Chapter 6:
Two months had passed since that day, it was now the beginning of winter. After that my life become quite a hassle, but the biggest problem to was that I wasn’t able to look into what happened to my sister.
Sitting atop a construction I played with the phone Nina gave me and the dagger from Mari, “Damn it’s been so long since then.” I smiled then standing up and looked down at all the people walking the streets.
They all seemed to hold their own normality in their own hands, unlike me. Ever since gaining this power all I could do was try to adapt to it. I let out a large sigh, looking at a group pushing two others into an alleyway.
“Well I might as well do something worthwhile.” I threw the dagger towards the alley.
In the alleyway.
Two guys held one up, “Just leave my sister out of this, I will do anyt…” he then got punched in the stomach. “And what the hell can you do.” he turns his back and goes to the others guy that was holding the girl. “But you on the other hand, have something you can do.”
The dagger stabs into the ground and Hayato appears.
I smiled as I pulled the dagger out of the ground, “You guys seemed to me having fun, can I join in.” Throwing the dagger right behind the guy holding the girl up, teleporting to it and stabbing it into his throat.
“Kill him!!!” one shouted out, dropping the other guy. I don’t know what they expected even after seeing me being a Power Bearer but it most likely wasn’t all of them getting killed.
After killing them I look at the two, “You two should run away before the government gets here.” Thankfully they listened and rushed off. And just in time as well. The soldiers run into the alley, guns already at the ready.
“Confirmed, it is power bearer Hayato Raiiki, Shoot!” they began firing at me but I simply moved behind them. “Oh come on, don’t you already know my power. This shouldn’t be so easy.” I ran into all of them with the knife and dagger, tearing them apart.
I left the alley as a bloody mess and headed away from the center of town. Fighting multiple waves of soldiers a day really drained me back then. So I was limping a bit through the cold night, but then someone pulled my shirt.
Reflexively I got my knife and turned around, ready to stab whoever it was. Till I saw it was the brother and sister I saved. “Sorry I am just a bit on edge.” I moved away my dagger and plopped onto the ground.
“So what ya want?” I looked up at them, weirdly enough neither was scared of me. “We just wanted to thank you and give you this.” his sister handed me a bag of clothes. I was confused for a second, “Are you sure you have the right person here?”
He laughed, “You saved us, so we wanted to thank you.” I took the bag and smiled. “You do know what I’m a power bearer?”
“Yes!” the girl exclaimed, “But not like all power bearers are bad, you helped us.” I began to laugh and took a deep breath.
“You are right, I saved you two, but I also killed those guys and 20 other soldiers. So drop that wishful thinking.” I stood up, “I am not a good person, don’t think that even for a second.”
After saying those words I teleported away.
I was now a few blocks away from there, I slammed my hand into a wall behind me. “Who am I kidding, I am glad they thanked me.”
Putting my back against the wall, I slid my back down it and sat down with my knees to my face, “But I can’t let them think that power bearers aren’t dangerous. It will get them killed.”

Large, heavy footsteps could be heard just around the corner of where I was. ‘Oh wonderful.’ I thought to myself. Couldn’t even gain some time to properly relax at that time, just an annoyance after annoyance.
As their footsteps grew closer, I sprung up onto my feet, took out my knife and dagger, beginning to stretch out my legs and elbows. So from the corner of my eye I saw one of the soldiers giving a hand sign to the others.
“Yeah I am right here you cunts.”
They rushed down the street, enclosing both sides, trying to pincer me. Was a very funny tactic, if only their plan was an effective one. I smiled at all them, leaning my head backwards. “Oh you guys are so dead.”
Readying their rifles at me, “Order is Kill on Sight, I REPEAT ORDER IS KILL ON SIGHT!” Switching out their mags at his command, I presumed that they switched from dampeners to live rounds.
I gritted my teeth and threw the dagger into their cluster, stabbing into ones vest. Seemed like they learned how much of a threat I have become, since they are actually giving them protection. The same moment they began opening fire.
Teleporting to the dagger in the cluster, they were forced to stop. But this doesn’t stop me at all, I have taken hundreds of lives already. Adding more then meant nothing to me.
I stabbed, ripped and gauged at all the spots that were not covered, moving between freshly placed marks. Weirdly enough, this had become routine for me, I was moving without a single thought.
Before I even noticed there was only one left, he seemed like the commander of this platoon of troops that I viciously killed. I crouched down in front of him.
He instantly began to beg for his life, would be expected from anyone in their situation,
“Please, don’t kill me I beg of you.”
I smiled at him and ripped out the earpiece he had on and threw it to the side.
“And why should I let you live when you tried to kill me? But since I am “Nice”, I’ll let you tell me why.”
He dropped his breath and relaxed a bit,
“My daughter awakened years ago as a power bearer, back then I had the choice. Let her be taken or join this unit. Naturally I chose to keep her safe. Here you can see this picture, though it’s a bit outdated. She ran away some time ago.” he slowly took out his wallet, taking out a photo from it and handing it to me.
I took the picture, at a close look the person seemed familiar. Short dark hair and bright green eyes, she looked very similar to Nina. Way to similar to just say that.
“Is your daughter’s name Nina?”
His eyes looked very shaken by me saying that name,
“Do you perhaps know her? Do you know where my baby girl is?” Tears lightly filled his eyes.
I raised up my shirt,
“I had a gaping wound here, she helped me recover. But as to where she is, I can’t tell you or she might be in danger.”
He smiled and wiped the tears from his face,
“That is fine, as long as she is safe and warm, then I can’t complain.”
“You shouldn’t worry about her, she has people to protect her.” That was my best attempt to calm down the mans worries over his own daughter.
“But I have to ask you, have you heard anything about a girl named Yuki Raiiki?” I had to ask like that, I hadn’t heard anything about my sister since the day our mother became that monster.
The man looked at me, thinking about something and then finally lets out a breath, “If it’s the person I am thinking about, she was taken in by the government after the accident. Last I heard she was adopted into a large family.” He reaches behind his back, I gripped the dagger.
But it was just a map of Japan, on it were red exes with coordinates,
“These are all the major families and as well as containment centers. This all I can help you with, me giving you this will probably end with my death for treason.” He hands the map to me.
I pushed it back to him, “Are you crazy? Better keep it to yourself, your daughter is still out there, you can still help her.” He pushes it back to me, “Listen kid, I don’t know who you are, but you seem like a nice person and a trustworthy one as well. Take this damn map and do something proper with your life.”
Gripping onto the map I smiled at him, though he had seen the ugly side of power bearers, he trusted me to do something with what I had.
“And if you can, find my little girl and tell her I loved her but that I’m sorry for doing what I’ve done.”, he then took off the combat knife from his side, “I think this will do you better than that kitchen knife. Take care kid, do what you think is right.”
I took the knife, smiling from ear to ear for the first time in so long, “Thank you sir, I will make sure to put this to good use.” Then hearing footsteps around the corner he said no more words, just signaled with his hands that I should get out of there.
Taking it to heart I instantly teleported a few streets down to the nearest mark I had.
Back there all I heard were gunshots, but not those were not aimed at any power bearer nor criminal, but a good man fighting the wrong fight. Even after my mother died, I shed no tears but this time I did.
For a brief while I sat there, replaying those words he told me in my head before moving a long my path further.
