Chapter 3 - Lunch

Chapter 3 - Lunch

In a lot of novels and fanfiction that I read in my previous life about a main character waking up in a younger body, older body, or waking up as a different species is that they ignore the physical changes that happen. I mean, they freak out about having green skin or a wrinkly dick all the time, but you have to think about the makeup of your brain. How does an entire person just get slotted in a different body without consequence? What about muscle memory, hormones, and the neuroplasticity of the brain? Does that all just get overwritten? Or do we get the short end of the stick?

I have to think about how this House-Elf body affects me. The pros and cons of having a body bred for subservience. Pro: If I focus on my orders I can ignore a lot of mental distress. Con: I think that the mental distress is there for a reason.

House-Elves were created and bred for the entire purpose of following orders down to the letter, regardless of any harm that might come to them, within the ‘Harry Potter’ books we see Dobby compelled to bang his head whenever he disobeys an order. Orders are the life-blood of any House-Elf, any order must be committed regardless of any misgivings.

If I focus on the last orders my late master gave to me then I can ignore any distress coming from within until the order is complete, and the order is still ongoing.

Interesting little fact the book series doesn't cover about House-Elves is that any order given must be completed, regardless of the death of any master. Good thing I killed my own master before any more orders were given, right?

Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? This novel is from Royal Road. Support the author by reading it there.

Just focus on the orders, don’t think about your actions, don’t think about the aftermath. Just Focus On The Orders.

First thing I have to do before I continue my internal monologue is rectify my idiot actions. I just killed a man with even thinking of who might go looking for him.

I can’t just ignore everything until it goes away, that is not conducive to surviving this terrible, prejudiced world I am now in. First, let me get rid of the body. The world twisting around me is always so funny, but orders are orders. Masters body is all cold now, it is quite gross indeed, bleh.

Dragging master's body off of his bed is so hard, why does the master have to be so heavy?

Welp, you gotta do what you gotta do. If that means having to drag a two-hundred pound weight down a flight of stairs and out the back door to the garden then that's what I'll have to do.

In movies they make it seem like digging a shallow grave is a lot easier, in fact it is quite difficult. This may be because of this tiny body and its weak strength, I will be fixing that soon enough though. Didn't the books make it out that Voldemort performed a bunch of rituals to gain his awesome powers? No clue.

Hopefully the library within this house has something useful for me, I mean most of those rituals are probably meant for humans and not House-Elves. Oh, the grave is already dug, I must have zoned out, well, bye-bye master. I didnt even learn his name, sad times.

On the bright side, I now have an entire library to work through, most likely lots of awesome spells. Maybe i'll have laser eyes or something, time to pop over to the library and begin the great quest to power!

Maybe not really, studying is a pain.
