~2 years later~

So I realized something right quick that I didn’t know until now and that is after the first year where you grow similar to a human, my own type of species starts to decelerate the aging process by half after wards so even though I am three I look similar to a 2 year old and it will most likely increase later on in life.

On the other hand though I have managed to get a casual hand on this new language and I can speak short sentences, though it was rather difficult as I didn’t cry unless I needed to as a young baby and my lungs suffered a bit of a setback for it so I had a hard time speaking up for a while, though now I got it a bit better I can’t speak too long without being winded a bit.

The truly sad thing is though, I have met other children of my “generation” and they are actually learning how to talk almost as fast as me who has a vast assortment of knowledge, and the Royalty’s child is even a bit faster than me! These children while still pure and innocent in some ways are actually of a scarily high IQ that would make most parents from my old world think their child is possessed by demons!!!

“Sigh” so unfair...

Anyways the calendar here has an additional 2 months and the days/nights are longer than on Earth. The months are split into 3 major seasons Summer, Fall, and Winter. These are further split into segments.

Summer: Ashfin, which is basically spring and was named as such as this is when the famous Ashfin Silverbacks start to breed which are a staple food due to there ability to reproduce and lasts 33 days; Dalsi, this is the time when most animals have their offspring and lasts 26 days; Rivendare, a 29 days month where the Ashfins who reproduced are all back in the major oceans and the offspring start to grow in the rivers and lakes while the different societies start to plant their crops; after that it is the last month of summer Asmar, it lasts 28 days and on the 14 day it is the summer solstice.

Fall: Pilcon, this is a time that actually lasts for 40 days and is a very important part of the year as it can decide the fate of many as this is where the Ashfin Silverbacks caught before the end of Rivendare are just about all stocked into preserved foods and half of what was made must be turned in to provide supplies for the army who must form up and venture out to eradicate monsters who reproduce by the litter per day during Fall where they hunt the adolescent Silverbacks, the issue is that if they over hunt the fish it could affect the next year and after Fall is over the monsters will instead start attacking settlements if there is too many due to a lack of resources for them to eat; next is the month of Klas, this is when the monsters we did hunt and brought back the corpses of are distributed based on the amount of preserved fish was given and then it becomes fertilizer and is very affective to increase the growth and yield of the crops, this is the main reason for the monsters not being eradicated as it helps preserve society and even if they are destroyed they can still reform in areas of high magic density, this month last a short 20 days yet is extremely important so as to keep crop fields healthy and it eliminates a need for crop rotations as the ambient mana helps nurture the crop fields; then it is Grothgar, this is the month that the farmers must be most careful about, if they aren’t careful then they could be infested with pests who will damage the crops and if the crops aren’t hardy enough could cause destruction of whole fields and lasts 27 days; then it is Zol, this is when the crops aim staple crops are ready for harvest, then we plant the next crops that will be ready right before the harsh part of winter starts, this lasts a full 30 days; afterwards is Rivenfare, this is the month for the fully developed Ashfins to head out to sea and it lasts for around 29 days; Pilaw is next, this is when the trees start to change their colors, it last for a total of 28 days and the official end of Fall happens around the time the leaves start to fall and they celebrate it with a Fall Festival for the first day leaves start to fall.

Winter: Prepar, this is the month that monsters tend to get active and villages must focus less on caring for the crops which are the more hardy types and don’t need too much attention to care for and last 32 days; Dalph, named after the person who helped make peace between the races and is the time where parts of the crops will be harvested each day over the course of 28 days; Duran, this is the month right before the first snow and lasts only 18 days, yet they are the times that military might is most needed as this is the times that monsters are most aggressive and redistribute territory, shifting there lands and trying to push into human lands which is lessened if you take down as many as possible during the main breeding season of monsters, the last night is the hardest of all as that’s when the winter solstice begins and the monsters are about to hibernate and are trying to gather as much food as possible; then it is the last month, Dox, and it lasts until spring for 37 days of snow and the snowstorms starts roughly on the 16th~18th day of winter till the 32nd~35th day when it starts to calm down.

This gives us 405 days per year and it hasn’t changed for the past 1500 years even with long lived races who could see the differences over this time so it must be rather accurate, as for how the calendars work, the years are the same starting from the “upheaval” and the months and days were agreed upon in the “peace summit” organized by Dalph 1200 years ago when the monsters started appearing after populating enough and started to attack sentient species.
