It was already late in the afternoon and the sun sank lower in the sky as the shadows of the trees slowly lengthened.
At this moment, within the narrow pathway of the grassland near the Everdes Mountain range, an ancient carriage that seemed to be bathed in flames could be seen moving forward at a high speed.
The carriage was roughly fifteen or sixteen meters long. It was being pulled by two majestic magical beasts. They resembled a horse but weren't.
They each had a pair of horns on their foreheads and six legs instead of four including a reptilian scale.
Their eyes exuded frightening glimmers akin to lightning bolts capable of killing anyone.
The carriage driver was a beautiful young woman clad in the Avalon Empire’s imperial knight outfit followed by dozens of other Imperial Knights.
“I can't believe his Highness the 4th prince fell asleep as soon as he entered the carriage. He must have been really tired.”Mumbled the imperial knight as she glanced at Shad sleeping soundly inside the carriage with a complicated look on her face.
After two years, the fourth prince has become devilishly strong and even more mysterious than ever.
As one of the elite imperial knights of the Avalon Empire, she was assigned to protect the 4th imperial prince in secret by the emperor. As such, she was able to witness some of the prince’s terrifying physical training which caused her to be thunderstruck.
Every morning, the 4th imperial prince would run up and down the colossal mountain peak at least five times while carrying a huge amount of weight.
These weights were strapped on his back, legs, and arms, and as time went by he slowly increased the weight. He repeated this pattern for two years without missing a day.
She had never seen a mage push himself to this extent to strengthen his body. This type of training was just as brutal as the training undertaken by warriors, if not more so.
She was able to fully sense the explosiveness, flexibility, and toughness of the 4th Prince when she was near him. She was even overwhelmed by his sheer presence alone.
“What a monster…...” The female imperial knight couldn’t help but sigh as she quietly whispered to herself before regaining her bearings. She realized that she would go crazy if she continued to dwell on what she’d witnessed over the past two years.
Meanwhile, within the carriage, oblivious to what the imperial knight was thinking, Shad appeared to be asleep as he lay on the comfortable sofa of the carriage with both of his eyes closed.

Despite how it might look, he was in fact very much awake and was currently using his spiritual perception to inspect his body and his mana pool.
The spiritual perception was a method used by mid and high-level mages to inspect their body, and could only be accomplished by a mage that had strong spiritual power.
In the world of Eidrin, the intensity of a person’s spirit was known as a spiritual power, and this is what was tested in the soul intensity test to determine a mage’s talent. This, coupled with a mage’s affinity, were the two largest factors of a mage’s strength.
One of the reasons there weren’t many mages in the world was the high spiritual power requirement. The minimum amount of spiritual power required by a mage was ten times higher than an average person would have. Compared to this requirement, the element affinity was secondary.
Shad’s spiritual perception sank deep into his mana pool. Compared to other mages, his mana pool looked more like an infinite space or void, with no borders or walls.
Inside this infinite space, there was a small prismatic purple item floating in the air, it resembled a purple crystal or gemstone.
Moreover, it was not an ordinary crystal, it appeared to be composed of numerous arcs of purple lightning woven together.
It seemed that innumerable arcs of purple lightning — like silk strings — wove together to form this prismatic crystal, and occasionally, thunder would explode from within it.
This created quite a majestic spectacle like the opening of an endless sky filled with lightning — quite unfathomable.
The prismatic crystal was currently rotating by itself and swallowing streams of mana, which resembled transparent energy.
Each time it swallowed a stream of mana, it would release strands of white lightning bolts that permeated the infinite space, turning it into a lightning field.
These thick streaks of lightning soared like crazed dragons with thunderous explosions everywhere, bombarding the void.
It was as if this was the most dangerous and frightening location in the world. This area had become a field of lightning.
This prismatic Lightning crystal was acting like a converter that turned the streams of mana into bolts of lightning. After a while, the countless strands of lightning that were converted by the lightning seed reverted back to streams of mana. However, the mana became purer and the cycle would start anew.
“I finally can revert the lightning back into mana even after it has been refined.”Mumbled Shad with a slight smile face as he opened his eyes.
The infinite space and purple lightning crystal was something he was born with when he reincarnated into this new world.
It was a part of him and was somehow embedded and merged with his soul. At first, he was afraid of it. However, as time went by, he began to research it and gradually learned how to control different aspects of its power.
Nonetheless, even after fifteen years, the prismatic purple lightning crystal still gave him an uneasy feeling due to the immense and destructive power it emitted.
Aside from that, he had also learned about the advantages and the shortcomings of the purple lightning crystal over the years due to his research and experiment.
First of all, the purple lightning crystal would automatically convert the mana absorbed into his infinite space into strands of lightning. As such, he was able to directly attack anyone with the lightning stored inside his infinite space without having to cast a lengthy spell like those mages.
As for the drawback, using the lightning energy within his infinite space usually took a huge toll on his body. His body wasn’t strong enough to handle the destructive lightning power which was one of the reasons he brutally trained his body over the past two years.
Another disadvantage was once the purple lightning seed converted the mana energy into the strands of lightning, it was nearly impossible to convert it back into mana, which Shad needed to cast other magic spells or any magic spells.
However, after two years of extensive training, not only he was able to train his body to fully withstand the destructive power of the lightning energy, he was also able to revert the lightning energy within his infinite space back to mana.
Furthermore, the newly reverted mana was even purer and more concentrated after it was refined by the purple lightning seed.
The lightning element was generally known for its powerful destructive power and speed, but incredibly low defensive capabilities.
As a mage who could only use the lightning element, Shad had to work extremely hard to improve his defensive capabilities.
Unlike the other mages that could use more than one of the magic elements through different spells, he was only able to use one, Lightning.
It was as though the purple lightning seed disdained all the other elements and declared itself superior. Because of the way this purple lightning seed was bonded to his soul, he had zero affinity to the other elements, which was very odd for most mages.
Nonetheless, that didn't stop him from being one of the most powerful mages of the younger generations.
