brain has cracked upon that experience.
“Sorry about that!” I shout, a bit uncharacteristic of me. But I do owe him that much.
However, it seems pointless since he doesn’t process my words. Also, the air pressure from falling towards the ground at neck-breaking speeds probably has an influence.
We are moving fast... very fast!
At any second, I can envision our fire bodies going splat, and despite doing it with Ghomas and Vacinay, I don’t want to take a risk with my entire flame body going poof!
Then I have an idea!
Fire ball request—
We hit the ground and lose shape and form… almost. His and my fire heads don't completely scatter.
When our bodies regroup together, I stand up with a spring in my movement. “I am alive!
Yuen, on the other hand, is just laying on the ground. It seems he is halfway to having his mind completely broken.
Then another idea comes up. “Ayo, do you have fire immunity spiders?”
His eyes move about slowly, It then locks on me. “Huh… Yes, why do you ask?”
“Mess with your skill rules and make spider exoskeleton clothes for me.”
“Wha…?”
“If you don’t, I will never remove this great fire skin from you.”
He grunts and then gets on his knees before pushing himself up. “I hate you so much…”
“Sorry, I am kinda desperate.”
“Whatever… wait, why do you want that?”
“Fireskin burns clothes.”
He stares at me, then at himself. Slowly his eyes move from his legs, crotch, then chest. “Wait… me too?”
“Yep. I used fire skin on my friends earlier and…” Wait.
He shouts while pointing at me. “You damn fiend!”
I ignore him as I think about the fact their clothes or armor don't burn.Immediately, t
Did I think about the clothes as part of them?! I mean, I was thinking about pushing the skill to its limit and all, and how it actually turns the exterior of the body(most likely turns everything) into fire.
Anyway… if that was the case… that meant I found the solution to everything!
“Hah…” I chuckle before descending into a mad laugh. “I am a genius!”
But… it doesn’t really change our predicament. “Chop chop, make body coverings out of your spider exoskeletons.”
He grunts before summoning a big blue spider and ripping its exoskeleton apart. Hm…
I was really going to wear bug body parts… Gross.
Actually… I don’t like that idea one bit.
I flick a small fireball at a tree so that I could mark it, then I use my fire ball request technique to travel to where I had buried my clothes to retrieve them.
After donning them, I fully envision it as part of me and use fire skin… then I turn it off.
…
It… remains.
HELLL YEAHHHH!
Now we are talking baby!
Now… time to do some forbidden resurrection, and like that, I fly back as a fireball, tracking the tree I had set on fire.
Upon reaching back, Yuen asks, “So… can you remove this fire thing from me?”
“Can’t do. You would be naked. I don’t want to see that. So we will worry about that later.”
“You… Fine.” He replies as he follows me.
When we reach the burned-down village, he notices the corpses and asks, “By the way… the reviving stuff was a hoax, right?”
I grin at him before gathering all the corpses and then touch them one by one, saying, “Pseudo resurrection.”
He then asks, “Wait, pseudo?”
“Yeah, but trust me. I know the secrets of skills.”
“Are you insane?!”
Before I could answer, war cries come blasting towards us. And the… handsome guy comes running towards me at regular size while panting and heaving.
Damn, I wanted him. Welp, that was never going to happen.
It seems he has run out of EP.
Despite being drained, he points at me. “You… dare gather their cor—“
He falls silent as he notices the corpses beginning to tremble. Flesh starts to reappear, enveloping their bones.
To be honest, as soon as I saw that disgusting sight, I turned away. Anyway… my plan was working well.
Soon after, the resurrected folks begin muttering as they look around. Yuen is far more freaked out than I expected and is as far away as possible.
Then one of the resurrected looks at the handsome guy and says with a gentle voice, “My grandchild…”
With my arms spread wide, I shout, “I brought your family back to life!”
The handsome guy and the others are so stunned that they begin to cry, calling out the names of the resurrected.
One of the resurrected touches my shoulder. “Thank you..”
I don’t feel the need to turn. “Sure, no problem.”
Then… the hand begins rubbing my shoulder a bit too strangely for my liking. “You... have really nice shoulders.”
What the fuck is this? Did I bring back a predator?
I turn back with an irritated look. “Please don’t touch me like tha—“
Then I see it…
The man's face grows increasingly pale. Then, the left side begins to deteriorate, with the flesh melting away like water and revealing his skull underneath.
He mutters, “You have really… nice shoulders… nice meat. Nice flesh... I want your flesh…”
… Oh. He is a zombie. I mean, at least he isn’t a predator, right?
He then lunges forward with his jaw wide open. “I want your flesh!”
