Chapter 4.0 - They Made Me Eat Sand

Chapter 4.0 - They Made Me Eat Sand

When you were very little, did it ever happen to you, that you were peacefully building castles of sand on a playground, but then that one kid would come and demolish your towers, tear down your flags, and just wreck havoc in general?

I remember one girl did that to me once.

And now it’s several imps.

Those little grey creatures.

I got no idea how they got here…?

Come to think of it, maybe by foot, right.

No, what I mean is what stirred them up to come here.

So instead of a priest, I had to buy grudgingly a warrior instead.

And it was a female!

Hooray.

I guess it’s like with the movies nowadays - the more face-to-face and tough the role, the more likely a girl would get it.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Or at least like it was with the movies for me.

But in the middle of the action, I forgot one important thing.

We have never practiced with the elven naginata before.

So it’s dangerous for her as well.

With a stupefied expression only a magical wisp without any face can manage, I awaited the worst. Until it got to me that the imps may be in a similar situation. Or it’s just that they even cannot to get any smarts to begin with.

“Hey Velatha, just circle around them and get their attention. Don’t engage in combat.”

I also thought of buying an elven lamp and let it fall on their heads, but it seems you can’t buy buildings during combat.

So we got five of them chasing me, four chasing Velatha, and Dius and Aimon discussing what would be the best tactic.

They.

Do.

Discuss.

Well they definitely won’t get any ‘likes’ or ‘shares’ from me for their knowledge this time.

After one minute, they “got it”, they said.

Finally.

But when they executed it, I did wonder why I got worried in the first place.

Those imps got slaughtered like rabbits.

Aimon went Tarzan and kicked one of them on the way down.

To maximize his shooting opportunity, he brought his bow close to the neck and did shoot when the imp jumped at him.

The arrow went all the way through and struck another imp behind him.

So it was 3 down, one of them incapacitated.

Dius meanwhile binded one using rope and Veletha got him. After that he proceeded to give her his dagger and she joined Aimon in that merciless style of close-quarters combat.

Looking at them, I sighed in my heart.

I wanted my elves to be silent and deadly, especially the archers, right!

And look here, how I got rough barbarians.

It leaves a bitter taste in my non-existent mouth.

Hopefully interrogating the last remaining imp will make my mood better.
